This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.
originally I was just looking for a review that proved to my mother it has a carafe, because we already bought the machine, we just had yet to open it, and she wanted to make sure it could make a "pot" before she did. but I actually found this quite interesting I love coffee quite a lot, but never really knew how to get information on it. this channel seems a fit for me. you have a new subscriber.
Thanks for this review. You sold me based mostly on the fact that you are a true espresso drinker and you rather enjoyed the espresso like results of this unit. Just what I'm looking for.
I just purchased the Ninja Coffee Bar on impulse. I came home and found you video review. Haven't even unpacked it yet. Found your review remarkable. Hope it is as good as it sounds. Certainly can't beat the price.
Thanks +Coffee Detective! I think I'll consider this. We used to use a regular auto drip pot but it was too big for the two of us so I bought a small one that makes only two cups. On the rare occasion we need to make more than two cups, we have to just run it twice (kind of a pain). But I also enjoy using my Bialetti from time to time so with this, we can make separate single cups, larger pot if we have guests, and my occasional cappuccino. Also in summer I think I would enjoy the cold coffee drink. Good job! BTW - I have used a Bonjour frother for years. I always pumped the cold milk first, remove the pump then microwave for exactly 30 seconds at which point it foams up right to the top.
great review! I've been look looking for a combination espresso and drip maker for a Christmas present for my husband without having to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars so I was really interested in how this particular product would review. I'm impressed with everything that this machine does and definitely going to purchase this for a Christmas gift. Thank you for your review!
How much coffee did you have in the basket? My wife and I drink mostly Espresso in the morning and really need the caffeine. How would you compare the level of Caffeine to true espresso? Thank you for the review it covered all the high points.
I found a brand new one with the metal carafe at the Good Will for only $16! It had everything including the frother, but not the cook book. ILOVE it! They still sell this model at the Mart stores for $130-$140. I'm very happy with it :-P
Nice review. I would like to see a teardown of the Ninja to see if it really in fact has a sensor to tell you when to clean, or if it has as I suspect no sensor, but cleaning is based on amount of "cups or carafes" brewed. I use RO water with virtually no TDS in the water and the cleaning light will still come on.
Another tip: If you use the single cup size on Specialty setting its stronger. If you use Travel size on Speciality its not as strong. The specialty setting makes a concentrated brew - on this setting the Travel size will not brew 14 ounces so don't worry about that.
Terrific review, thank you so much for taking the time to do this, it answers all my concerns, I too like a strong coffee, I love espresso, but I feel confident this can handle that need and more. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video. I think Ninja has done a good job with this coffee maker but coming from a household that does a cup a day of regular coffee I see one thing missing that would make me switch coffee makers. If they could incorporate the coffee grinds in a similar way they did the water dispenser then I think that would be ideal. In other words if I could fill up a grind reservoir that would dispense grinds based on my coffee size and strength where i only had to fill new grinds and new water when the reservoirs were empty I think would be more ideal.
I had a coffee machine like that. The grinder broke after a couple months. Also, it had to be brushed clean so the chute did not clog. It was almost not worth the extra effort so I didn't mind when it stopped working. I now have a $50 grinder and a glass jar with rubber seal. grind a little every 2-3 days, etc. I find this convenient and the burr-style grinder (not lawn-mower blade) really does make for finer grounds and noticeably better tasting coffee.
thanks for review. I've been making a while bunch of coffee drinks. also ice coffee. but i make ice cubes that are half coffee and half water mixture so I never get any watery taste.
Good review ,but did I miss something ?how much coffee did you put in spoon?mine should arrive in a couple of day .....if I only drink black coffee, then in what setting ?
I've bought the Ninja coffeebar, but what I've noticed this morning when I made my coffee is that it over felled the mug. I've selected the one cup selection, put the right amount of coffee, selected the classic brew, and when it start brewing. I left to have my breakfast and when I've turned I've realised that it hadn't stopped. My mug had been over full, into the point it dripping. I must admit I didn't use the mug it came with it, I've put my own mug. I don't know if that makes any difference to the product.
argonautuk the cup it brews is 10 ounces. There is no way to change that setting and unfortunately most mugs aren't big enough to fit 10 ounces. Sorry you had to learn the hard way!
I've been debating buying this coffee maker ever since I first saw the commercial. I absolutely love coffee and espresso drinks, I drink about 6 cups a day and also frequent my local coffee shop for latte's and frappe's whenever I am nearby (expensive-YES!). I need a new maker for the new year! (My KitchenAide machine is old and annoying lol). **I can't stand the way the coffee from the POD coffee machines taste yet I often want just one cup in the afternoon. **I love the idea of taking the water reservoir off to fill it as I spill every single time I try to fill my present machine. **In the summer I adore iced coffee but it always gets week with the ice. I've even tried making coffee ice cubes but I usually make a coffee mess in my freezer. :( . My question Coffee Detective is about the "espresso-style" drinks. For cold Frappe's I assume I have to use a blender and purchase the flavorings, syrups, etc. and the same with hot flavored latte's (as far as purchasing flavors etc.) THANKS FOR THE REVIEW. I really want to buy it but ugh..just not sure!!
+Patty Harrison yeah, but you could likely buy one flavor at a time for around the price of one drink of that flavor. I'm bummed that I got gifted a Keurig just before I was going to buy this one.
also if u worry about watery ice coffee make a tray of half water half coffee ice cubes plus the cold coffee. as ice cubes melt I will never get that water down thing
We've had ours for over a year. It's starting to get really wet under the pot each time. We just leave a paper towel there now.. I wish this thing would stop begging to be cleaned! I can scrub it, run vinegar through it on the clean setting. Then water through 5 times.. it still begs to be cleaned. If you ignore the "clean" on the msg bar, it stops making coffee.
No. Remember... as I say in the video... this is ultimately a drip brewer that can be set to brew a rich brew that approximates espresso. So you use regular ground coffee, even with the espresso drink setting.
Nicole Sewell I was lucky, I found mine on the Facebook market place locally. I didn't get the frother tho. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
Did you notice you uploaded this video on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11? Great Review, I have been drinking coffee for about 20 Years now and I have made a Caramel macchiato and a Cappuccino , To be honest, both drinks came out pretty Amazing. So star bucks and my Local Italian Coffee Shop will be getting a time out :o) Can't wait to try the ice coffee recipe and other Flavored Coffee's as well. So far so good with the Ninja Coffee Bar 👍
+EL EVO how it 2015 the 10th anniversary of something that happened in 2001? take an online math course, it should be free considering you mainly need to learn addition and subtraction.
I bought this coffee maker a month ago and tho it works pretty good, the coffee cup sizes are way off. When I brew a half a carafe, I get a quarter carafe amount. When I brew a full carafe, I get a half full carafe. And when I brew a travel mug size, I get a regular cup size. When I brew a cup size, I get a half a cup. So, when I brew, I have to brew twice to get the correct amount. Very annoying. I wish I knew if I could reset the water levels for the maker.
Are you using the rich brew setting??? Classic brew is supposed to fill it and the rich brew is supposed to be less... That's what I read last night when I was setting it up anyway. Plan on making my first cup in a few minutes haha
You may need to find a coarser grind, when I used finely ground coffee you will end up with less coffee as the finer grind will soak up all of the water like a sponge. Also use the classic brew selection if you want a full carafe. In the manual it shows brewing a cup on classic will get you approximately 9.5 oz., using the Rich brew you will get 8.8 oz., over ice 3.7 oz., and specialty 3.1 oz. So it only makes sense that if you are using anything other than classic you will get less coffee.
True it does make a rich cup of coffee, and lot's of fancy beverages. The reason I would have to rate it so low and most important is that if you like your coffee hot ... forget it. The best you can achieve is a warm cup of coffee as a single cup or using the thermos. As soon as you add any type of creamer you have to microwave your coffee to heat it up. Not that great on cold days. There is no heating element unfortunately. Spouse actually drinks tea in the morning now, for this reason. If coffee is important to you, look elsewhere.
I purchased this item 4 months ago. The clean light will not go off even thought I did the full 4 hour clean after the regular clean. What's up with that?
Really want to know more about how much coffee, what kind was used, what level of grind it was used in, what grinder it was used in. All these factors affect coffee. Not going to do me a bit of good to rush out and buy this, if it still requires some level of grind I'm not capable of getting with my Baratza Encore. Which was the whole reason I stopped doing my own coffee to begin with. I like coffee but I'm terrible at it myself.
I love it, the only thing I would suggested to them is that we should be able to press the warmer after 2 hours, after 2 hours, that's it, it wont continue to warm the coffee.
I returned mine. coffee not hot enough, clean up is somewhat of a mess, Dripper drips after closed and left overnight to dry. I would come back in the morning and found My Carafe Dirty with coffee drips on it. It did make a good cup of Cappuccino and Specialty Brew worked nicely. Also alot of condensation build up after your remove the Filter tray, and that needed to be wiped clean as well, if not you would wind up with a stained and dirty Carafe or Hot Plate :o/ I will wait for a better version of the Ninja Coffee Bar and one that makes hotter Coffee and Made with better high end components.
imgone Maybe i got a bad one? But everyone i know complains that coffee isn't hot enough, it's a big issue for Ninja Coffee Bar, I can't beleive no one in your family has any issues with Coffee not being hot enough?
I do miss my Coffee Bar, Wish it didnt have all the above issues. Warm Coffee isn't a good cup of coffee :o/ Especially if you live in cold places. The specialty brew was especially and issue with not being hot enough, Imagine, i even heated up my milk and Coffee still wasn't hot enough, it was as if the Coffee it self Cooled down my Heated Milk, that's how luke warm my coffee came out. And the nerve of them telling me to send it back for repair, after i purchased it new? I just took it right back to BJ's got my full redfund. I can't lie, I am missing my Ninja Coffee Bar 😢
+EL EVO I will say that I recently bought a ninja coffee bar and I absolutely love it! No problems at all so far and my coffee comes out hot hot! Like you stated, maybe you just got a bad one...?
Thanks so much for the review! Great detail. I wasn't a coffee drinker until a year ago, and still don't think I REALLY like coffee since all I really like is the Carmel Macchiato from Starbucks. Since that gets really expensive, I am attempting to create a cheap substitue at home.... or go broke! So, given that I never need to make a caraffe (sp?) of coffee and would ONLY use the expresso-style feature and the milk frother, it seems silly to buy this. Do you have suggestions for me? I haven't shopped for expresso machines or milk frothers yet, but saw this at Sam's and it looked easy.
+Shelby Henderson This is easier than an espresso machine, especially the milk frothing part. I only use espresso machines for my coffee I never use the milk frothing part on it because it's a pain to use and clean. I will be buying this and use only the espresso option, that's how impressed I am with this machine. I'm sure it would be a perfect investment for you.
I just got one of these yesterday and when trying to use the single cup setting the l light does not eluminate as the other ones do. do I have a defective machine or is that normal?
Can you use coffee pods (not K-cups) in this machine? I want to try the hotel style single pods in a drip machine so I don' t have to measure the coffee in the morning when I'm in a hurry, but can still measure my loose coffee for a carafe on the weekend. I'm replacing a K-cup machine with this one. I like the neatness of the K-cup, but not a lot of options like described with this machine. Thanks.
Excellent review! Thank you! Seems to be fairly simple to use and user friendly. Can you tell us where the Ninja was manufactured, and a little bit more about the quality of the machine itself, i.e. is the silver part made of steel, metal, plastic, and the carafe itself plastic/glass, etc.? Much appreciated. Thanks again!
+mygalmo Made in China, as you might expect. But pretty solid. The structure of the machine is black plastic. The fold-down cup platform is plastic. The silver you see on the filter cone holder and under the water reservoir is brushed steel. The carafe is a nice and heavy glass. So...mostly plastic, but heavy grade. It doesn't have that flimsy feel of low-end brewers.
Coffee Detective Wonderful! Exactly what I was hoping to hear, in terms of the 'heavy grade', brushed steel reservoir, and glass carafe. I had a Braun espresso/cappuccino machine (made in Italy) that lasted me 23 years. The quality of the machine itself was flawless. I have purchased several others, but to my dismay, returned each due to the poor and cheap materials used; which seems to be the norm now days. We get what we pay for though. I am certain there are some great high-end machines, but they're beyond my budget! Have you tried the Aeropress? When my Braun broke, I gave the Aeropress a shot, and was pleasantly surprised that it could produce the perfect shot of espresso - even with the crema. Took it a notch higher and made cappuccinos using my French press to warm some milk; poured it into the French press; gave it a few pumps, and produced the perfect froth. I felt like a genius. Ha! Anyway, thanks again for your prompt and detailed response.
+Michael Anastasio Not espresso at all. More like a coffee concentrate. OK for making a latte-style drink, but I wouldn't drink it solo, as if it were espresso.
Their suggestions for hotter coffee: 1. Don't use a cup straight out of the cupboard - run it under hot water first so it doesn't steal heat from the coffee 2. If you use milk warm it in the microwave first - cold milk steals heat from the coffee 3. Use paper cups for the hottest coffee.
+Sonya CH I agree. That's what I do. But the manual method requires a learning curve while balancing the amount of grounds and water. Until the technique is perfected the results will be hit and miss. Some people like the convenience of following easy instructions and pushing the appropriate buttons. I think this coffee maker is foolproof and provides the user with a more simple process since it controls the amount of grounds, water and brew times to fit the type of drink which normal coffee makers do not do. It's a little pricey for my tastes though...
+Sonya CH You're you can do all these things with most coffee makers, the big difference though is how much coffee you use in the process to get the right type of brew. For example I love strong coffee, for a regular machine I have to use a ton more coffee, which is wasting money. Coffee isn't exactly cheap, especially if you drink it three times a day. This machine brews different ways with different amounts of grounds, therefore I save a lot of money.
Hi. Nice review. Thanks. Are you able to get a full carafe of coffee in regular or rich mode. I am interested in this coffee maker but a lot of the reviews I have seen; people seem to have trouble getting the maker to fill a full carafe. I just wondered if this is user error or a common problem? This is a must for me as I need to fill my thermos for work. Thanks
+4wolverines Hasn't been a problem for me. You need to be sure you're adding enough water to the reservoir. Enough water for the carafe of coffee, plus a little extra for what remains in the wet coffee grounds etc.
+Coffee Detective Thanks for your reply. Your obviously a coffee junkie. Have you figured out what typeof grind you like to put on your beans for this particular unit? Thanks again!
+Aracely Calderon Depends on which model you got. If you got the regular glass carafe, the brewer has an automatic warming plate. If you go the model with the thermal carafe, it's the carafe that keeps the coffee warm, and there is no warming plate.
contact ninja themselves they'll send it in 5 today 7 days w brother recipe book and couple packs of syrup for 159.95 plus tax free shipping even free back if something wrong. if you order directly 5 year VIP warranty.. but comes w glass carafe permanent filter brother and book plus reps w through in syrups as a gift...
+Chris Keller I'm not sure you want to. The model with the stainless steel thermal carafe doesn't have a hotplate. So if you used the regular glass pot your coffee would get cold pretty quickly.

i enjoyed your review. I think this may be a great option, and will look for one this holiday season.

Just ordered one, based on this review, thanks for a great review!
The drip stop is likely so you can do an immersion brew like method.
If you apply the drip stop during the brew cycle, the brew cycle will stop. No immersion will take place.
Did you use the espresso grounds for the review of the ninja coffee bar's espresso drink?
No. Remember... as I say in the video... this is ultimately a drip brewer that can be set to brew a rich brew that approximates espresso. So you use regular ground coffee, even with the espresso drink setting.
picked this up for $35 and i love it.
$35?
Damn
They're on sale right now for $165 down from $195
certified30 I'm about to buy one for $40. I'm getting mine second hand. One home owner and she barely used it.
Haven't seen it that cheap anywhere. Just bought one for $89.99. Amazon refurbished was $64.99

I like coffee but I'm terrible at it myself.
I use folgers half caf. Its a fine grind. Coffee come out strong. The scoop and booklet tells you how much to use. Coarser grind makes less strong.
Do you think this coffee maker is still good for 2020 or you think I should better buy the new one???
Thank you for a great review! Sold! Ordering mine now!
I love it, the only thing I would suggested to them is that we should be able to press the warmer after 2 hours, after 2 hours, that's it, it wont continue to warm the coffee.
+Tina Ramsey Sort of like a "Do you want to continue?" button.
+Box Office Hero Wow, that is a brilliant question! Yes! You are right! Kinda like a Continue? button. Bingo! Are you related to Alfred Einstein>
Great review! Have you tried drinking the espresso-style coffee without the milk? How did it compare to real espresso?
I returned mine. coffee not hot enough, clean up is somewhat of a mess, Dripper drips after closed and left overnight to dry. I would come back in the morning and found My Carafe Dirty with coffee drips on it. It did make a good cup of Cappuccino and Specialty Brew worked nicely. Also alot of condensation build up after your remove the Filter tray, and that needed to be wiped clean as well, if not you would wind up with a stained and dirty Carafe or Hot Plate :o/
I will wait for a better version of the Ninja Coffee Bar and one that makes hotter Coffee and Made with better high end components.
Thanks for letting us know. I am looking for a coffee maker and really fell in love with this one. Has anyone else had this problem?
imgone Maybe i got a bad one?
+spankey0069 That's what i though, but when i did a google search, it was their biggest complaint :o/
I got one last week so far I love it!
Excellent review. Thanks!
nice job.
I pick mine up tomorrow.
you should do s review for ice coffee.
thanks
This is the best review I've seen for this👌🏼
Thanks!
Do you turn off the knob when you finish brewing a full pot? TIA
Does it come with guesimated directions how much coffee for cup, or carafe or mug etc. ?
Any feedback on the cleaning setting, or the overall ease of keeping the machine well maintained?
I just got one of these yesterday and when trying to use the single cup setting the l light does not eluminate as the other ones do. do I have a defective machine or is that normal?
Can you use ground Espresso beans instead of regular coffee in the Specialty Brew setting to make "real" espresso drinks?
+Shondi Muir No, it doesn't make real espresso, and you can't use a fine espresso grind coffee. Ultimately this is a drip brewer.
Thanks.
No
Thank you so much for this review!
I am definitely going to save up and purchase this :)
good video. ways wanted to know how this works!
did i miss the part where you actually add the coffee grounds?
You've sold me on this!!
Love the review, thank you....So I know what to put on my Christmas list lol
Coffee Detective
Wonderful!
After you made that drink do you have to then throw out the grinds or can you make another cup later in the day?
+Cindy Ibarra most likely throw it out, just like a drip coffee maker or espresso maker.
What a great review! Good job!
Thanks for such a detailed video👍🏾
Did you use espresso Brand coffee or grind when you made the cappuccino?
great review
Great review. One question: have you tried the 'espresso-style' coffee by itself? Is it a reasonable substitute for a cup of espresso?
+Michael Anastasio Not espresso at all. More like a coffee concentrate. OK for making a latte-style drink, but I wouldn't drink it solo, as if it were espresso.
Thank you for this. It was much appreciated.
i like the coffee mug..does it come with that mug too?
+TheKaity1965 No, the mug is mine. I can't remember where I got it, I'm afraid. : )
Where'd you get the cool glass mug?
Very Nice Review!!!
Glad you liked it!
Hi. Thanks for the review. Just wondering, did you use espresso coffee grinds or regular coffee grinds?
Great review
Thanks for the review, can you tell me if the coffe is pretty hot, as I like my hot which I find lots of machine do not keep the temperature ?
Their suggestions for hotter coffee:
1. Don't use a cup straight out of the cupboard - run it under hot water first so it doesn't steal heat from the coffee
2. If you use milk warm it in the microwave first - cold milk steals heat from the coffee
3. Use paper cups for the hottest coffee.
Thanks!! That helped out a lot.
This is just a nice coffee maker, as I suspected. You can do all of these things with almost any coffee maker and a frother.
Is this any comparison to a Technivorm?
really good review.
Yeah I didn't see either. looks like a regular plastic base, not a warming plate. :(
+Aracely Calderon Depends on which model you got. If you got the regular glass carafe, the brewer has an automatic warming plate. If you go the model with the thermal carafe, it's the carafe that keeps the coffee warm, and there is no warming plate.
Great review! Thank you for the info and seeing it work. Have not scene it on Amazon yet though? I would love to pick one up.
Target has them on their website you xan also check out the main ninja website and order one.
+Ed Young They have it listed on Amazon.com now, but it seems to be on back order.
+Coffee Detective They also just added them on QVC. By the way, great review!
contact ninja themselves they'll send it in 5 today 7 days w brother recipe book and couple packs of syrup for 159.95 plus tax free shipping even free back if something wrong. if you order directly 5 year VIP warranty.. but comes w glass carafe permanent filter brother and book plus reps w through in syrups as a gift...
meant frother not brother
Thank you thank you thank you
SUPER useful. Thank you :)
good review
Nice review
I have a Ninja Coffee Bar Auto IQ with the stainless carafe. Can I purchase and use the glass pot with this model?
+Chris Keller I'm not sure you want to. The model with the stainless steel thermal carafe doesn't have a hotplate. So if you used the regular glass pot your coffee would get cold pretty quickly.
Thank You. I realized that when I researched it.
do they provide instructions on how many scoops of coffee for each type of drink?
+apuraja Yes, they do.
+Coffee Detective Are the instructions on scoops fairly accurate in your opinion, especially if you like a strong coffee?
Which model number is it? I saw a couple of different model numbers on line. Ty
+Joe Lurwick I looked, but can't find a model number. I'm assuming it was the original model, whichever that was.
Does this product use pods like keireg, or regular coffee or both.
No pods
