This video was very helpful because the PFA liner film was torn and I didn't know how to replace it!
In case you are wondering, I replaced the film on my Elegoo Saturn 4 ultra.
    ありがとうございます!!!

My FEP sheet on my Saturn 4 Ultra had got a pin size hole in it and I have ordered a 5 pack replacment from Amazon which should be here in a couple of days
I'm already going through withdraws because I can't use my printer so I'm now going to order a new 5 pack when I'm down to the last 2 FEP sheets in the new pack and I'm even thinking about buying a backup vat to keep on hand so I can print while replacing the FEP on the old vat

    No foam spacer? 😮

No sponge under the fep when tightening screws to get tension? I'm having problems with mine, I have just put a new 1.0 on my saturn and it's pulling prints off their supports on the prints around the edges. I've ordered some 2.0 to see if that helps, I really need it up snd running again.

I think this was the first video I've seen of this being done without something under the FEP when replacing to provide a little less tension on that first set of screws. It seemed to work out for him though. Just as I mentioned the first I didn't see someone put foam or cards or something under there.

Going through the same thing with my Mars 4 Max. At first it gave me nothing but perfect prints, then I had to replace the FEP sheet.
The first print off the new FEP worked perfectly, but every one after that got failed prints on the middle parts of the build plate; like it was becoming more loose with every print.
I got some new FEP 2.0 this morning, so I'm going to try this method (without the sponge for spacer) and see if it works.

I have no idea how you did that so easy. I'm using the 8k and the amount of force needed to get that plastic frame bolted back into the vat was pretty massive. My plastic frame is now bowed for some reason. Any tips? I'll probably just buy a replacement with it preinstalled .

I'm getting little ripple wrinkles in my FEP when I print on my Saturn... every print. It sucks.

You totally got this!! Glad it helped out. The Mars series sheets 5 pack is about $30, the Saturn 5 pack is $45. Here are the links to them on Amazon:
      Mars: amzn.to/3InCl5F
      Saturn: amzn.to/3wmpEFS
The version 1.0 sheets are cheaper, but I would recommend getting the 2.0 version, definitely less stick

I'm a newbie, just fitted my fep on my saturn, but I fitted it tight, no slack, but it works perfectly 🤷‍♂️..no printer errors, I do use a little PTFE spray on a cloth and wipe the fep on the inside of the vat just to aid the lifting process ..I think when I replace the fep again, I'd do the same thing again, ( assuming i have no problems) I dont think it needs any slack, I think it may even last longer without slack as it will naturally slacken a little with use as the fep stretches.

I have an app called decibel x and hold the vat upright to the microphone and tune it to 300hz. Note the vat can’t be upside down on the table as it won’t resonate.

  • @konrad6188

is there any downside to it being too tight? I've replaced my fep sheet and it as too loose despite me being pretty sure its the right tightness

What about tuning the film correctly so it is not too tight or loose? Using a tension tool ot sound analyzer?

Would you recommend any of the Elegoo printers? I'm a newbie and wondering if there's any difference between this or the filament type printers besides the material used? Thanks.

    • @ZacHiggins
      @ZacHiggins  2 года назад +1

I've been pretty happy with them personally, but they are a lot different than FMD printers. Just depends on what you want out of the printer. For woodturning applications, resin definitely turns better, but the printing process is messy and smelly, so it may not be worth the effort over FDM
