I have a question... does the show start out in his second life or his first? Because I seen a scene that makes me think it does but then goes into the past to explain what happens or something I dunno this show I've just started it and it confuses the hell outta me...

One of my favorite C-dramas with one of my favorite songs by KP, oh this is setting me up for the feels. Instead of matching tattoos, they got matching scars. And the scene with the lyrics, "You had your tattoo removed" was of LWJ inspecting WWX's injury, but he was in MXY's body. Ooooof, my heart.
@@llllll1897 I'm beginning to agree, as I don't think the drama shows a clear body swap. I believe MXY was somehow able to resurrect WWX's old body and soul. It doesn't explain where the scar by his collarbone went, and why the mole under his bottom lip disappeared, but those are small details. Him wearing a mask after resurrection and the fact that every one can recognize him without that mask is evident enough that he's in his old face, at least.

I'm assuming that would mean he was worried they would notice the body swap. Also, WWX doesn't really have many shirtless scenes and the scar was kinda low-ish on his chest so it could still be there in theory... I didn't really notice the missing mole... more of a reason to rewatch it (again) haha

I guess post-canon CQL, there is no possibility of LWJ helping WWX strengthen his core again. Sadness.

I vaguely remember the book mentioned that some cultivators were not strong enough/skilled enough to develop cores.

God this song suits them so well because they brought out the bitter sweetness of it instead of just the regret. How they were given a 2nd chance and fulfil every single line of the chorus, but just like the song goes, "in another life". It was them against the world. Lanzhan did get Weiying to stay, and so he no longer had to say, he was the one that got away. I always thought this song suit them (being one of my top favs ever since it came out), and now with this fmv it gave me another perceptive of it. THANK YOU FOR THIS MASTERPIECE!!

Somehow I think the TV series suggested that WWX and MXY also switched bodies - and that was why WWX had to wear a mask after being brought back.

Lan Zhan had always struggled with self expression, but he knew he loved Wei Ying from earlier on than Wei Ying did, and he had regretted not telling him earlier at least that he didn't hate him, because that caused so many misunderstandings which led to them being driven apart until Wei Ying finally died

Wangxian finally got their happy ending in Wei Ying's second life, but the battles and scars and trauma and hurt that they went through will never truly disappear even if they cultivate into immortals. They had all lost something that will never truly be returned. Lan Zhan lost his trust in his family and sect, and gained scars from the 33 lashes, Wei Ying lost his core(it was replaced by Mo Xuanyu's one but his is a thousand times weaker than what Wei Ying's original one would have been and cultivators dedicate their whole lives and souls to developing their core. Jiang Cheng had wanted to die rather than live as an ordinary man. People committed suicide after Wen Zhuliu destroyed their core, so while he would do it again in a heartbeat, Wei Ying truly lost a huge part of himself that day) and his reputation, he had lost every family he'd had, his parents, the Jiangs, the Wens, and he had thought that he had lost A-Yuan too. And the majority of these deaths he had blamed himself for. Jiang Cheng lost his family and his brother. Nie Huaisang lost his brother, A-Yuan lost his biological family, Wen Ning lost his sister and his clan, and every single one of these people had lost their childhood innocence that they could have had if the world hadn't been so greedy. Xiao Xingchen lost his eyes, his best friend, his innocence, and Xue Yang had also once upon a time been his friend, and he lost him too. Even villains like Xue Yang and Jin Guangyao had been robbed of a happy childhood. Xue Yang had no one to teach him right or wrong, and since no one had shared even the littlest kindness for him, he became insane and vengeful. Jin Guangyao had his mother but he had also seen what the world did to her, and he was cursed with photographic memory, so every insult, every offense, every accusation he would remember.
In the end no one really ended up unscarred, but they'll recover, whether that takes a thousand years, a hundred lifetimes or a million days of making mistakes.
