Your joybul backpacking days have just begun! I started in my early 20's and backpacked for over 30 years during my vacations. Work always sucked but it was worth it for my incredible adventures. It's a big beautiful country and there are so many great wilderness areas to visit. Be happy for the trails in front of you!

Best of luck pursuing your passion for hiking/backpacking. Consider yourself among the few who actually take the leap as opposed to “just talking” about pursuing their dream. Definitely look forward to seeing your new gear and enjoy the family time.

It's not just thru-hikers who get that "WTF am I doing here?" and would rather be on trail. The longest trip I've had was 14 days, but I've had that "WTF" feeling as soon as I got in the car to go home when I finished the trail. That was 2 years ago. 😢 I'm still stuck in 9 to 5 hell, and will be either until I retire in 4 years, or I win a lottery. Or die. Whichever comes first.
I've also applied to jobs in the outdoor industry, and have had no luck.
How exciting that you've invented something and have a patent application for it! 👏👏 That's really cool. I can't wait to see it 😊

You can make money and you can lose money.... but you cannot make time. You achieved and experienced a pinnacle that most people will never get to experience. In reality, people do what people want to do. Hope is the future, the past is behind you. You now have the present time, which is a "gift." I still believe your desire to give back and share with others is your life's calling. With me, prayer is either your steering wheel or your spare tire. Focus on the road ahead, keep your chin up and hike on!

Is becoming a ridgerunner for the forestry service or ATC or whomever handles that an option? In one of the more southern states it could be a year long gig, more seasonal in the northern states I would think. I've seen a video by a lady who does that on the AT. She does small scale trail maintenance (folding handsaw type stuff), calls in the areas that require chainsaws to clear and camps on trail like any other hiker, complete with all the standard backpacking gear, food, water filter, etc., plus folding handsaw, for however many days she's on the trail. Don't know what it pays or if you patrol the same area all the time so 🤷🏼‍♀️. Just a thought and maybe one you've already considered 🤔.
Can't wait to see what cool invention you've got a "Patent Pending" on. 😊

That's beautiful my friend, you are speaking for all of us who long for a simpler life. I grew up in the woods and the woods were my playground as a child, then l had to work for a living and the old adage of if you are working for a living then why are you killing yourself working has always been my guidance. Thank you sweet pea☺️

However, it sounds like you are on to something with the shake-down hikes, and your gear invention. Can't wait to see it. Nice your dad is coming to pay a visit. Enjoy! I've seen a dozen if I've seen one, people who've left normal life, sold their homes, possessions, etc, quit their jobs and become full time RUclipsrs.
Some have bought small Van's and converted them for travel, a few hike and then get part time jobs in between hikes.
You're at 7 thousand subscribers, you have a good starting base, you fit the profile of a popular RUclipsr, maybe you'll find the wherewithal to leave the "grind" and go forth as a full time content provider.
We may see the World as messed up right now but technology and the internet make it possible for people to find their passions and monetize them.
Not everyone can become a "star" but as I said, you fit the profile, you have skills, use them to fulfill your dreams.

Im sorry the NC job didnt work out thats where im from. Sounded like a good plan but im not surprised about the pay part of it. Thats NC we have a governor that literally doesnt care. On a side not congratulations on the new Patton and the new product you are working on. You should be super proud of that. It takes a lot guts to make something new. Just be care and dont over Welm your self with it. Only because you said your makeing it your self. And not in a product line. Because i have seen things like this before personally. And all it takes is for one person out there on the internet to show that product to someone or some company and next thing you know. You got an oder of thousands of that product. And they can't do it that fast. Just keep that in mind. Im not trying to make you worry or anything. But im just giveing you a heads up. I think i speak for everyone that we all care about you even tho we have never met you we all want to see you Succeed in life. your doing a great job with your channel and you will allways have my support. And much love from NC ❤ and be safe out there

Nope - I must politely disagree; these are two huge commitments, and must be something you REALLY want! Much like hiking the AT, a lot of people start and quit bc it’s too hard or they rushed into something ill prepared. Not saying don’t do it, but I think it is okay to not have that desire to (or even if just not right now ;)
