      That was a steam propulsion system, so it used fuel oil, not diesel. Probably it was over a thousand feet long, I'll Google it later, and outweighed the yacht by quite a bit.
      I just remembered. One of my cousins was on it back in the 60s or 70s. I can't remember now which one but sadly they are all dead.

    That’s a helluva lot of “Gree Shield Stamps” just for filling up - wonder if they qualify for a discount for the provisions as well?
    It looks as if the “Rev Ocean” has way more flight deck space than our “Grey Funnel Line” aka the British Royal Navy, for all you landlubbers out there! Can’t help but wonder where the Bootnecks will store their “toys” such as the armoured RIBS, mini-subs (for the Shakey contingent, which we can’t confirm or deny their presence or existence, of course), the deco-chamber, not even any room for LDS style drop-down stern for some little landing craft (or a few Klepper canoes) and all the other stuff that makes for an interesting life! I might be retired but it’s nice to dream.

      Very interesting question.

    • @danb2529
      @danb2529 Год назад

      Far as I can tell if it's stateless, and in international waters, then it does not have the protection of any state. So, yes, in your example the US could probably board it to carry out their 'investigations'. If a stateless ship is in the national waters of another state (UAE in this case?), then that country 'probably' has the right to board it. It's basically like a person without a passport and is a bit of a legal black hole that they drop into, but not exactly a safe way of avoiding international law, the vessel is simply without protection provided by the flag state. Further as the freedom to navigate the high seas belongs to states, and not individuals, there is a case to be made that such vessels lose the right to navigate international waters.

    Hello Mr. E Question about "Design. Style and Function." When I look at Super Yacht "A" ... well I don't like it. Looks like a floating 3 story enclosed condo, unlike other yacht, that have large open tier level decks, utilizing a lot more of the available space. I'm sure there's a reason the owner loves it. I'd like to know what you think about it's "Design. Style and Function." Is there any Yachts that jump out at you as beautiful and others that just seem a few shades to ugly? 🤔

      I totally agree, the buyer's taste is in his ass. All the money in the world and he has built something that resembles a submarine. Absolutely horrible looking boat.

    If you had a billion dollars, you could fill up that 1 million liter tank over 450 times excluding the upkeep and crew. Wow!

    Current diesel price in Turkey is about $1.20 pre litre. If he put in a million litres it could have cost $1.2m asssuming he paid the forecourt price. I would guess he gets a substantial discount.

    More great addictive content. 👏. The world is full of contradictions, super yachts burning millions (probably billions collectively) of litres of fuel is OK but we ban plastic straws? I'm not an eco worrier, just amused by the contradiction. Keep up the good work. 👍

    I'm paying less that 22 Turkish Lira for a liter of diesel here in Turkey now - curious why the bunker fuel costs almost 2X as much, you would think they would get a discount for that amount....

    to put into perspective how large of a fuel tank 1million litres is, that is a tank 1m tall, 10m wide and 100m long. so pretty much an entire deck of that yacht knee deep in fuel.

      I have a 1 million litre cylindrical vertical tank and it is 60ft across by 12 ft high approximately. 18.3X3.66 metres.

    Wouldn't Eclipse have to be classed as an oil tanker???
