What the country (and the World) needs is a new construction program.
During WW2, there was the industrial war machine, where most companies produced war components. Coupled with that there was the development of the Atomic Bomb.
Everyone needs to come together to build O’Neill Cylinders and a Star Tram that doubles as a Hyperloop across the US to help move that mass into Orbit. Besides expanding rocket launches.
If we want to go to any planet safely and properly, we need to park cylinders in orbit to expand humanity.
Besides providing a safe, Earth-like Environment, we would Eliminate wars for borders and space.
From universities, simple economic opportunity, to providing a safe space for people who are displaced, building these Megastructures Is The Answer Everyone Thneeds.

Simply awesome! In this RUclips there's a young lady that is career focused and her education from CCBC will help her reach her goals. Emma is an excellent example of the grit that Beaver County has and is using to propel itself for the generations to come.
We get oil from drilling, but we can also get oil and residues from Algae, Cow farms, and Lignin (trees and bamboo, besides bamboo carbon fiber)
These carbon products can then be combined and integrated with graphene from various processes (especially flash graphene) and Carbon nanotubes, which you can get from syngas.
