I can hardly wait to do this for myself. And I'm not a hoarder in the least. I just want to be able to take care of my family economicly.

    I love the couponing knowledge, but It was lovely to see your consideration of others. Some people can be selfish when couponing, e.g., taking all the products on sale, taking all the coupons from the vending machines, etc. It's very aggravating.

    I used to live in NYC, and the supermarkets never give you anything free for pricing errors ( which occurs all the time). I recently moved to Charlotte NC, and I was in a certain store, I asked why I didn't get the sale price for the toilet paper. The manager saw the error and I walked out the store with free toilet paper.

    I work at a grocery store, and some people think I'm annoyed by them using coupons or having to punch in their number for Ibotta (my store has to punch their phone number for the deal to work), but I love it and I get just as big of a rush as they probably do. It gives me something to talk about and I just love it.

    • @lynnelantin4621

      How does Ibotta work in the grocery store?

    • @swimgab458
      @swimgab458 9 лет назад

      basically, I have to ring up all of their groceries and at the end i push an ibotta button that allows me to punch in their phone number. other stores will have you take a picture of the receipt and the proof of purchase

    If I need newspaper coupons, I like that the Dollar Tree sells the sunday paper for $1 sometimes a day late, too, and also sells just the shopping section, so I’m not wasting $4 on one paper just to recycle it!
    I’ve been doing this for awhile now and should have watched this before. ;)

    Thank you for this. Thank you! Aside from the very basic way of grabbing a coupon from the mailed ads for an item that’s on my grocery list, or grabbing one that’s in the aisle, next to the product it’s for. I’ve never been able to get the hang of it. Finally starting to try…and I’ve watched many videos for “beginners” today that left me more confused than when I clicked on them. This is the only video that I feel I’ve understood. Im I’m the northwest so I don’t have most of the stores you talked about, but I feel I finally have a basic understanding of how the different coupons can work together.
    I love your anti-hoarding message, and reiterating to be kind to the cashiers and the other customers. We’re all just trying to get through the day, and just because we’re trying to save money doesn’t mean someone else should be disrespected with their time!

    I really enjoyed this video. My favorite part was discussing organizing coupons with the coupon binder and how it's not for everyone. "If you go there, you're gonna die," had me cracking up. I totally agree; cutting and folding all those coupons every week is a total pain in the ass and burnt me out for a while. Now using the accordion folder method I feel so much more efficient.

    Loved this video! Took lots of notes. My family runs on a very tight budget to begin with, and now my daughter is back under the roof, so things are just that much tighter. I have done the couponing thing before, but fell off the wagon. Planning to jump back on soon as possible. I live in a very rural area, so my options are kind of limited, but I do have a Publix within a 30 minute drive from me, and of course CVS as well. So glad I found this video! Thank you, Jenny, for all you do!

    Great video, so informative. Been couponing for over a year now and have seen a lot of savings. Just started price matching my Publix, Winn Dixie, Target at Walmart , mainly the BOGO items. I have seen a lot of savings. I live in Florida so my Publix does not double coupons. I still will purchase items at Publix that are better with their coupons and competitor coupons. For me Walmart is very helpful for my savings.

    Here's a Tip: *"If you're Bald and Don't use Shampoo, Leave it alone."* Don't get it because *"IT'S FREE!!!"* and use the "Oh I'll probably just give it to a shelter excuse". There are people who actually *_Need_* and use shampoos & other items who miss out on great deals (shelves cleared by hoarders) because some people feel like even if they don't need it take it; cause... *"IT'S FREE!!"*. Rain Checks are Cool and all but couponer(s) have to purchase alternative products at Regular Price while waiting for the items to get back in stock. Sometimes the Deal don't come back around for a while! Unless you're purchasing for Gift-Giving Season, Shelter Donation, Family & Friends....keep it moving.
    *_AWESOME video by the way... very detailed explanations about couponing for beginners. This will be helpful for many who are confused especially in the East Region._*

    Just a little tip for accordion folders that I came up with... When you start, place the first weeks inserts in the last pocket (the very back), the add in new inserts each week (in the 2nd to last, then 3rd to last, and so on) until it's full. Then pull the very first week out of the back and start moving forward again!! This prevents having dates all jumbled up!! Those who are a bit OCD like myself will LOOOVE this tip!!!!

    Although I'm still learning and trying to figure out how I can manage this on an SSI income, thank you for this tutorial. I've been praying about couponing. My husband and I want to start saving money to get out of debt and start a family with the right shoes on. I am from West and our paper is Fresno and Sacramento Papers. I got out local paper last week and you're right, I got the most coupons from two papers alone.
    I'm just beginning. Thank you once again for all you've done! God bless you.

      +Charlotte Hawkins SSI is need based public assistance, at least as far as i know.
      i would say you need to get off of public assistance before you have any business starting a family. if you can not support yourself, how do you intend to support children?

    • @charlottehawkins1316
      @charlottehawkins1316 8 лет назад

      SSI is I'm disability and meant for these who paid into retirement. That's a brief summary.
      Sweetie, i don't remember mentioning me. I am FULLY aware that getting off public assistance would be beneficial when starting a family. I do a agree, but let's face facts: most of the human population isn't born into parents who are financially stable.

    • @michelestrong2413
      @michelestrong2413 7 лет назад

      Carryclass has it wrong. I am disabled and get SSI....only because I didn't work for a certain period of time prior to filing for disability. It confuses the heck out of me, but I am no less disabled because of it.....and I am no less deserving and in need of it, than someone who has worked every day of their life! I worked plenty....sometimes 20 out of the 24 hours in a day.....I just didn't file for my disability close enough to those last working dates. Anyway, my point is this......I also want to learn this couponing thing, and on a very small income.

    You're right about calling the manufacturer. I called a manufacturing to let him know I like their tea and they sent me coupons. I had called Barilla pasta because I found a bug in my pasta. I let them know that I like their product and this is the first time anything like this has happened. They sent me one coupon $4 off and two coupons for free pasta.

    Thank you for all the helpful information. Unfortunately the only store out if all these that are with in 2 hours of me is Walgreens, Walmart and Target. It's very frustrating and difficult to duplicate these types of saving in my area. Local grocery stores don't accept printable coupons at all and you can only use two like coupons per day. No double coupons unless it's a special event. No store incentive programs or anything like that. I'm still trying to save what I can but it's a real challenge.

      If it helps any Target has some pretty awesome deals lately, and there are usually a few freebies every week at Walgreens. I don't know if you like in Florida, but Walmart in Florida is doing some fun stuff with price matching too!

      Southern Savers I'm in northwest Arkansas. Most stores don't seem to like coupons around here. Walgreen's is really the only place I've gotten many deals. I a few items I only buy there because it's a great deal. I've never gotten anything for free any where. I guess I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

    I think you did a superb job organizing and presenting this video. You are well spoken, interesting and ridiculously knowledgeable about couponing and store policies.
    UNFORTUNATELY, there are a few problems which more or less ruin the possibility of extreme couponing for me.
    #1 (most importantly) BRAND LOYALTY: I realize you told us this would be a problem, but giving up brand loyalty for me is NO SMALL MATTER. Does anyone reading this agree? I mean, Colgate Total ADvanced Fresh + whitening gel toothpaste, Mitchum gel deodorant, GLIDE Floss Picks, Bel Gioso Ricotta Cheese, Gilette Fusion Proglide Power Razors and Razor blades, Charmin Ultra STrong Toilet Paper, DAWN Platinum or Direct Foam dish soap, Cascade COMPLETE Dishwasher tabs, Boar's Head brand cold cuts (don't think you even have this in the South). I am 100% brand loyal to these things, because I'VE TRIED the competitors many times and they are just NOT AS GOOD! It's is an absolute lie to think that you are only paying for the "name". In some cases that's true, but it's far from being an accurate blanket statement. For example, I couldn't care less if I can get a 10 pack of cheap BIC disposable razors for FREE, because they SUCK! Sure, 4.5 per blade for Gilette, Fusion..... is absurd for a razor blade, but the fact is NOBODY makes even close to as good a blade for any price! Nearly ALL of the items I've listed almost NEVER go on sale, and NEVER have coupons available, because the manufacturers know they are top of the line and people will pay full price for them. I feel like your video implies that brand loyalty is not justifiable and only costs more, rather than "yielding" more as well. Do most viewers of this video think they could EASILY give up their brand loyalties or are most of you like I?
    #2 DIFFERENT STORES CARRY DIFFERENT BRANDS: I love trying to go to either Target or Walmart and price match everything that's not "best price" already to get my shopping done in one store. In reality, this NEVER works out. Nearly all stores carry different brands of eggs, milk, and other items, and Target won't give you 1 doz "market pantry" eggs for 1 dollar to match a coupon for "dutch farms" brand eggs from Ultra Foods. In the same vein, every store has their own butcher and they will NOT let you buy their ground beef at $3 per pound, just 'cause the store across the street is selling the same % fat ground beef for that. Every week, it ends up that I MUST go to about 7 different stores to get all the deals, because stores don't carry the same brands of the items which have the really deep discounts. If you shop all at one store, and just pay full price for the items which are on sale at other stores, you typically leave a minimum of 10 dollars on the table every week (which, unfortunately, I can't afford).
    #3 A SMALL ONE, BUT WORTH MENTIONING: The "Cartwheel app" from Target is WAY less awesome than it seems. There's no "catch" per se, but practically EVERYTHING which is discounted on the app is "market pantry" , aka "Target" brand. Look again at my #1 comment and you'll see why this is a problem for me (and probably many other shoppers).
    #4 I live in the Chicago, IL 'burbs. ALL the stores you cover, except CVS, Walgreens and Target/WalMart DON'T EXIST here. Are there any videos to which you could refer me which cover stores in MY area?
    Again, I do appreciate the great amount of time and effort that went into this vid. I just wish it were much more practical for me.
