I'm not a Christian, I'm not a believer of any religion yet I can still admit that this song is fantastic. You don't have to read salvation as being from God, you can read it as whatever you want. That's the beautiful thing about songs, they can be interpreted depending on the mood you are in.
I love how whenever I come onto a Skillet lyric video there's a lot of religious comments...I'm personally not a Christian and it's honestly really easy to interpret this song as being about a good friend or romantic partner.

We need to speak, teach, and demonstrate what God says. worship is a great tool to help with this goal, but it's no substitute.
