    Thank you for this!!! I absolutely love my low low OOP!!! I’ll rather lose ECBs or Walgreens store points than lose the money in my bank account. NO reason to have 80 ECBs or 120k points if I’m still paying 10 or more oop just to get the same back in ECBs or points. Miss me with that. Store money doesn’t pay my bills 😂😂😂

      Thank you for this. Often my OOP is higher because I buy products that I really do want, rather than grab the cheapest items that qualify the threshold requirements. I also buy the more expensive cosmetics like L'oreal and skip the Wet & Wild ECB promos. But I definitely need a budget and to discipline myself more in that the best deal/discount is to spend NO money at all.

    Aloha Star, my name is Lei and I come from Maui Hawaii. I am writing to thank you for all the tips that you share. Here in Maui we are several dollars higher. After Co-vid 19 hit I found myself unemployed and unsure of what life was gonna be like. Being a preschool teacher for 20 years and having breast cancer in 2018 it made it impossible for me to be around children . I prayed and taught about how i could save money. I went online and heard your testimony. The Lord was speaking loud and clear, its time for a change. I started watching you and i was hooked. I literally fell asleep listening to you couponing. I swear to Jesus, it started adding up for me. I prayed , Lord show me the loop holes here in Hawaii. I applied what you were teaching and did the work. One of my biggest issues , is the only newspaper here on Maui is shutting down. NO INSERTS!!! OMG!!! but one of your lessons you shared about clipping services. THANK YOU! I have made a budget and let my earnings from coupons.com pay for it.I just started selling bundles and taking your wisdom with pricing and just everything....donating to my church ministries..in Hawaii we say , MAHALO NUI LOA which means lots of thank you....i didn't want to write a novel..this stuff is life changing and you had a big part in that. If you can give me any other advice my email is leinaalab@aol.com

    As a cashier in a grocery store, I can attest to the relationships with the customers who have the coupons. We're nicer and more forgiving to our customers who are nice and pacient, while customers who are rude and belittling, we will make it harder for them to be a couponer.

  • @eallae
    @eallae 3 года назад

    Being genuinely nice is so true. I’m french so extreme couponing is impossible here, they do everything for you not to do it and you can NOT double coupons. And you can NOT stack coupons with sales.
    But I live right in front of a small supermarket so we just go there a lot when we need anything. I worked there, my sister worked there, and my mom will chat and joke with just anyone , so she knows half of the cashier, ask about their studies, wish them happy birthday. She always did that genuinely.
    And she has been printing coupons for a few years now. And sometimes, the cashier will just take expired coupons or doubled them just because it’s her. Even if my mom doesn’t want to give them expired ones or anything, they will just be like « just give it to me they never check »
    Genuine kindness opens so many doors

I recently questioned 2 different highly- viewed couponers on RUclips about their "budgets" and "double-counting" store rewards, and both had almost no idea about the errors in truly calculating the cost of items. This is a major issue, and I am SO glad you discussed it in this video!! Excellent point....and it looks like I'll be adding your channel to my "coupon video viewing" routine!!!

I got a newspaper connect and I only go to store I have a relationship with or know the managers r cool to deal with. I think my 8 yr MARY KAY SALES DIRECTOR experience has really prepared me for this. It’s been only 5 yrs for me couponing, but it has saved me during Covid on every level from the hustle money, to us having a stockpile when everyone else was in long lines for TOILET PAPER😂 ‼️🙏🏼🎉🙌🏼 and I especially love being able to HELP the ones I choose to help, when I can see there is a true NEED 💘

    Another thing to mention is taking that extra time to prepare makes such a difference. You will leave money on the table otherwise. A pretty big RUclips coupon channel has a woman who every single week goes shopping and doesn’t use the digitals because she didn’t look over her account. She just throws together deals, over pays and says “well if you need the items” NO! We can not afford to be out here dropping $5, $10 here and there. It adds up. We are here go spend as little as possible. Period.

    Girl ive seen a few channels that say they had 5$ money maker by spending 25 dollars and getting 30 back in points! Oh no, not me!!
    Could you maybe go over some steps on how you get deals together for CVS. Do you check out the ad first or see what coupons are coming out? See what rebates any of the sale items might have? Whats giving back ecbs? I just am not sure what the easiest way to start. Honestly, I watch a couple of hauls and just copy the deals if i have all of the same coupons. I want to be able to do it myself tho. Ive been couponing for a while and when i started the drugstores, it was too confusing to learn all of wags quirks and try to do cvs too. I was getting deals mixed up between the 2 stores or thinking i had a digital at wags that i had seen on the cvs app lol. Im ready to try cvs again.
    This video was needed! Very important and great tips! Especially about the rebate apps. People need to be using them, they are game changers for sure.

    Thank you Star for being so real and open with and about your couponing. I was watching your most recent cvs haul and how you did it and a light bulb went off in my head that she is doing this different than I ever learned. I sat on my floor researching for hours how you did that. And like you said couponing is a lot of work. I used to do it years ago, I did ok. But not with the understanding I am receiving now. You don't just coupon and stockpile to do it, there is a purpose and an art to this. Thank you Star for being there to open my eyes. I really appreciate what you do and all you share. By the way...lol....I did have a cashier say to me just this week I can not let you take out all of this merchandise out of this store for free. She was a manager, and she called another manager up to help her. I was nice and patient. I waited. The other manager came up and verified. I'd already had another interaction with him the week before and told him what I did. So he knew me and was fine with the transaction. I'm not she she really understands yet, but I will continue to be nice and patient and try to explain more as I learn more. As I'm still learning. May God bless you on this journey. Thank you again!!!

    This is so INCREDIBLY helpful, every other person I've tried watching about couponing always says " I spent $$ BUT I did get store credit so I only spent $$" which i guess it does make sense, but to me it's not a good deal. I 100% agree with you. They also bring stacks of coupons, and not everyone can hustle and afford stacks of coupons. Perfect video for beginners. I've learned more from you in 15 minutes than the countless videos and forums I've read in the couple months I've tried to start couponing.

    Yes Star! It is about time someone said it. I get so annoyed seeing people make posts about the “I spent $21 on this transaction at the beauty event but they gave me back $27 in point.. they paid me for getting this” and the only thing I can think is NO! You just spent over $20 on stuff we get almost free at cvs every week.

    Yes! The Time Commitment! I spend like 10 hours on Sunday putting my deals together a but I feel it’s cause I’m still super new. I always try to give myself a budgets that’s so important! (No more then $15- $20 cash going in the store). I’ve been going to the same locations many times to coupon to the point where they are calling me “coupon queen” when I walk in which gasses me up haha! I worked retail for years so I’m SUPER nice to cashier/staff. These tips were great! Thank you so much for always being helpful and nice!

    Thank so much. The time commitment was the one thing that really surprised me . And than when selling my bundles people try to haggle you down and they have no idea how much time went into it. The time spent cutting out the coupons time in the store dealing with rude cashier's gas spent going from store to store. Than the time spent clipping digitals and putting away the stock afterwards . I am so thankful to you because you have encountered me and taught me so much . I do love the relationships that I have built up with certain cashier's.

      What’s helped me curb the amount of time committed to couponing and maintain my joy is to decide what was important to me at that time. I tell myself that I don’t need to spend every good coupon and I don’t need to chase after every good deal. There will always be deals. Maybe I won’t go out of my way to get a laundry deal this week because I already have lots and maybe a different deal at another store or online is more worthwhile.

    I know this is an older video, but I have to say, THANK YOU FOR THIS! It takes me hours, too. I felt like I was stupid because it takes me a while figuring the deals out and organizing them before I go to the store and make my purchases. There have also been times when deals didn't work, and I was embarrassed, because again, I felt dumb. I feel so much better, i can't even.

  • @jilltiger2739
    @jilltiger2739 3 года назад

    I started to get into more serious couponing a few years ago, but got a job where I didn't have the time to commit. Now I have the time.
    I appreciate your points in this video, because it seemed like I was taking so long to get things together and was wondering if I was "doin' it wrong." I am happy to hear that I am on the right track. Little things - like knowing the Walmart app has the locations of the items in the store, while the online website does not, helps me easily find things, and organize the order I shop so I am not backtracking. THAT kind of stuff saves me time so I can to devote time to couponing where I can't "go any faster" getting things together.
    I am taking to heart all I hear. I just recently found you. I agree that with the money OOP I have, I can't have it locked up in Extra Care Bucks awaiting the next great sale to be able to spend it. And, as some of you have said, it won't pay the bills that require cash. It does me no good to stock on 3 months of shampoo if I already have enough for six, but need more food!
    I love your friendly great attitude! Being agreeable with store clerks is always advised, even if you aren't couponing! Everyone appreciates a pleasant transaction. :-)
    I am SO glad I found you! I am joining "the family!"

    I love couponing! I've been doing it for a few years to make sure I'm getting more bang for my buck instead of robbing peter to pay Paul. But here lately I've been researching how to step my game up a little more. It is very time consuming but what might be a little shocking...I actually enjoy randomly researching for stuff...it's like a hide and seek game for me. Plus whatever products I know my family aren't going to use or even have room for, gets donated to friends/family or when you're in a store parking lot and a person tells you they don't want money just something to eat (true story) and you make sure it's plenty just because it's the right thing to do. Apologies for being long-winded..my most recent shopping trip yesterday...in total I saved about a hundred bucks (which is okay...2 of my coupons wouldn't scan..basically I had over 100 items at one store and it averaged out to $1.31 per item along with freebies yayy). Overall, saving money is like a reward after all our prep. My son says he's not surprised anymore when I come home from shopping and it's helping him learn how to organize/budget/get some exercise unloading it and putting it all up. Life skills all around haha Thank you for sharing...Liked, Shared and Subscribed. :-)

    I’ve been waiting for something like this! Extreme couponing on TLC is the reason I started, however you are right the cashiers in Brooklyn frown on the customers with coupons, and I constantly find myself either paying too much or arguing with them! Especially in a state like New York, where everyone is on the go! I’m definitely guilty of paying too much money so far! Only because the papers doesn’t come with the coupons you be getting! Great video. You are so right about all of this, I just started back in February 2020. However, the one that hit the hardest is the out of pocket that I see some couponers paying. I'm like you if I have to pay $20 of my own money, I don't care if the store gives me $20 back. That is my idea of extreme couponing. I like $5 or under. Or even better, I got a $0 out of pocket deal at CVS today. It was a small deal, $44 but I learned from you and others from the beginning so I am not likely to come out of pocket for more than $5. That's just me. I am mostly only doing Walgreens and CVS cause I have a physical challenge and those 2 stores are enough for me. However, it is fun, challenging, and all of the above you mentioned. Thanks again for the wonderful video.
