    Had this on at my local AD,lovely watch retail is £11,250,you would have to be off your rocker to pay £40k on the grey market.

    Considering the unique features of the Richard Mille RM 26-01, acquiring this timepiece involves a different approach than traditional watches. The RM 26-01 boasts a tourbillon movement, making it a rare and exquisite investment in the world of horology. Its limited production and intricate design suggest potential appreciation in value over time.

    Fully agree Eric, could be worth it just at retail price or slightly higher, definitely not at current price. Thanks a lot, we were all badly waiting for such a review. Cheers

    Yachtmaster is a more of a luxurious sports watch and therefore has more fine lines. I think titanium should be used on something like an Explorer and is an awesome material for summer hot days.

      Titanium actually scratches easier than stainless steel, but it forms an oxide layer where it does scratch making it less visible.

    Hey Eric, I went to look at this but found it underwhelming somehow. However, the dealer had the new 'WG' Oysterflex Daytona with a black dial - WOW, it was sublime; so sophisticated with classic/timeless aesthetics. Loved it and want one!

    Congrats on getting your hands on one. Sleeper hit of 2023. I think everyone (at least those with bigger collections) should have 1 Ti watch. I got the Pelagos 39 while I wait for this; that ‘not there’ feel is very cool; also works in dress and sports settings.

    • @j.taveras8447
      @j.taveras8447 6 месяцев назад +1

      Lol, you think it's a sleeper and the market value is in the $40Ks, nothing sleepy about that price.

    • @verynormalman
      @verynormalman 6 месяцев назад

      The Pelagos 39 feels terrible too. Don't buy one. We got the call, as I wanted to buy one for my GF, and we actually laughed, and we both like Tudor. In the end, we got her a P42 blue (pre owned). It's massive on her, but she's stylish and makes it work. Rolex: the clock is ticking!

    I love the YM42's. I sold my SD43 a couple of months ago in anticipation of picking one up. I am a bigger watch kind of guy, just suits my style and height. I find most of the Rolex offerings a little dainty. I tried the DSSD, but realized I'm all good with a large diameter, but a thick watch just doesn't do it for me. If you look, you will see the YM42 and the SD 43 are almost identical specs. The thinner case on the YM42 will probably give it a slightly larger look than the SD43, which works for me. Looking forward to seeing in the metal.
    RRP to RRP comparison, the Ti would be very tempting. At current market prices though, white gold all day long. In fact, even with the RRP differences, I might still opt for the white gold. The glossy black dial is much nicer than the Ti version. I've also been won over to the Oysterflex. I will wait to see if obtaining the watch at retail in Ti is an option.
    As far as the matte case look, I would say Rolex is recognizing the need for a more stealth wealth approach. As the number of places in the world where you can safely wear your Rolex continues to fall, flashy and obvious watches are going to fall out of favor.

    I put my name down at Rolex in Geneva the day it was announced, and got a chance to put it on my wrist in August. I have an 8-inch wrist, and so I love the size. I don't know if I'll ever get an allocation, but I dearly want one - and there's no way I would flip it. It would be put into daily rotation with my Polar Explorer II - also 42mm - also a fantastic daily proposition. I have a Royal Oak 15500, which I adore - but it's too delicate for wearing too often. This, however, is built for wear and tear. Like with the Explorer II, I see the full satin as an advantage, as it will not show scratches.

    My daily and most favourite of my watches is an IWC Ocean 2000. Full titanium is fantastic. I’m very interested to see one of these in person. I particularly like the understated part of it - only watch people really recognise my IWC and I suspect that a titanium Yachtmaster would be similar.

  • @DingsGuy

    4:45 I can feel your apprehension, but I think you’re spot on with the Tudor vibe. Maybe that utilitarian vibe is what Rolex wants to bring to the yacht master line. Yachts are more in line with the Rolex brand and to the wealthy than submarines (especially post OceanGate).

    In my opinion titanium watches should have a little extra "pop" in order to contrast the greyness. I would like to see this watch with a blue dial or gold hour markers. That would elevate the watch from chill to banger territory.

    If you’ve not experienced titanium as a watch material you’re in for a shock with this piece. It’s big and chunky but that low mass is further distributed to nothing over a large footprint on wrist. People tend to buy brands like Tudor for knock about daily watches and go for Rolex for something of an uplift in quality and flash. This is just a big coarsely brushed chunk of dark looking metal which will never take a second look by anybody. But maybe that’s the stealth wealth look they are experimenting with. But such an austere look in the jazzy Yachtmaster line up? Doesn’t fit with that blingy line. Something of a Frankenstein piece hence the fake feels. It’s just out of place. But give us a titanium sub with red lettering and now you’ll be talking.

    Accurate description Eric, Im aucky guy who can pick and choose what he wants from my AD, and I was offered this and the Celebration OP41, both have done nothing to me and for the first time ever,I declined to buy them(could get them both, but I'm not a flipper), as you said it is underwhelming and somehow i don't see the uniqueness in this pic, so I just stay with the Deep Sea Challenge which is historically important on material and serial produced depth-rating, all dough huge but i can still pull it off and wear it in rotation. Now the 1908, its a different story...
