- Bare Naked Builds are a new feature for the channel which builds on the Quick Snip concept by going the whole hog and fully building a kit without recourse to paint, sanding or filler.
The idea is to provide a laid bare expose of a kit, giving unsullied insight into the truth of the build.
This second video of the type features the brand new release from Italeri, their 1/48 F-35B Lightning II. I haven't built or even looked at an Italeri kit in a long time, so this should be interesting!
It is a long one, but I'm hopeful that it will be of value to anyone looking at purchasing the kit.

Loved that tip on using wax to make plastic canopies clearer. I have to try that. 👍🏻
I appreciate you doing this. I’m going to be referring back to your experience when I build my copy. I hope it turns out as well.
Italeri gets the accuracy better than Revell. Usually...
Gaps and funny details are part of the bargain.
They didn't quite get the price right this time though... but they are not that far off.
Thank you!
Ehhh... I'm glad it's the B - my favorite variant... but sheesh it seems a bit of faffing about to get this to fit nicely.. I guess if you really want a 1/48 B variant right now its the only game in town... I'd wait for a Tamiya version... if they EVER do it! Thanks for the video
Most Italeri kits are nothing more then glorified Revell kits in my experience. Too many gaps, and poor fitting parts that do not line up correctly. I think you did a smashing job on this one, and once it gets painted and decals applied will look nice. Looking forward to seeing you tackle the Tamiya kit.
A very nice review build. Thank you for uploading.
Jen I'm coming to the end of building this kit so it was really interesting to watch your build. I was impressed with the fit overall. Its a nice well detailed kit and I definetely think Italeri have upped their game with their recent releases although the RAM detail, like all other examples of this subject, is overdone. I used a sanding sponge to take the edges off mine. I used the kits Cartograph decals and they went down really well without decal solution. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
Thanks for this build im going to buy it, enjoy your videos
Just subscribed to your channel , awesome to see naked builds but with so much information thrown in is a fantastic & refreshing refreshing change. Thank you 👌
Welcome Andy, some call it waffle you know .... Glad you're enjoying the naked builds, I quite like them too!
And yet another good video. Well done! 👍👍
Very nice build and review look forward to part 2 thanks
This kit wasn't even on my radar but you've sold it to me! Thanks for another excellent video
Excellent review which I’m sure will be really useful for anyone planning to build it. Many thanks for doing the hard yards! Look forward to seeing your follow ups
Interesting build 🙂
Notice on the box art it shows a British F-35B.But the ground crew fella is wearing an Italian flag on he’s uniform..What a crazy world we live in.!
Great build Jen..But I can’t work out why we’ve got to be bare naked to watch it.?..I’m scaring the dog🐶.. 🥸👍
The model is bare and naked - not you lol
So it's not as good as the Tamiya kit?
Um ..... no
At least you don't have to paint / mask all that "stealth masking tape " any more .! I think the kit does look nice unpainted , certainly gives a good impression of the detail ! (........and there's me complaining that "stealth jets" in general are not very detailed and involving to build !! Certainly not true of F-35 variants . it is like having another almost complete aircraft inside the fuselage .)
