Well said!!! Personally, I’m a buy what you love guy. I have to love the pieces I buy or I move on to something I love more. Fortunately I get to deal with Elizabeth and George 👍👍👍
100% Agree with you guys. What you said is what I said would happen in early 2022. Everyone laughed at me. I now stand by your side laughing the other direction and enjoying my watches 😀🙏🏼⌚️💋 Aka - Mr. Valjoux
Great job. Thanks for talking “reality” instead of “hype”. I’m a big Panerai fan, (several from Ryan), and agree with George. Buy what you like, for your enjoyment and smiles. If it appreciates, added benefit, if not, you paid for your personal satisfaction. Happy Holidays to the OSJ Team. 😎⌚️
This team is awesome. I’ve dealt with them three or four times. They are my #1 stop when I’m looking for a piece. I like the flagship store and the satellite at Fashion Square. Everyone is helpful, knowledgeable, and fair.
Nothing new in this video, but George’s take and delivery is a good listen. My only criticism: I would like to hear Elizabeth’s views a little more. She always brings something valuable to the conversation, but I didn’t hear as much from her in this one.
That’s true but the hype was focused on Rolex AP Royal Oak Patek Nautilus Aquanaut. Current production models. Suckers will be suckers. Lots of impulse buys at inflated prices in hopes these watches will make them money. For me…. I won’t pay more than retail. I’m mean $56k for a $7k Rolex OP “Tiffany” dial 3 years ago? C’mon…. $56k at the time could buy you a Patek Annual Calendar or World timer brand new at retail, no waitlist. Which is something that will gain value in 20-40 years.
I have always bought extremely niche collectors pieces and those prices havent really been affected at all. Everyone was expecting the bubble to burst. Tons of hypewatch dealers are in big trouble.
if you want to invest, then you need to be looking at other classes of things. You took no loss as you said. You paid the price for the watch and guess what, you still have a fantastic watch that you appreciate and admire. Thats all there is and you've lost none of that. Great watch, wear it well.
Do you Agree with George that "Watches aren't Appreciating assets, until they are?"
Moral of the story here is: buy what you love and do your research.
George’s realistic criticism of Rolex is very admirable
Great video with lots of good points. Buy what you love and you cannot go wrong. The market goes up and down but the piece remains the same. Enjoy it!
I bought 5 watches from Oliver Smith Jewelrs. Great people, they are very knowledgeable and friendly.
Watches aren’t investments! They are horological masterpieces with art!

One can only enjoy watches if you love what you buy and forget about what it cost.

Did anyone catch their "take on the watch market for 2024"? I don't think I caught it.
1:25 Watches are not appreciating assets until a buyer has offered to buy at a price higher than you have purchased. Done. Period.
