As a Londoner, I have visited their flagship store many times. Long opening times and great staff make it a good experience. I have a suit, black tie ensemble, and ~10 dress shirts from them. The value for money is good, especially when you buy shirts in bulk for a discount. Keep up the good work!
If you're on their post and email mailing list you get to receive frequent and very good discounts; a 25% discount offer was received in the post yesterday.
I worked for Charles Tyrwhitt for a year (leaving only one month ago) in their Stratford store, and mostly second this review; it's an awesome company with awesome people. Just eyeballing, I would recommend the Super Slim Fit for you Preston! The only caveat is that the cuffs are shorter than the other fits, have one button instead of two, and I believe the newer models have a slightly shorter collar depth. I would also definitely recommend their new ‘Tyrwhitt Pique Polo’ range for a great fit, comfortable fabric, and a collar that actually looks good - they produce the best polos I have ever worn. However, I disagree with the negative feedback on the trousers - last year, they had a massive overhaul, introducing many new ranges and cuts. I would say that their ‘dressed 24/7’ casual chinos are superb in terms of comfort, fit, and quality, and I constantly receive complements on them. They might not work for everyone, though. I could talk about their stuff all day, but thank-you for brining this excellent brand to more people’s attention. Also, many congratulations on the marriage!
Good insight, thanks. Just had a look at their website (from Australia). Could not find the 24/7 chinos. Only ultimate, non-iron and soft-washed. Any ideas?
@@chrish2879 Hi Chris! They do have a problem with the naming of their product ranges - they are sometimes inconsistent, unhelpful, and non-advertised. In this case, ‘Dressed 24/7’ and the ‘Ultimate Chinos’ are the same; they seem to flip flop between the two names. In a ‘trouser’ training session that we had, they told us to distinguish between the different trouser ranges mainly by the taper. I like the Ultimate Chinos the best because they are the most tapered, and don’t have a crease down the front, making them more versatile. Their ‘Non-Iron Chinos’ (also known as ‘Dressed to the Nines’) are less tapered in the leg, and have a permanent crease. Though I also really like these, I feel I can only really wear them with sports coats. In this range, they have 'textured' versions that are made of a slightly different material, which I find extremely comfortable. I have no experience with the soft-washed chinos, so can unfortunately not comment.
@@heroandvillainstyle Wow, thanks very much for your reply! Very helpful. My only experience of ordering shirts online has been with TM Lewin, who I used happily for years. When I heard about CT, I must admit that I thought they were just a TML-wannabe. This video, your detailed info and a thorough look through their website have convinced me otherwise. I'll definitely give them a go. Thanks again!
I have three pairs of the soft-washed chinos in 100% cotton. They are superb in regards of strength. I ride my bicycle 8 km to and from work every day in them, and I have been doing so for a year now. They are not showing any sign of wear or tear in the crotch area.
Funny thing is, I’m watching this in a Tyrwhitt suit. To be honest I would only partially recommend them for suits, the seat of my trousers has worn a patch through, this is from wearing it 2 days a week for a few months....not terribly impressive but my other suit is still immaculate so perhaps I just drew the long straw on that one. I would concur that the fits are a bit off, I will need to get mine adjusted in the future. If you could do another one of these videos for T.M Lewin that would be brilliant!
@@kyle_vr I'd say it depends what you want. With that budget there's a lot of online custom companies like hockerty or pickashirt etc to go with though how good they are I really couldn't say. There will definitely be tailors in the UK who do a suit for a similar price- I know a friend who got a 2 piece suit made for £650. You could try Tyrwhitt custom, I know they certainly used to do custom but not bespoke suits around that price point. I personally would either find a place with nice fabrics, be that from somewhere Tywhitt/ hawes and curtis and then take that suit to an alterations tailor or find a vintage suit online and take that to an alterations tailor. Victory vintage has some nice selections quite often if you are more inclined to an online shop for vintage suits, though ebay and depop can also be surprisingly good

At first: Congratulations on your wedding, Preston! And thank you for the video about the Charles Thyrwhitt pieces. I was looking forward to this since the first post about the theme.
I only buy CT clothing, I like that their slim fit runs a bit bigger as its a perfect fit for me but it is bigger than say a TM Lewin Slim Fit which I can't fit into. I think CTs best offering is their blazers/sports jackets and I own several of them.
Good and comprehensive video! I have purchased both Tyrwhitt shirts and ties and, for the most part, am satisfied with the quality/price ratio. That said, I prefer the fit/quality of Brooks Brothers’ shirts.
Nothing at all, on my account. Just because of their horrible advertising. I returned my membership card a long time ago, when you still hd to have one of those, and I have told them why. Nasty bunch, SuSu. (Most websites don't even alow you to use their initials, as such. Nomen est omen!)
I just received today my first Tyrwhitt dress shirts. I got them during a multi-buy deal, costing about $30/shirt. I find the fabric quite nice, with pleasingly longer shirt tails than I am used to seeing in most of my dress shirts. Overall, quality seems to be quite high.
'Even when I'm not wearing my ring, I'm wearing my ring.' That was a point I always kept in mind as an aviation mechanic in the Army, and I suspect it will be in the forefront of your, too. No explanations necessary, Preston. Congratulations on your wedding.

Congratulations on your wedding! And thanks for the Tyrwhitt recommendation, looking for a new car coat for the upcoming winter and will check them out.
I just placed an order with Tyrwhitt and looking forward to it. I place an multi order on spread collar shirts I need to look at other item like ties and pocket squares.
I was just wondering what your opinion is of Hawes and Curtis, they're another British shirtmaker from jermyn street, which I get my shirts from. Great video by the way! Also well done Preston!
I would also love to see/watch a review on Hawes & Curtis as well as T.M. Lewin. These are very similar price point wise to C.T. Congratulations Preston!
I ordered a wide range of clothing items from Hawes & Curtis and every single item in the order (apart from a hat and a tie) had both incorrect sizing and ludicrous tailoring proportions that would fit no normal human body, (and I know very well what my measurements are). I had to return everything for a refund. It was a very strange experience.
In my experience, their shirts are not of the highest quality but do last long enough. My two HC shirts got worn off slightly over two years of constant use but they have not yet fallen apart. They come with plastic collar holders so not the fancy brass ones that CTs have. I think a slight advantage they do have over the CT is that the individual price for each shirt is slightly lower, and they offer higher Christmas discounts (17 pounds for each on christmas 2017).
You'll be fortunate if you can find any off the peg trousers with a traditional rise, aka 'high-waisted'. And if you DO know of any company that provides them, do please let me know!
They’re a very popular UK high street brand. Very much off the self and mediocre quality. Have to say probably the worst fitting shirt I have ever brought. However their light knit jumpers fit well and nicely stylised.
I am a long-standing CT customer, and I think you have got it spot on here. I would not choose their suits and probably steer clear of most of the polos. But I have a number of excellent CT pieces: silk-blend shirts; knitwear (especially the knitted blazer); knitted polos; and chinos from their best range. Wearing today a white CT shirt with Fleur de Lys cufflinks from the same house. They've overtaken Lewin, who have really regressed in my opinion. I do find it annoying that both Tyrwhitt and Lewin have tiny fonts on the latest versions of their web sites. This just looks cheap. Nothing wrong with CT customer service though.
I want to wear morning dress for a more formal wedding with my wife too, you have the distinct advantage of working with a master in Ralphel (I'm very envious of that 😁)
I have bought and enjoyed Charles Tyrwhitt dress shirts for over 7 years. Great quality and with an athletic build, the shirt fit well, durable and look great. I'd highly recommend them.
Tyrwhitt doesn't sell made-to-measure shirts, they simply have numerous sizing options which is their strength. But the big drawback about their shirts is that they're fused. TM Lewin shirts, at a similar and often lower price range, are better made and unfused, and also have a better cut.
I don’t know if this is a dumb question or not but, what would be a good outfit for a high schooler that wants to dress up a little bit. I don’t really want to wear sweat pants, jeans, and t shirts anymore.
Congratulations on your wedding. Also, being that today is September 11th, let us acknowledge the horrific attacks that took nearly three-thousand American lives nineteen years ago today. May God bless you and your marriage and may He bless our great nation. 🇺🇸🗽💪
this is the most accurate review about Tyrwhitt.. Other youtubers love to bash on CT, simply because they don't pay them money for "advertising". Which 100% disagree. As stated in this channel. some of their items are really great quality for the price.
I've received Charles Tyrwhitt French cuff shirts as a gift and was very happy with the fit and quality. You look very sharp in your choice of wedding clothing. Thanks for the post.
Congrats on the wedding! I've been ordering shirts off and on from Tyrwhitt since the early 90's (that'll give you an idea how old I am!) and I've always been very pleased with the fabric quality and fit!
I bought brown Oxford shoes on sale(leather sole), to be honest it was very painful to walk them in. (I still have a wound on my foot) But right now, these schoes are just wonderful. When a train was cancelled I took the opportunity for a short hiking trip. (about 10km/6,2miles) Mostly I was walking through a forest, hill up, hill down. I was very surprised how well I got along, especially because most of the gras was a little wet. Also it was quite fun to observe the reaction of other people, when you meet in a dark forest, dressed completly up. 10/10 would do it again.
I'll be moving to Virginia in a month for a new job, and right across the street from my work is a Charles Tyrwhitt! I can't wait to visit it and see their offerings.
My personal experiences in short: good quality knitwear; shirts are great value, but the wrist circumference of the cuffs is generally made for marvel superheroes. Besides that, I would appreciate a wider range of collar styles. I do own one pair of CT shoes made of cheap "bookbinder's leather", which makes for a painful and unsightly wearing experience. Congrats, Preston. All the best for you and your wife. Greetings from Germany!
Another mainly mail-order retailer that might be worth considering reviewing is "Paul Fredrick Mens' Style" a mainly mail order and online retailer based in Fleetwood, PA and (in many cases ) that can be seen advertising along with Charles Tyrwhitt in many of the same periodicals and that offers a very similar line of apparel and accessories.
Congratulations Preston! Re: Charles Tyrwhitt, I’ve purchased many shirts over the years as well as cuff links and suits. Great style on all offerings with nice details on the suits. Speaking of suits, had to return one and had no issues whatsoever - impeccable customer service.
The first CT shirt I bought, some ten years ago, was a flanel one, in a Tattersall check, a pattern you hardly ever find in The Netherlands, where I live. I love that check and it provides that specifically British 'out-in-the-country' but still gentlemanly look when combined with fabrics like tweeds and ribcords, both of which I am really fond of wearing. (In The Netherlands 'out in the country' basically starts around the corner of almost any city street, with only a few exceptions, like the old center of Amsterdam and the new center of Rotterdam.) Over the years I purchased some more of those flanels in Tattersall and also a few dress shirts, although for smooth business camisas I prefer -and probably are spoiled by- the Napolitan Luigi Borrelli shirts, with their softer collars and the slight puffing of the sleave heads. But for the checked flanels Tyrwitht has become my trusted go-to purveyor. However -the however you probably knew would come- one thing I noticed from the first to the latest purchase I made at CT: the buttons drop off like there's no tomorrow, as if they were fixex with some cobweb! Sometimes even a couple of them, straght away, the very first time I fasten them. Just by touching them in the slightest way the thread unravels, right before your eyes. That can be no coincidence, for it happened every time and with any shirt. I can't imagine it's just my bad luck: there must be something awry with the type of sewing machines, or the method used, and I'm sure others must have had the same experience. Fortunately, I have become quite handy with needle and threat over the years since I'm wearing clothing I buy 'or the rest of my life' - i.e. quality classic/traditional- and I don't dislike that kind of work, but my sweet revenge consists of the fact that I put the buttons back on by using the 'zampa di gallina', -crow's feet, or litterally 'chicken claw' stitch, the one used by finest shirtmakers in Napoli... I do like Tyrwhitt's shirts a lot, but I felt I should mention this flaw, of which I suspect it is a atructural and avoidable one. Some buyers might even get propperly irritated and skip CT for that reason, which would be a loss for all parties involved.
Congrats on the wedding! Before i discovered Charles Tyrwhitt in 2015 I had given up hope of ever finding a good dress shirt. I had been buying off the peg shirts from JC Penney and Macy’s but I knew I needed to up my game. I tried Brooks Brothers but the shirts I could find with an 18 inch collar were big all round and I felt like I was wearing a sail. Same with JosA Bank. I found CT online somehow and discovered they could do a Slim Fit shirt with an 18 collar. I couldn’t believe it but I clicked Buy and have never looked back. It fit PERFECTLY! I have a dozen shirts by them now plus pocket squares, cuff links, ties, and sweaters. I’ve returned a couple things without incident. Their customer support is stellar. I once had a really specific question about whether you button both buttons on their sweater blazer (since on a real blazer you’d only ever button the top one) and the customer service actually checked with the designer of the sweater and got back to me the next day (you button both when it’s a sweater blazer). Couldn’t believe how amazing they were. Their stuff does run large (I’m heavier and I still wear a Slim Fit) but it’s all tailored to look good. No “sails” at Charles Tyrwhitt. I don’t care for their trousers because, as Preston said, the rise isn’t high enough, but everything else I’ve bought is great. All in all, I love CT. The biggest bummer about not being on the office due to Covid is that I don’t have the opportunity to wear all my CT shirts!
Late reply, but who's to say you can't wear nice dress shirts at home? My father, ever since I can remember, has always worn dress shirts, trousers, a tie, dress socks even whilst lounging at home. You can, too!

@@sooovann8908 they are close, I like eterna best, but Olymp is probably better price/quality wise. I'm tall and slightly on the heavier side, and both allow for longer sleeve length and sizes.
Thank you Preston for a thorough review of their products. As consequence 1 purchased four shirts and happily followed that up with a similar order. I also mentioned The Gentleman's Gazette in their customer service feedback.
I honestly don't understand the price strategy. Is there anything that is not permanent in sale? Very suspect to me. This unrealistic pretended initial price was never called for sure. So just a marketing trick, making me believe doing a great decision and buy more? My personal conclusion: staying away!
Superb quality and service in-store - I am an athletic fit and found it impossible to find shirts that actually fit rather than looking boxy. The range of products, patterns and materials are fantastic for their price. Quality is high and durable
Most of my work shirts are from CT, as well as many of my casual shirts. I have bought a few ties from them that I quite like. Their luxury Italian silk ties are fantastic, especially if you get them on sale. I did buy two pairs of pants from them that literally fell apart in short order. I would never buy pants from them again.
Charles Tyrwhitt seemingly does have a ‘loyalty’ program but it isn’t very transparent. All I know is I have spent thousands in their store in a calendar year and they send me an unlimited 20% off voucher multiple times a year.
as with Uniqlo, the colors are off. I find their shirts to be of a significantly lighter color than shown in the pictures. Just was Uniqlo pants which are of a way darker color than shown in the pictures. No idea why they would have such a discrepancy of fotos vs. real life because the quality is good. Also note that Tyrwhitt shirts are generally very wide and not fitted. Their most slim fit option barely counts toward a slim-ish fit. I am not sure if I will buy from them againb, long term testing will show if the non-iron shirts will hold up. So far my impression is positive.
I am 5'10 between 215 to 220 lb, and the classic fit is too big for me. Interestingly, My first purchase was two classic shirts, and I only return one because one fit closer than the other. I was able to live with one classic, but the slim fit is perfect for me
I used to shop at CT a lot around 7-10 years ago. They used to be a better brand. Somehow, what they sell now looks cheap. That being said, obviously one can still find decent stuff there.

I have bought and enjoyed Charles Tyrwhitt dress shirts for over 7 years. Great quality and with an athletic build, the shirt fit well, durable and look great. I'd highly recommend them.
Only just seen this video. Good luck to you and your missus.
Tyrwhitt doesn't sell made-to-measure shirts, they simply have numerous sizing options which is their strength. But the big drawback about their shirts is that they're fused. TM Lewin shirts, at a similar and often lower price range, are better made and unfused, and also have a better cut.
How do there sizes run for the opposite of slim or extra-slim (i.e. XL or XXL, athletic build)
Forget the shirts, get the umbrella's! They're gold!
Shirts run big but if you get the right size, it may be one of the best fitting shirts you’ve ever owned
I love Charles tyrwhitt. Every shirt I own is from them.
I thought they went out of business because of the broscience lockdown in the uk!
I don’t know if this is a dumb question or not but, what would be a good outfit for a high schooler that wants to dress up a little bit. I don’t really want to wear sweat pants, jeans, and t shirts anymore.
You might want to go a bit preppie. Chinos, polo, loafers. If it fits your personality. You’ll be a cut above the crowd.
Evan Rice Thanks! I’ve actually been looking for a good pair of loafers recently.
Awesome wedding look! Congratulations and may you have many happy years together :)
Can you do the Van Laack, I absolutely love that brand. Great suits and incredible shirts.
I've received Charles Tyrwhitt French cuff shirts as a gift and was very happy with the fit and quality. You look very sharp in your choice of wedding clothing. Thanks for the post.
Great review, can you please do Hackett next?
Great video Preston and, I believe congratulations are in order! Congratulations on your marriage! Wonderful news! Lisa
@10:35 can you please fix the spelling of "received"?. you have a top quality channel. the minor error detracts. thank you
Congrats on the wedding!
Congratulations! I hope you'll be able to have your more formal event in the not too distant future.
All my shirts are French cuff, really good company.
Congratulations, Preston. Wish your marriage to be as good as the content you develop.
Yes, don't we all need to wear mourning dress at our own weddings.
Big fan of CT shirts. I own dozens of shirts.
Congratulations Preston!
Re: Charles Tyrwhitt, I’ve purchased many shirts over the years as well as cuff links and suits. Great style on all offerings with nice details on the suits. Speaking of suits, had to return one and had no issues whatsoever - impeccable customer service.
Congratulations, Preston! Well done!

I have a slim linen shirt that I quite like
The first CT shirt I bought, some ten years ago, was a flanel one, in a Tattersall check, a pattern you hardly ever find in The Netherlands, where I live.

Congrats Preston! Wishing you & your wife a happy married life ahead 🙂🙏🏻
There is a you tuber called Gallucks that did a reaction to one of your videos today. Maybe you could check it out and react to his video.
Yes Tito
Please don't. His accent is abhorrent. After a minute or two you just switch off...
@@wagenknechtparteiling Well, I'm not saying that it is a good video or a good critique to the channel. I just want them to know and maybe watch the video.
Yes Krunoslav I had seen it, one thing I hate most is his hypocrisy...can't stand that Galluck boy.
@@leorexsangma8501 Yes, he propagates another type of "fashion-forward" menswear and I guess he thinks that people that wear more classic clothing are not stylish.
I don't watch him either, I just stumbled across that video today.
Their chinos are fantastic, great fit and fantastic material!
Best shirts for the price hands down
Congratulations on your marriage, Preston! God bless you both. :)
Congratulations, Preston. Great video, I am really liking my CT shirts.
Congrats Preston! You looked so dapper on your wedding day!!
Thanks for this, Preston and Raphael.
What's your take on Peter Manning?
One of my favorite brand for dress shirts at an affordable price. Thank you for the video and congrats for your marriage!
Could you try reviewing its main rival T.M Lewin ? Or the french parisian brand Hast ?
And when you're at it, perhaps some German brands like eterna or Olymp, too. :)
barvdw I don’t know those two. Which one would you recommend the most ?
@@sooovann8908 they are close, I like eterna best, but Olymp is probably better price/quality wise. I'm tall and slightly on the heavier side, and both allow for longer sleeve length and sizes.
barvdw I’ll check both thank you! Do they have non-iron shirts like Charles Tyrwhitt?
@@sooovann8908 I think so, but don't remember (and can't check right now).
It is peasant catchery for sure
@@gentlemansgazette Gibt es das Wort "Bauernfänger" wirklich so im Englischen? Wollte es anwenden, aber hab es nicht gefunden ;)
Congratulations on the wedding, Preston.
In my opinion, TMLewin and Hawes and Curtis are much better value (and quality!) and are much better established!
Charles Tyrwhitt seemingly does have a ‘loyalty’ program but it isn’t very transparent. All I know is I have spent thousands in their store in a calendar year and they send me an unlimited 20% off voucher multiple times a year.
Congratulations Preston!
I am very happy for you
They make great dress shirts as well as casual shirts. Their ties are pretty impressive too, a little stiff but good value for the $$
as with Uniqlo, the colors are off.
American men have gone very casual. How is the company doing, did they change their styles?
I am 5'10 between 215 to 220 lb, and the classic fit is too big for me. Interestingly, My first purchase was two classic shirts, and I only return one because one fit closer than the other. I was able to live with one classic, but the slim fit is perfect for me
Nothing. Those low end shirts only cost about 5 pound to manufacture.
I used to shop at CT a lot around 7-10 years ago. They used to be a better brand. Somehow, what they sell now looks cheap. That being said, obviously one can still find decent stuff there.
Huge congratulations Preston, getting married was one of the biggest Blessings in my life. May you have an amazing marriage!!
