Can you add stuff or would that mess it up, I want to make your version this weekend but I love bacon lol and wanted to add bacon, but only as long as it wouldn't be against the recipe
@@sensualchocolate4928 yes you can ad stuff. I usually put bacon to it, this what Anni makes, is classic recipe. And ofcourse you can season it as you like.
Hey Anni. When I saw this video, I remembered. When I was a kid, and later a student in my mom's house, she used to cook every now and then a great simple dish, which I loved. She was a wonderful cook, and I inherited her recipe book, all hand written, but that recipe was not in there! She just cooked it from memory. I have tried many times to re-create it, but not really successfully. Then, when I watched your video, I thought - this is the closest thing I've seen to it. We are from Dutch descent, so maybe it came from Europe somewhere. Anyway, tonight I used your recipe, and it worked! Almost exactly the same thing! Thank you so much for sharing it. Especially the tip about not cooking the pasta beforehand. Saves some time and effort. Yum, yum, and Kiitos!
I didn’t know what to make for dinner tonight. I’m so tired of the same things. Wanted to try something new. I’ll be making this in a few hours. Thank you so much for the idea!!
This reminds me a lot of the sort of casseroles you'll find in the American midwest - which makes sense, because a lot of Swedes, Finns, and other Scandinavian folks settled there in I think the 1800s.
Awesome video and great recipe. I made this tonight for my wife. We both loved it! What an easy thing and a nice change for us. Thanks for the great videos and cheers on the new place!
@Squirrlerrlr Other things you put in there: valkosipulikermaperunat (garlic-cream-potatoes.) of course, if you don't like garlic, just eat kermaperunat instead. Several dishes that end in "kiusaus" or begin with "uuni".
Made this last night after seeing this video, very tasty and super easy to make, been wanting to try more Finnish things since I've moved here, thank you for sharing it!
Moi Anni, this looks delicious, I will have to try it, especially because eating out at restaurants is still very difficult here in the US thanks to the Covid virus. For fun I added English subtitles to this for you! And submitted them. I hope you do not mind.
WOW!!! Nice Super Magic Television Cooking Show Kitchen!!!!! And a Super Magic Television Cooking Show Dish!!! Way Simple and Done. Super Magic Cooking !!! Wow! this new place is really special, yeah? Thanks Anni and Lauri and Leo !!
Now I'm really hungry lol I'm definitely saving this video and going to try it. Looks like you have an official taste tester in your kitchen he has to make sure your eggs are properly mixed. I like that view at your dining table thanks for sharing Anni :).
I surprised the cat doesn't always perch on top of the wood oven, big flat space, high up to view the entire domain. Leo Is SO CUTE!!!! perched on your shoulders like that.
Cool. Love your cooking shows. Great new kitchen and you guys look so happy and cute at your table eating. Live the spaciousness and clean lines of your new home. Couldn’t be happier for you both.
I had this when I visited Helsinki last year. Made by my friend. He put some vegetables like carrots & peas in it, too. Was super tasty. Thank you for sharing the recipe :)
Kiitos Anni, my mother gave away her Finnish Cook book and couldn’t remember how to make this recepie, so I shared your recipe with her😊 please cook more Finnish foods for us🙏🏼. I can’t wait to make this for my son again♥️ What a lovely large kitchen to cook in😍. Have a wonderful week and look forward to your next video👍🏼 Taina...💕
@Anni - I asked my wife to make macaroni box the night we saw this video and she finally got around to it tonight. These two Canadians are VERY pleased with this traditional dish of yours... we will be making it again and again! Oh, and our 14 year old black and white cat is still walking around safely! 🤣
At first I didn’t notice the cat on your shoulders! I loved putting my cat up there, like a fuzzy purr-y scarf, self-warming too! (Also comes with claws)
5:32, I had a vision of the two of you in the same spots 40 years from now, the Cutest Olde Couple on the Internet, for now, just the Cutest Most Destructive Couple on the Internet !! Bigg Huggs !
I can't believe Lauren ruined your cooking with ketchup! This is a fun cooking video, but mainly I think it is a great glimpse into life in Finland. We Americans hold the Finnish people in high esteem, even though we really know very little about your country. Thank you for this, and have a great day. (I am now very hungry.)
On my only trip outside of Canada (except the US, doesn't count) my wife brought me to Loviisa where she had done student-exchange and everywhere we went there was this macaroni beef! Went to a bar and they had a big pan of it (and some weird preserved fish and onions thing that was sweet?), went to a family party and a big pan of it, went camping and they made a bunch of it there. It's funny because where I grew up "Kraft Dinner and beef" was popular and basically the same thing (but worse). It was good that I liked it and I covered it with ketchup and washed it down with Jaffa! Your videos bring me back to that trip!
Anni, your TV cooking show kitchen is wonderful. I'll be looking forward to seeing many delicious meals and food preparations. LOL... or just have Lauri press them in a squeeze machine LOL good to see you are doing well. Stay safe. :-D
We started making this about 2 months ago. Easy and delicious! All of us are lactose intolerant, so we use oat milk. You can't tell the difference. The kids like bell peppers, so we might start adding them to the meat mixture.
"things you thought were Finnish as hell, then they're Swedish." haha It is good to know us Americans aren't the only ones that struggle to differentiate Swedish and Finnish things.
I came back to see this again, because the first time I did it it came out so GOOD. this time I have different cheeses and spiral macaroni. yeah I know. this is going to be SO GOOD. Kiitos Anni !! and Lauri and leo btw, I just bought a brand new bottle of catsup just like lauri has in his hand.
nice thanks, it is really a fave here in Finland, and my fave too! yumyum, also kaalilaatikko is my fave, tahnks for sharing see you around, a friend here, stay safe
Nice video Anni! Looks good. I'll try it this weekend. I'll trade recipes: Worlds "Best" pot roast - 3 to 4 lb. chuck roast, 1 packet dry Ranch Dressing Mix, 1 packet dry Au Jus gravy mix, 1/4 lb butter, 1 medium onion sliced. Put roast in crock pot first. Add 1 cup water to bottom. Sprinkle seasoning mixes over top of roast along with butter and sliced onions. (Optional: add 6 pepperoncini peppers) Set crock pot on low for 12 hours or until tender. Use pot liquid to make gravy with 1/4 cup flour. Serves 6 starving people or 4 Finns. (If no crock pot, use dutch oven in oven set at 190F for 8-12 hours.) Reheats in microwave well.
It looks delicious we have a similar dish here in America but it comes in a box called hamburger helper and you usually just add ground beef but with all of the sodium it has it’s not very good for us.
Looks delicious! I will be trying your recipe soon. We love Macaroni casserole here in south eastern USA too. We just call it Mac n Cheese. Always at every holiday!
In North America mince meat is a sweet filling for tarts and pies made from raisins and other dried fruit. Meat that has been minced in a meat grinder is called ground beef, ground pork, etc. English is a messy language.
@@delta3dd in the U.K. I've heard "mince" to mean beef that has been put through a grinder. In the U.S. and Canada I don't think many people know this term.
In USA we have a product that is called "Hamburger Helper" that is macaroni and seasoning in a box. Then you add your hamburger with that. It comes in many different styles, almost the same as what you made.
I boil macaronis and use beef cube or vegetable cube for taste. And then don't need to add as much salt with minced beef. But yea, it's a bit overkill like Anni says in the video.
Yes, Americans also make things like this a lot. Either just macaroni and cheese or add meat. Very common! Nice kitchen! Probably a bit of an upgrade from the old house?
Simple but so good food! There is a recipe in description! :)
Paras kokki ja hyvää ruokaa :)
Valkosipuli = white sibul
Helppo nakki = easy wiener

Makaronilaatikko is the best food!! Simple and very delicious! Thanks for making me hungry in the middle of the night 😂😂👍🏼
even if you didn't need two glass dishes, this way you have more crispy top parts in the same amount of food!

In Minnesota, we'd call that a Macaroni Hot Dish!
Why am I not surprised that Lauri douses his meals in ketchup? XD Looks delicious, I'd love to try it sometime.
so the "macaron box" in My Summer Car ISN'T a weird typo? interesting.
Hah, neat
Yea, we usually use name Casserole(Vuoka) only when casserole/bowl is empty. 😅 Box has been eated and only casserole left.
Many of the "tongue-in-cheek" English translations in the game are understood only by Finns.
