Ngl those Mystery Boxes were usually a bit of a waste of time. I'm not upset about them being gone and I can see why it got removed especially when there was an update that speeds up bloodwebs anyway.

Mystery boxes were a cool concept in my opinion, they just needed to speed up the opening process (kinda like how they did with event mystery boxes) and i think they would've been fine
About the Haddonfield update:
Development of NOES Chapter was insanely rocky and a lot of assets used for Springwood were copied from Haddonfield.
So what would happen if you change those assets for Springwood's visual update? Haddonfield would've also been affected by it due to that weird connection between 2 Realms.
I hope this would explain the visual update of it during 4.2.0 PTB.
Ooooh that makes so much sense now, and it also explains why the house of pain and the 2 story building were almost a direct copy of the ones in Haddonfield, thanks for the explanation!
Your Adam's bloodweb was working as intended. Once you roll a bloodweb, the items you get from it are concrete. So whatever time period or event you stop leveling a character on, if there are nodes left on that bloodweb they can still contain those event or time period items unless those items are COMPLETELY removed from the game / game's code, which they weren't. It only applies to the bloodweb that was already rolled during that time period, though. Once you flip over a new level, it's in line with current patch.
One of my friends had played dbd back during a free weekend when the old brown map offerings were a thing, didn't end up getting the game until around 2020/2021 or so, went to their Meg and she had brown map offerings in her bloodweb from leveling during the free weekend back when they still existed lol.
5:04 I kind of like that structure that spawned on the hill. I wish they brought it back.
Yeah I wish they brought it back too, it added uniqueness to the hill tile which otherwise is pretty much the same on every map
I had 7th year anniversary mystery boxes in my blood web for other characters once the event ended they turned into the Halloween design and still gave me a 7 year item

@@sashko8448 probably because they retired the mystery box, so they set it to the next skin it will reappear as.

Another thing about the mystery boxes, they had a chance to give a higher rarity item, technically giving you a discount. And another thing with that event bug, it's intended, because when events end the icon of the mystery box just changes back to the original, that's still in the files, even though they don't spawn anymore. It will also still give whatever event item it was before, because bloodwebs don't reset after events.
That's a really good explanation, I was thinking of the same thing, though some people in the comments shared that their event mystery boxes have been turning into halloween treats for some reason, I guess the game thinks that's the default texture for whatever reason

You forgot the fact that back in the early days we can get oferings to play dlcs killers for free but without any addon or perk, or the Overpowered Legion in the ptb release, or when you are able to refill the exaustion effect while running, so you can have multiple sprint burst if the chase was long enough. Killers had a really bad that in that era xd

RIP Hawkins...a map I was fine with, even if it was pretty bad.

Well, if there was overall a better balance to maps loosing Hawkins would not feel that bad. But now that we have Midwich and Eerie of Crows which wildly swing the odds of winning to one team or the other and whatever the fuck Shattered Square was supposed to be, Hawkins would 100% not even be in top 5 worst maps and it had very unique aspects to it unlike some of the more generic maps
Hawkins was one of the most unique maps to have existed in DBD, there were also some very interactive mindgames with window vaults, it's kind of a shame that it's gone, even if it wasn't really well designed

They probably removed Mystery boxes because they played an animation that would slow progression or something, with everything costing less on the bloodweb now, i can’t say i miss them

That's a really good idea actually, there are many interesting things with this bug that I wasn't able to cover in this video, so I'll definitely do another one about that in the future, thanks for the suggestion!

I do wish that mystery boxes were still in the game honestly but funny thing that happened sorta related to the mystery box things? my friend actually got a bug recently where he got a halloween mystery box during the bbq event.
I think they've changed the default mystery box texture to the halloween treat (for whatever reason), that's my only guess

Before the game's release while it was still in beta you were able to switch really fast from trapper to a survivor and it would keep the killer music along with the breathing sound. I also remember there were a few times I would get stunned with a pallet and I would fall through the map and then just teleport back to the center. These were prerelease bugs though and I never saw them after release but the beta was a lot of fun and I wish I could go back and play that build again.

If you ever make another one: back in blights ptb he used to throw his syringe instead of dropping it and if i recall correctly it left a small puddle of the serum where it hit

The mystery box thing happened to me too but with an anniversary box. When I clicked it it gave me a Halloween event item though, maybe because the Anniversary and the Summer BBQ were both already over.

The mystery box removal makes me sad, ya know for the most part they gave you better stuff for cheaper. You could open a Yellow and get a Green, like if the whole point was the reduce the grind why remove something that gave discounts??
I think the powers item were because devs planned to have an ability to kill the killer as a secret ending of a match... and because their code is a mess

Unpopular opinion but I think the new haddonfield is awful, not bc of the loops, it’s bc the houses and roads and some cars are too big, the houses look too big and it’s horrendous for me
Yeah I personally prefer dbd's maps before the realm beyond update, the new ones just don't have the same charm that the old maps used to
Mystery boxes were fun. I would rather they have buffed the bp offerings (except the envelopes, BPS, & puddings) because 50% more BP from one category is literally nothing.
I don't even know why there are so many bp offerings in the first place, they just clutter your inventory

I only started playing recently, I didn't know there were boxes other than event related
There is actually a ton of removed content in dbd; for example in 2016 there were almost twice as many offerings as there are today; ranging from splinters (which allowed you to play killers you didn't own) to moonlight bouquets (which could change the lighting in the trial to be either incredibly dark or incredibly bright)

I forgot all about the Mystery Boxes 😂
Back in beta, there were rumors of a glitch or players hacking, the trapper being the first playable killer could gain access to hillbilly’s chainsaw even though it was never added yet for the public, and the max level back then was 5.
Even more odd was back in old dbd after full release, servers could merge into 1 big server. This means you could have 10 survivors or more but 1 killer, this also changed how many generators there were, like 6 or 9.
Wow, I didn't even know about that bug with the servers merging into one, do you know where I could find footage of that?

The first one bloodweeb I remeber was on halloween 2017 (when I launched the game for the first time)
Items the closest to the center was always the same price doesn't matter of the value of item and the furthert ones was most expensive and leveling was soooooo much slow also u had to "accept" new item before buying new one 💀💀real pain in ass not gonna lie
