There are horrible mothers in the world, sadly. Since I was 6 my mother has been torturing mentally, boycotting my relationships with other people. She always tried to share adult problems with me since I was kid, things that I won't ever do to my son. And it's hard to just turn my back to her. In my opinion, no mentally sane and normal functioning individual commits murder. If you murder someone in cold blood, there is 100% something mentally wrong with you that separates you from the rest of society. The degree of that mental defect should not matter when it comes to your punishment for the crime you committed. Mental illness can certainly be the cause of something, but it is absolutely NOT an excuse nor should it be treated as a “get out of jail free card”. TheIkaika777 This is why the insanity plea should not exist. Several states have gotten rid of it, and I hope the rest of the country will follow. In my opinion, no mentally sane and normal functioning individual commits murder. If you murder someone in cold blood, there is 100% something mentally wrong with you that separates you from the rest of society. The degree of that mental defect should not matter when it comes to your punishment for the crime you committed. Mental illness can certainly be the cause of something, but it is absolutely NOT an excuse nor should it be treated as a “get out of jail free card”. There is also the added risk factor of highly skilled psychopaths who can masterfully manipulate even the most educated and experienced professionals in order to get an insanity plea. Mental illness or not, if you have done something as heinous and horrific as this girl did, you should never be free with the rest of society ever again, and you should pay for your crime in the same way as everyone else. I don’t care how long someone is kept in a mental hospital, if you are capable of doing something like this once, you are more than capable of doing it again. This poor mother got no justice in my opinion. This girl belongs in a prison cell, not a hospital bed.
