I think something like this would be more realistic: In the first stages perhaps steam or smoke coming from the engine. As damage increases then perhaps have coolant hoses bursting and more steam coming out. After that, excess exhaust smoke and engine knocking noises before ultimately, bang, puff of black smoke from engine & exhaust = the end :D

If you read the description they ask for 'honest feedback', and I figure since the realism, physics and general attention to detail in this game is pretty damn amazing, why not apply it to engine damage? In my experience the only time you're likely to get fire coming from an engine and have it continue to run is if an engine, typically carbureted, backfires.
SUGGESTION FOR UPDATE -Onboard camera view (cockpit view), -free control view, -wildlife -bumper view, -rain, -storm, -dynamic brake, -direction of the wheel reset to forward when you release the key. (more easy to drive) -GPS or map visible when you drive, -more complex vegetation, -damage more realistic (less damage), -light spot with free control to check the surround environment, -HID light (xenon), -possibilty to call rescue on place or reset (single player), -Save as.... on different map. -opportunity to break larger tree -warning song when you back up -Horn
what they need is a oil trail under it and a rattle and clatter sound that with that flame and sparks will go down well, it will look and sound real than so add oil trail and rattle and clatter( the sounds of a blowen conrod and the oil trail as if the oil is going thru a hole in the engine block)
Looks unrealistic to me. I'd remove fire/explosion effects, but definitely would add more smoke - note that engine overheats when it's about to give up. Additionally, diesel engines usually have turbo which burns engine oil when it's about to damage itself, and that's producing a lot of smoke. You can see that process happening on several youtube vids, easy to find. Greetings from PL, can't wait till Friday!
It looks really good but i think it's a little unrealistic to have fire it's pretty rare that it happens. I think if you kept driving with 80% damage or more for a long period of time and eventually it caught fire would be more realistic :)
To much fire, to be honest i don't like the fire bursts on/around the grill seems unrealistic.. i could see it maybe if there was the odd one coming out the exhaust as unburnt fuel/oil coming out maybe?
maybe a bit more detailed that "fire" stuff doesnt look so nice in my opinion but the smoke is not bad, like an oil or water leak that is right beside the exhaust or some hot parts ^^, but really i would only get a bit fiery when the engine completely dies, but since then nie effects i cant wait for Friday^^
too much fire when you engine is still running, but the smoke is quite good already. Like others already said, some nice sound effects would be nice. :)
Smoke looks good. Don't care for the fire. I think it would be realistic to have more black smoke, then blue and white smoke as the engine starts to fail. (Fuel problems, followed by oil and water entering the cylinders as rings/gaskets fail.) Followed by a complete stop. If my engine caught fire like in the vid, I'd be bailing out, and it would be the end of the line for that engine; if not the whole truck!
Единственное,что в это игре очень не нравится,так это бредовая система повреждений и еще наличие ХП у техники... Надеюсь разработчики доведут игру до ума!
DeLorean DMC чувак))) ты видимо слабенько в ДВС соображаешь ))) по сути искры бывают только от электрического тока, а если паук снять кроме громкого звука ничего не будет... Ну а если мотор поношенный и клапана не плотно прилегают то будут небольшие хлопки и не более... Зы: двиг здесь дизельный поэтому ни хлопков, ни искр быть не может)))

Владимир Васильев Это видно на тепловозах, потому что там по сути выпуска нету, тупо труба. На автомобилях этого не увидеть, Так как есть нейтрализатор и пред. глушитель. Нужно в этих условиях тупо сделать прямоток, оторвать нахрен коллектор. И будет так как ты увидел на тепловозах, и это все в под капотном пространстве... Нету разницы дизель, бензин, отработавшие газы по своим физ. свойствам идентичны... Главное куда они попадают после выпускного клапана, тупо сразу в атмосферу или в выпускную систему.

The effects are more than likely for 'visual effect' to show you "hey, stupid, your engine will die soon".

(Fuel problems, followed by oil and water entering the cylinders as rings/gaskets fail.) Followed by a complete stop. If my engine caught fire like in the vid, I'd be bailing out, and it would be the end of the line for that engine; if not the whole truck!
