After watching this anime, I feel empty. Knowing that there are rarely any anime out there that will give me the same feeling as this, it makes me feel that way. Nowadays there aren’t any anime like this, I found myself going down a rabbit hole of manga/animes looking for a similar story, though the list gets shorter and shorter. I would appreciate any anime recommendations from the people reading this, I know some of you have a variety to share.
@@stalfos268 I’ve watched it 3 times within this year. Texhnolyze is my favorite philosophical anime of them all. Well, so far. Do you have any other similar recommendations?
@@ofthosewholiveinthecloudyriver Wish I knew more. I assume if you've watched Texhnolyze that many times, you've probably encountered other shows written by Chiaki J Konaka. Likewise I assume you already are familiar with Satoshi Kon. Those would've been my next suggestions. Maybe some of Mamoru Oshii's films during the period from Angel's Egg through Ghost In The Shell 2. Currently watching Wolf's Rain (at ep 10), it has that gray, grittier early 2000s anime kinda vibe so far. Mushishi is less dark and serialized but it's a relaxing, slower paced, artsier, more mature, episodic romp. In manga there's Junji Ito or Urasawa's other post-Monster series. If I can think of more I'll respond back here. But anime has been a real cultural wasteland since the 2008 crash for those with tastes for these sorts of shows and films. Otherwise the closest you're gonna find to Monster is in live-action cinema and TV. David Lynch (definitely Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet) and Alfred Hitchcock being the most immediate influences on Urasawa here.
This anime has such a beautiful soundtrack... I especially love this and "It's a Long Way to Go", that one makes me tear up a bit. It makes me feel even more strongly about the characters and everything.
@arkedysvidrigailov in my opinion, MONSTER has the best anime soundtrack ive ever heard. i think its even better than death notes osts and thats saying something.
For me, it definitely comes down to this and Cowboy Bebop for best soundtracks. They are both so good, though. Though there isn't much stylistic variation, and it's not necessarily music I would go out of my way to listen to, I think Monster's soundtrack is great for evoking certain emotions and bringing mood to certain scenes. That is a sign of a good soundtrack; it helps to tell the story.
cómo es posible que con tan pocos recursos estilíticos, se pueda cautivar y fascinar tanto al espectador. Me refiero a que no hace servir de tantos "efectos especiales" para absorberte. Tendria que haber una pelicula de ello con personajes en vivo
Reminiscing with the soundtrack provides a very poignant wistfulness, it was only around half a year ago I finished Monster but it’s one of those experiences that quickly feels nostalgic.
Idk why I watched Monster this late. I am at Episode 72 and I don't like the feeling that this anime will end today..... This anime just got a place in my heart and it gave me crazy Death Note vibes (although it should be the other way around).
I picked up this anime again after a break of about 6 months…and was immediately hit with this beautiful melody and a wave of nostalgia..I still habe about 15 episodes left .🥹
they should definitely make a Monster video game, you play as 3 or 4 characters dr.Tenma, Nina and Detective Lunge or even Johan, just like heavy rain...a story full of critical decision and every decision you choose effects the story and it continues...and a great plot twist, they should fool you into thinking that Dr. Tenma is our man, the serial killer.
+Emily Brunhilde that sounds like a great idea! Heavy Rain and Monster do have similar atmospheres and are both very dialogue heavy and character driven. Incredibly difficult to pull off, however..
Que triste me pone el ver comentarios de hace años, pero me pone aun más triste el saber que gente en el futuro va a pensar lo mismo pero con mi comentario. En fin el tiempo pasa muy rápido :(
This is such a good anime. What I think is truly the deeper meaning behind Monster is the value of a human life. Johan Liebert represents holding no value for life while Dr. Kenzo Tenma is someone who holds great value for life. Johan believes killing people makes the world a better place while Dr. Tenma believes that saving lives is precious. Monster holds my regard as being the second greatest anime ever made because life holds a very deep meaning to our hearts. If Neon Genesis Evangelion didn’t exist, this would be my favorite and the greatest anime of all time.

berserk , full metal Alchemist, erased, terror in resonance try these
Texhnolyze is sci-fi and shorter but it's similarly a grittier and more mature, philosophical show from Studio Madhouse around the same release time.

This anime is perfect for several reasons, this is one
I really like the Death Note Soundtack because of its heavy guitars. Monsters OST is much more classic using an orchrester.
@Keiko Kennedy not just violins, are you deaf. ?
The beginning of the track just blows you away.

"Mañana puede ser un buen día". Por esas cosas Tenma es mi protagonista favorito.

This is the best soundtrack in the show. There is something so sad but yet beautiful about it. I cant explain it. Goosebumps.
I love this soundtrack!
