Matangi gets a bit too much hate, IMO. True, Disney really shouldn't have mareted her as a villain, but other than that, She has a great design, her powers are fun, her song is pretty catchy, and I'm interested in seeing where this Megura and Hades-like deal she has with Nalo goes in the next movie.
That’s the part that got me very skeptical. I wasn’t sure if Matangi could be trusted or not since her kind aren’t exactly… how do I say it? Welcoming. However, given the fact that she was actually genuine with her and helped her out, I was like, “Alright, I guess you’re cool.” Plus, like you said, her song was very catchy. Quite the jam.
I think the attachment to Maui in this movie is very reliant on how much we learned about his character and how attached we got to him in the first film. It makes sense woth a sequel.
The Moanabes were voiced by the rocks daughters.
Saw this one in theaters 2 days ago. Loved it
