When your having fun making a video things seem to come natural. There always seems to be something interesting to discuss or talk about but then you might have a lengthy video like this one. And I know that not everyone has the time to watch a lengthy whisky review and some just want to glance at a score on the whisky and maybe a few of the reviewers final thoughts on that whisky. I would normally have edited this video 5 to 10 minutes but really did not see any reason to edit and do a shorter version. This video was as much about the Glendronach Port Wood as it was about some of the changes that I have gone through in my approach as amateur reviewer. Every new video can give you that additional experience to learn to hone your craft. And experience has helped me be more comfortable in my reviews and more willing to cover new topics for discussion but it has also made me aware of potential mistakes and misinformation. Where I am going with this is it takes a lot of time invested in research, proof reading and the necessary editing to get to the final product. And I do want to give you an interesting and accurate presentation. Now if you are working another job and have other responsibilities while trying to keep a RUclips whisky channel going you better master your time management. So doing these reviews can be a challenge and is definitely not for everyone. And there's been times I've put that question to myself. Why am I doing this? And if I am struggling and not having fun with a video I might not have that answer right away. But right now I can tell you that "I like the challenge".
So lets get back to the Glendronach Port Wood. This video is much longer than the previous video 'New Whisky Boom or Another Whisky Loch' but that video required a lot more time invested in the accurate research necessary to produce it. One thing about research is it can be slow and time consuming but rewarding in the end product. We will always regret producing a video with fast, 'sloppy' research. This Port Wood video was fun to do and much easier to get through than some other videos. It didn't require a lot of research because I already had a fair bit of knowledge of the Glendronach distillery and their whiskies. It didn't require a lot of editing and as I said I wasn't willing to edit it (at this time). So the only research I did was the other reviews on the whisky. I find that Port finished whisky reviews can be all over the place. The reviews I read on this one wasn't all that bad and certainly not as bad as some others I have had in the past. What I will mention is the 'Non chill filtered" info has been removed from the label on the bottle and container. The 'Natural Color' info is still there. There is an article by Hamish Frasier from the Dram Face web page called 'The Truth About Glendronach' that covers his communication with an anonymous Brown Forman (higher up the ladder) employee who discusses the chill filtration issue. It appears that the chill filtration question on Glendronach whisky is not a black and white answer but he did answer some questions and explain that they work more in the grey area of filtration. Please read the article because it is informative and well written and it saves me the time to explain the whole article to you. And God forbid, I might get it wrong and give you some misinformation. LOL anyways it is well worth the read.
Well let's get back to the Glendronach Port Wood. Was it worth the investment? We will not know unless we watch the review. Please watch it and enjoy!
