    Compare with Duncan Mac Rae of Kintail's Lament. Many people don't appear to realise that up until 400 years or so ago, and even long after, Irish and Scots highlanders considered themselves to be just Gaels and were considered as such by the English. Their origins, language, music, customs and dress were all the same. This particular tune may well have been common to both Scotland and Ireland.
