  • This is a Motormouth couple car review of the updated 2023 Ford Escape Hybrid compact SUV. What’s New? A sporty 2023 Ford Escape Hybrid ST-Line series with a sport-tuned suspension for AWD models, updates to the exterior with a larger grille, new headlamps and taillamps, updated technology including SYNC4, larger available screens, Alexa built-in hands-free experience, new driver assistance technology with Intersection Assist 2.0 which helps drivers avoid potential collisions and Blind Spot Assist.
The 2023 Ford Escape Hybrid has a 2.5L 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain matched to an eCVT with a combined 192 horsepower. FWD and AWD options are available. To every tank of fuel, you will get almost 900 km and over 550 miles of range.
Standard features on the 2023 Ford Escape Hybrid include, an 8” touchscreen with SYNC 4, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, an 8” driver display, 6-speaker audio system, 8-way power driver’s seat,
4-way manual passenger seat, heated front seats, vinyl and cloth upholstery, a heated steering wheel, power liftgate and Ford Co-Pilot 360.
Available features which we have on our top ST-Line Elite test model include, a 13.2” touchscreen, 12.3” digital driver display, power front seats, driver seat memory and a 360-camera.
Unfortunately, the 2023 Ford Escape Hybrid Escape does not have ventilated front seats or heated rear seats. To get features like the head-up display, B&O sound system, leather trimmed upholstery and a panoramic sunroof, you will have to pay extra for those items.
Price as tested for the Elite model with $6,000 CAD in options including the panoramic sunroof $53,379 CAD.
    Here’s the pricing for the other trims available ST-Line $40,349 CAD/$33,340 USD ST-Line Select $43,449 CAD/$35,040 USD, Platinum $45,879 CAD/$36,965 USD, ST-Line Elite $47,379 CAD/$39,460 USD.
The Escape Hybrid gets excellent fuel economy, 5.6L/100 km, 42 MPG city and 6.5 L/100 km, 36 MPG highway.
This Hybrid can tow 1500 pounds.

My company car is a 2020 Escape Hybrid . I drive it everyday haven't had any issues. I put 59,560 miles on it so far. It gets 586 miles per fill up of 13 Gallon tank. Never had any reliability issues. Did have a weird wheel squeak while in reverse, But it eventually went away.We change out cars every 2-3 years.Just ordered the 2024 Escape Hybrid . Looking forward to it.

In BC, I was quoted 2-3 months on a plug in hybrid 2023 Escape, it had a VIN so it was built and not spoken for. This and the Outlander seem like the available ones.
I'm now off to listen to ZZ Top in honor of Andrea's stunning intro and outro!

Every Escape owner that I’ve met, really liked(s) their CUV. As a short term rental (gas)… I love it. But at $53,000 (hybrid)? I’d pass. Their are too many more compelling options out there. And at over $50 thousand, it just doesn’t check enough boxes. I expect more from my vehicle. Thanks for the video.

Except, at the end of the day… its just a Ford. What does that mean? The answer will be evident when you trade it in. Dealerships love RAV4s, and CRVs, and trade-in values reflect this fact. And over $40 USD… is still a lot of money. Especially for an entry level Ford.

I picked up my 2023 Escape St-Line Elite from the dealership yesterday. If you're stopped at a light, the signal light is audible, but if you're driving it is less audible. So far I'm loving this vehicle. I live in Halifax and some of the roads can be bad. I'm not finding the suspension to be that stiff. All and all, this is a great vehicle and I really like it. Time will tell how good it is.

I just took delivery of a pre-owned Ford EcoSport and I absolutely love it. I really wanted an Escape but it wasn’t in my budget. I wish Ford would have kept the EcoSport around and gave it some of the updates that they have given to the Escape. I think it would appeal to a decent sized market.

I got a 22 RAV4 Hybrid Limited partially on your recommendation. Ours ended up in the shop…a lot. Issues with brakes, ABS, electronics and rattles. Ours had the ventilated seats. We found them to be near useless, had high hopes but everyone who tried them were amazed how little they did. After a year we dumped it. Between the reliability and other issues it proved to be a disappointment. I wish had gone with the Escape as our 11 year old Ford truck has been flawless. Agreed on needing rear seat heat to complete.

  • @DWH300
    @DWH300 11 месяцев назад

I like the looks ot the current redesigned version more than the smiley faced predecessor. I loved how it drove, rode and the technology offered at an amazing price with no markups and actual discounts unlike Toyota. After reading about the Hyundai engine failures. No Thanks. I compared the Dodge Hornet. More expensive with no sunroof and everything is an option. No Thanks. I priced a solid optioned ST Line Select that included Ford's Co-pilot 360 - Bliss, adaptive cruise, park asst. Rear passenger warning. navigation. B&O radio. 2.0 EcoBoost with AWD. I wasn't looking for a hybrid, and i didn't want a sunroof so it was the perfect optioned vehicle with an excellent price. The out the door price excluding without my trade was under $30,000. An excellent overall small SUV.
You mentioned turn signal noise. My wife's Ford Edge ST with over 50,000 miles has been the perfect vehicle with zero issues and the perfect turn signal sound. To be honest. That's not even close to a reason to purchase or not purchase a vehicle. My company car, a 2020 Chrysler 300C is silent. I have to ask. Why would anyone purchase a vehicle with a markup. Regarding Android auto. In My Chrysler 300C. The Android auto Sucks. It turns off and on randomly. JD Power ranked Dodge #1 at delivery. That changes after a couple months of purchase. JD power mentioned this rating applies at time of delivery. New vehicles with new technology creates issue unlike companies that keep recycling the same vehicles like Dodge with their decade old Chargers. Regarding my extended test drive of the 2023 Escape ST Select. I find Ford to be an excellent company and maybe test an AWD 2.0 EcoBoost version because I'm guessing here in the states. The Hybrid is likely less popular while the ice versions of the Escape is more popular and less expensive in the US than in Canada. I reviewed Edmunds and found their 2023 Escape positives.
    Roomy and comfortable seating
    Smooth ride quality
    Easy-to-use controls
Available hybrid powertrain that gets around 40 mpg

I have a 2020 escape with 2.0 turbo eco boost engine, it moves fast and fun to drive. I was surprised the hybrid with less HP (but more torque?) felt about as quick, despite CVT.
I did have a bad problem which froze the 2020 Titanium, which took 2 weeks to fix eventually traced to the electrical hub but otherwise flawless. Now thinking to trade up and just chose Tucson hybrid mainly for much better interior, warranty and price. But before signing papers Ford just incentivized enough to get below Tucson price and I am reconsidering. The best things about Escape go unreviewed usually but Zach mentioned one: sliding/reclining rear seats. Also the included driving assistance features are maybe the best on the market: with auto park and intersection assist. The cross traffic alert and forward collision avoidance have both saved me. Screen size and Synch 4 are excellent. The ride on the hybrid felt heavier to me which makes sense heavier car.
I am not sure yet what I’ll choose. Rav4 impossible to get and to me interior is worse. Slow CRVs bore me with shitty tech and make me feel like a soccer mom (and I’ve had 2 crvs for work). Had a Murano which the CVT literally fell out of so no Nissan.
Escape does have better colors: everyone loves my Electric Blue although I have to settle for a bright blue shirt!

Ok I have to do my language quibbling thing here. When a vehicle is parted out or has damage done and they have to replace the front end, basically from the front edge of the doors forward, that is called a "front-end clip." Or rear end clip.
When you are referring to the aesthetic design of the front and rear, including the placement, appearance, & shape of the grille and headlamps, but which may or may not include the fenders or any inner structures, the term you would use is front and rear "fascia."

Escape is about 5” shorter than CRV, Tucson, & Sportage & a bit shorter than the RAV4, so some comparisons will not be fair.

The charger for the battery is heating up because the load exceeds the ampacity of the wiring. Lay men's term the wire ampacity is not large enough. You need a wiring up grade already and u have not made your fist payment.GO FORD

OMG, what is Ampacity? I believe the word you are looking for is Amperage, and it is wireless charging, so there are no wires, the battery heats up because being charged quicker than it was designed for.

I like my ‘20 hybrid very much. Ford should have added a heat pump for cool-weather around town driving and ventilated seats for summer.
Also, rotary shifter FTW. Takes up almost no space and you get used to it after a bit.

good review; of the other competitors how many are mechanical AWD?

    • @ghenry85
      @ghenry85 11 месяцев назад

I think the Toyota is the only one that doesn't have a mechanical awd. It's a separate electric motor in the rear axle. Not great in tough off road, but functional in most conditions and provides extra scoot off the line.

Great review! This Ford escape is very good in overall but touchscreen needs to be a little lower. But not surprising on price but I am surprised on gas mileage is very good! I too don’t like firmer ride. I don’t like too quiet turn signal. Oh front end reminds me of Honda Pilot. Great video Andrea! 👍🏻👍🏻☕️☕️

Unfortunately, Ford took the VW Tiguan and put it on the front of this. They took away mirror signals and puddle lamps. They removed amber rear signals and combined brakes and signals. So much cost-cutting! The larger screen is terrible with the delayed animations and the distracted driver aspects of it. Digital gauges are gaudy. A keyless doorpad is now a $450 option. No ventilated front seats and no heated rear seats. The platinum model is just an SEL with an optional Titanium trim you have to get in order to get the upgraded sound system. The hybrid unfortunately gets a CVT instead of the hybrid automatic that they have. Ford really did a terrible job with this refresh. It is also more expensive than a Buick Envision, which is a luxury Crossover. Ford really needs to update this vehicle!
