I have to agree with another comment that TP is a comfort item I won't do without. Another for me is flossers, the little plastic teeth cleaning units. Not essential, but I won't do without. My Darn Tough merino wool socks.....have to have them. Have to have my hammock....I won't sleep on the ground.......and pillow. Thanks for sharing. I came here some time ago on a tip from Corporal Kelly. Love your channel.

Never done camping yet age 57, but just bought some basic survival-camping gear I suppose staying 'normal' and occupied really helps well I put in some tea powder milk brown sugar mars bar and instant soup pouches in my backpack for 'protection' axe and bear spray

Great video... My "survival" comfort/morale items either stationary or moving consist of a couple high quality disposable razors & shaving cream (my beard is a brass bore brush). I need my coffee, so I discovered Folgers Coffee Singles (like tea bags for coffee) in individual foil packets. I can (and do) have them everywhere in my kit. I also have a small container of powdered Tang - tastes good w/vitamin C. An Esbit stove to heat my GI canteen cup(s) if I don't need/can't have a fire. Baby/antiseptic wipes. Toothbrush/paste. One purchase I plan on making once I research the best affordable one is a Solar panel charger/power bank. The few electronics I would take as survival items (Icom two way VHF radio[s]) can operate off "AA" cell batteries. Flashlights can use AAs, and SW receiver. And of course this Android/MP3. I would have several packs of AA batteries, but they don't last forever. Solar charger power bank can charge/power almost anything with mini USB. And several replacement cables. All of those items I listed (I didn't have a solar panel) I used to very good effect in the
Seven (7) weeks without electricity following Hurricane Katrina. I wouldn't have died without those, but they sure kept me going ! Here / sub'd from Corporal's Corner

These are great items! It got me thinking, mine are the same items functionally, just different products. I use the GSI insulated coffee mug with the ultralight pour over coffee filter (paired with a #2 coffee filter for longer exposure to the water and easier clean up). I use a 750mL Evernew pasta pot and got a Trail Designs Fusion Cone that acts as wind screen for the included alcohol stove and convers to a twig stove. I use a Katadyn BeFree water filter. And my biggest luxury is a 9oz pillow, the Nemo Fillo. It has memory foam and a microcloth top. In a hammock it really doesn't need much air. I sleep on the ground more, and it is a game changer for sore necks! Thank you for the great videos and being one of the best instructors in the game.

I read or heard tha Grayl filters clog and get so hard to push down that you can literally stand on it to try and get it to go down. Im thinking thats not true now?

I like that shirt. Do guy mind telling me who makes it? My AO is the Texas Gulf Coast, so it's also often hot and humid. I see that you wear an under shirt even when it's 100F. Is it all cotton, or something else?

Is that real cross-stitch embroidery or just a piece that you bought from a shop? Its PRETTY!

My comfort items aren’t much different from yours...... I have the Grayl ultralight. My stove is the solo stove lite with its pot and GSI coffee press with a cup that nest in it and the Outdoor Vitals pillow. But I’ve been eyeing up your coffee press for awhile now. How long does it keep your coffee hot??

It seems to keep it reasonably warm for at least a couple of hours. I honestly never let it stay full for too long :) My coffee always seems to give out soon lol. I have been using this one for close to a year now and I still enjoy it after many trips afield. Thank you for taking the time to tune in Ginger!

Very true Josh. I take clothing very seriously and would "almost" call extra clothes a necessity depending on environment and season. It is something I always have on hand. Thank you for tuning in buddy!

These are the Fjallraven Vidda Pro Trousers. I really enjoy mine and have 2 pairs. They have been worn hard and held up well. I have them listed in the clothing section of my Amazon lists if you would like to see different colors and size/specs. Link in the description box. Thank you so much for your time and interest!

How is a coffee press NOT essential?😉

  • @bombproofbushcraft

Comfort? What kind of silliness are you speaking. If we wanted comfort we’d sleep in our nice warm bed snuggling our body pillow and dreaming sweet sweet dreams as the AC kept us cool. Nope, we want to sleep with that stump poking our back, wondering what critter is going to crawl in bed with us and having insects fly into our ears. LOL
Just kidding. We wanna smooooooooth it! Great gear choices MATT. Thanks for sharing. It’s amazing how a few little items can make things so much nicer and easier in the field. Take care!
