I honestly have no idea why I'm here... But I watch every video... As someone from the UK I have no real interest in big trucks, I also have no background or interest in groundworks or typically American festivals such as this. Yet I'm still clicking every video! Must be something about the way you present the videos, find them weirdly calming... Keep it up! What ever it is! 🤣

Hi Neil, not sure if you’ll see this comment but just a note to say thanks for your videos. My wife gave birth to our son 8 weeks ago and I’ve been in charge of the midnight and 3am feeds. I’ve been catching up on your videos every night and have watched all of the pond and Bruno series. It’s made the wake ups bearable (and actually enjoyable) 😂
So next time you release a video, just know that there will be two Australians (one big and one tiny) tuning in at 3am 🫡

enjoy watching your vidieos every week! one tip on cleaning the 331, pull the belly pan covers, tilt the cab up and pull the floor board out and wash the belly pan out. Bunch of steel hydraulic lines that lay there in dirt an mud and will eventually rust and get pin holes. We had several problems with our 333G and now we make sure to wash it out at least twice a year lol. Keep the videos coming!

Not knowing much about skid loaders, wouldn't have been a lot easier to use the power washer to clean the mud out of the tracks? Repacking the mud for the sake of the shot, that shows some true dedication to the craft of film making. Little concerning about the trust you have in someone borrowing your toys. You know they will always come back to you in worse shape than they left you. Not a character flaw, just you have a big heart. Insomuch as the raffle thing, one of your 57,000 cousins won, so it was kept in the family. As always Neil, love home and kiss the girls for me.

Neil, our community celebration has grown into a huge week long Festival. Queen & King coronation, Cutest baby, Ugliest Dog, Musical Concerts, Car Show, Tractor &Truck Pull, Antique Engine/Vehicle/Tractor Show, Mule Showdeo, 1 mile long parade, Arts and Crafts Fair, etc.
It culminates Saturday evening with the Marching Band Festival. I participated in the first year as a second string, 9th grade, trumpet player. At that time the Marching Band Festival was all that there was. And, it had only 12 bands.
The next year they decided to add a parade… and in the ensuing 56 years it has swollen into the largest celebration in our Four State Area. This year there were over 200 Parade entries and 60 marching bands competing in the marching band contest.
The Festival’s dates are used by almost all other towns around to schedule their events. No one competes against it for their fall festivals, concerts or rodeos.
In the process it has lost most of its small town charm and community feel. Those are gone, victims of the festivals’ success.
The community does benefit a lot from the festival. 56 years of past experiences bring back a lot of friends and relatives. Vendors of everything from Funnel Cakes to Motel Rooms profit… as do the state and local taxes. It has become the ‘thing’ that many identify our town with.
But, for me, the memories of those first few years are still the fondest. No Traffic snarls, meeting and visiting with friends, taking time to just enjoy a few events… were simpler then. And those who organized and volunteered time and resources were appreciated.
I’m glad that your Harlan Days celebration has retained its small town feel. I hope it continues to do so. The commercialization that comes with success is a powerful stimulus to growth…. And replacement of community pride with Civic Pride. And, that’s where the ‘feel’ grows out of grasp.
I’d love to come and feel the spirit and camaraderie of Harlan Days… maybe we can do so next year.
Thanks for sharing your community’s little festival. It is certainly a treasure with cherishing.

    • @digdrivediy
      @digdrivediy  2 месяца назад +1

Your festival sounds like one I would enjoy visiting as well. I marched in many parades as a high schooler and I'm guessing my daughters may be doing the same in a couple years.
I don't picture us ever growing much beyond what we are now. On Saturday night of this year, we parked more cars than we ever have before. They were parking at the church down the road and walking nearly a mile to get to the midway. So if we are able to make it bigger, we're gonna need to tackle that problem first.
If you do decide to come one of these years be sure to let me know! I'll buy you a Lemonade Shake Up from my high school gym teacher who has been selling them from the same spot on the midway for 40 years!
Thanks as always for the comments and support. Sorry I've been lax on getting to them all lately.
