This years' Spring saw a huge variety of locomotives, from a number of designers, taking to the rails at preserved railways all around the South coast - and on the Mainline. From Wainwright to Bulleid, Churchward and Collett to Gresley and Stanier, Spring has brought out some of the best that British Steam has to offer.
Filmed at 9 different preserved railways, and on the Mainline, this video features over 35 locomotives; demonstrating the variety and diversity of the steam locomotives that have survived into preservation in Britain. As well as this, the video showcases the countless hours devoted by volunteers across the country, to keep the memory of steam alive in Britain for the future generations to enjoy.

I think they could put more work into looks because they didn't need to haul as much as far because the UK is very small

I grew up on Steam Trains and still love 💕 them. Taking my daughter and granddaughter to see some next Sunday and have a ride.

I just can’t get enough of the shots of Mayflower! She’s got to be my favorite engine now.
We had Mayflower & another B1 in Hull at the now defunct Humberside Locomotive Preservation Group. We had the best shed facilities at Dairycoates & had hosted both Mallard & Evening Star. Obviously years ago as Mallard has been retired for a long time. Probably around 28 years ago. We rebuilt Sir Lamiel, Black 5 Alderman Draper & Great Northern tank 1247. Then Hull Shitty Council evicted us & demolished the engine shed & works.

Brilliant selection of preserved loco's, absolutely love Mayflower & the four pannier's were stunning, great video.
Excellent videography.
One small improvement might be to place in (say) the bottom right hand corner a description of each location (and if applicable the name of the preserved railway, if not a main line sequence).
As I'm from Oz and have only travelled on a couple of preserved lines (NYMR and SVR, although have done many main and quite a few branches) this is a real help notwithstanding that preserved locos do move from one railway to another at times.
UK has the best heritage and tourist railway scene in the world: I am not the only Melburnian wanting to travel if our August 2020 nightly curfew and five kilometre radius travel restriction ever ends.

I’m a big fan of North American steamers, as I’m from the US, but nothing beats the elegance of a big British steamer. Though I would still take a big US freight steamer over any European locomotive in a heartbeat. Either way, I enjoyed this video a ton! Thanks for sharing this great content

Thank you for a great lineup and a wonderful video. But the condition of some of the lines is starting to look dangerous. There were many occasions during the video where we were watching locomotives violently bouncing around on the tracks, which I'm sure is starting to become a safety issue. Cheers

The loco at 4:46 is an Ex-GWR 5700 'Pannier Tank', and is the basis of Duck.
33:55, BR(S) 'Battle of Britian' Class, part of the wider collection of Bulleid's Light Pacifics, and is the basis of Rebecca.
The loco at 10:00 is an SE&CR H Class. Oliver is based off of a GWR 1400 Class, which has less wheels than the H.
