I love those bean soups. ( I live just about any soup or stew….lol…). I make some cornbread and slice up some sweet onion to munch on the side. Huge glass of iced tea.
I love you so. My grandmother had a wringer washer. I wanted to help but she wouldnt let me for fear I would get caught in the wringer. I learned a lot from her. Cooking, canning, crocheting. That was in the 50s so you know I'm old!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hi Robin! My Mom had a Maytag wringer washing machine. A galvanized round tube for rinse water that set on two saw horses. I loved sheets on my bed that had frozen and dried on the line in winter. My heart tells me times were better than. People could take care of themselves and their neighbors. Seems like too much of what was good has been lost. What made us a great nation has been forgotten and thrown in the dust bin. Sad
old fashioned recipes are often the best! I find people are so fussy about what they eat , not for dietary reasons just because ... i thoroughly enjoy my soups and meals that i had as I was growing up! the best tastes along with the memories...
One of the highlights of my childhood was visiting my Great Aunt and Great Grandma in Kansas when I was visiting my Grandparents for the summer. My aunt did all the clothes, bedding, etc on and old Maytag ringer washer. My cousin and I used to fight over whose turn it was to put the clothes through the ringer. I am sure my aunt would have gotten done with the laundry faster if she didn't have us pestering her.
It's been a long time since I made 15 bean soup. We had Navy bean and ham soup last week. So good. Now I want to make this soup too. Yes my mom had a wringer washing machine too. Monday was laundry day and Tuesday was ironing day. She would sprinkle the clothes and roll them up and iron them the next day. LOL Hanging her clothes outside on the line in the summer and on a line in the basement in the winter. Oh the memories.
Bean soup is one of my favorites! If you add a teaspoon or so of liquid smoke you can get that hammy flavor without the ham. Delish! TY Robin. Really enjoy your videos
My neighbor had a wringer washer that sat in the middle of the basement. She also had a goldfish pond in her backyard so I would visit her a lot when I was a child. I haven't thought about that in years. Back then we were all free range kids.
The hurricane devastation is unbelievable. My heart breaks for the people & their pets. My mom had a 2 sided washer. It washed on one side then you put the clothes in the other side to wring them out. 🍽️🥰
We had a wringer washer when I was Little. We were a family of 7 and my Grandma (Nanny) would make a big pot of butter beans for dinner and we would have that with buttered bread ! Loved it and I still make butter beans
My Granda had a wringer washer. Always hung her laundry out to dry. In the late 60s she received a washer. She didn't like it very good. Pray for my sister and Mom. They are evacuating FL right now. Trying to flee Milton. They are driving to PA.
Meatless Monday, yeah. Sounds looks delicious. With some biscuits or cornbread, yum. That is a lot of soup for one person ♥. We had a wringer washer also. Good memories.
Your soup looks DELICIOUS, and I've always loved bean soup. My sister made a bean soup with all the mixed beans like that, the best I've ever eaten. She didn't use any meat. She didn't have any fresh tomatoes but she put a can of condensed tomato soup in it with just a few veggies she had. She also threw in some tiny alphabet pasta. No kidding, it was so good. And what a GREAT Idea to declare every laundry day, soup day! Why didn't I ever think of that?! One less thing to do on a busy day....cook a big meal. Yes, my granny had a wringer washer. She built a little room onto her house/back porch, and kept her wringer washer in there. On wash day, she rolled it onto her little covered back porch to do her laundry. Then, just a short walk off the porch to the clothesline. Thank you, Robin, for your great soup/laundry day idea, AND for sparking so many wonderful laundry day memories from long ago. 😊
There was no dinner service on Sunday night in the dorms when I was in college. My roommate always made a big pot of white beans with smoked knuckle and the whole wing ate well (and chipped in). It was great with a bit of vinegar and red pepper flakes.
No, my mom never used a wringer washer to my knowledge, but my grandmother told me she remembered her mother making homemade laundry soap. I have a wringer, and I find it handy for running clothes I have hand washed or soaked through. It was very nice to use when my basement flooded.
This soup looks delicious! It has so many yummy ingredients. It would be good to freeze a portion or two for a later date when you don't feel like cooking or not feeling well. Thanks for sharing!
Love your bean soup! 🥣 Growing up, my mother made it simple. Just pinto beans, shredded beef butter, salt and pepper. With a side of corn bread during the winter. Boy do I miss my mom ❤
Looks so good!!! I made minestrone soup today because it's cooler here in Kansas today! Made brownies too!! I make bowl cozies and would love to send one to you for all the good tips you share! Kay
If you decide to get one, would love to send you a couple. They are so handy for hot soup and cold ice cream if you don't want to eat at the table! Always look forward to your videos! Take care! Kay
Hi Robin! What a yummy-looking soup - I could practically taste it! I'm sure it would hit the spot on a cold day! Thanks for sharing another money-saving recipe! Take care, and see you Wednesday!💗
Looks so yummy! My Grammy and I would make that soup after Christmas with the left-over ham oh my goodness so delicious!!! Make some corn bread with honey butter oh man great meal and the left over the next day even better. I miss all the things my Grammy and I would do I miss her so much. Haha yes, my Grammy had a ringer washer when they lived in Nebraska, she would tell me the stories of wash day and how much work it was she was so happy and felt so blessed to be able to get a top loader washer when she and my Grampy moved to CO. I hope you enjoy your wonderful soup this week : )
Yes. My mother used a wringer washer and I helped from an early age. Later in life my neighbors still had and used one, till I offered to bring the laundry home and use my ‘new fangled’ automatic machine. But always line dried clothes. Don’t own a dryer. 👵🏻
Hi Robin, my mom didn't have a wringer washer but my best friend's mom did and my best friend had to do the laundry before she could go out and play and guess who helped 🖐🏾🖐🏾🖐🏾
My mother-in-law used a wringer washer. She was offered a washer and dryer and she turned it down. She loved washing on that wringer washer and hanging her clothes on the line. I helped her many times.
No my Mom did not use a ringer washer but my Grandma did. When my Uncle😢😮 bought my Grandma an automatic washer she was afraid it would not get her clothes clean. Then he had to convince her to get a dryer.
Hi Robin! I was wondering if you had a recipe for carmel icing. My mom used to make a salad dressing cake with carmel icing. I found the salad dressing cake recipe with among my grandma’s recipes but I don’t know how to make the carmel icing.

As a new subscriber, I'm enjoying your videos. Our situations are similar. Wonder how big is your freezer? I had one when my kids were growing up but now only have a bottom one on the refrig so find it limits my storage .

Really like your video, hopefully young generations watch and learn how to cook at home. Better than restaurant.
I appreciate that! Thank you!
I had a wringer too when my children were young! I had the most white diapers in the town! 😊
Your soup looks scrumptious! ❤
Thank you!

How wonderful Betsy! I love vinegar in my bean soup.

I used my grandma's washer after she passed away. Was so thankful for it. (But it's nice to be able to use automatic now 😊)
Congratulations on making it to 30K. The soup looks wonderful. I'm checking my Aldi for that mix.
Thanks so much Janet!

I have been sautéing my veggies in water or broth for years. With the high price of oil these days it really helps the budget!
Great tip!

What a lovely memory Tracey! You are blessed. Your grandparents must have been wonderful.
I moved into a farmhouse with friends around 1986 and used the wringer washer down stairs in the basement, it was fun.
The soup looks delicious!
Thank you!
Oh Robin, of course we're excited! 🎉
❤❤

For me some ham in there would be perfect for me

Sadly, it's beans - and beans give me excruciating migraines.
What is up w/ the wooden spoons to eat soup? Just about every person on RUclips uses spoons like this. Looks very awkward to me over a regular spoon.
My daughter brought me the spoon as part of a set when they were in Japan. I enjoy using it.
As a new subscriber, I'm enjoying your videos. Our situations are similar. Wonder how big is your freezer? I had one when my kids were growing up but now only have a bottom one on the refrig so find it limits my storage .
Thank you and welcome! I’m not sure of the cubic ft. I call it a half size freezer. Which is plenty of space for what I need.
