@@potatonado3023 there were so many produced in such a short time that parts weren't polished much. I've heard of people using sandpaper to make the action smoother which is safe as long as you don't fuck with the locking surfaces

There are reasons for this. While obviously the 20 round mag would make the M1 more effective in the short run, those mags are too heavy to carry a similar amount of ready-to-use ammunition. Or, for that matter, for enough magazines to be produced.

Im starting to understand why people get rim lock with the way you single load. Youve obviously mastered how to load it properly but its interesting seeing you push the rounds in and back. something alot of people should take note of. Ive had my 68 finn mosin for 3 years and taken it to the range once and was getting that problem.
Yep, when you push it in and back it keeps the topmost round's rim in front of the one underneath it, so when the bolt is pushed forward there's no chance of it hanging up. If you just push it in normally, you run the risk of having that topmost round behind the one underneath, so the rim will stop it from moving forward with the bolt
The most satisfying thing about single loading Arisakas: having enough ammo for the things to fill the magazine.
I cry a little every time I shoot mine since ammo is scarce for it. I also charge anyone who wants to shoot it $2.50 per round haha

I find the Swiss guns have the most delicious reloading sound, followed by India then the French. Maybe its their box magazine designs.

I saw this video when ammo prices were really high and my first reaction was is that is that real ammo.
If there is one thing I learned, it’s that the Swiss love straight pull bolt actions.
I have a mosin and can confirm that mosins will almost always want to jam when using the bolt
Every time the bolt got stuck on the mosin reinforced how I feel about mine.
What’s the reason for that cause I deal with the same thing
