Driving decarbonisation: from ‘what’ to ‘how’ with Tokyo Gas

Tokyo Gas is Japan’s largest supplier of natural gas to power, industrial and residential customers. With Shell, they developed carbon offset liquefied natural gas (LNG)*, a critical fuel in the energy transition. Today, the two companies are developing the use of liquid synthetic gas, or e-methane, for hard-to-electrify industries.
In this short film, Tokyo Gas CEO Shinichi Sasayama explains the actions Tokyo Gas is taking to reduce carbon emissions and why they choose to work with Shell as their decarbonisation journey moves from “what” to “how” to do it.
*Carbon credits are purchased and retired to compensate the calculated lifecycle CO2 emissions of LNG. CO2 compensation may not be exact and is not a substitute for avoiding or reducing emissions.
