Dude, puddingstone was my home Lake when I was a kid, and where are you stuck that Chapo fish I won my first team tournament split shotting a smoke purple, and black Flake Yamamoto grub! We Weighed in about 15 1/2 pounds. There’s big fish in that lake. At least there used to be. There is basically five spots on puddingstone. You stumbled on to Two of them Piru Reservoir used to be our go to when we couldn’t get onto a Castaic for numerous reasons, because the county lifeguards run it. Silverwood, or Lake Perris would’ve been my choices. I’m not sure anymore if they allow kayaks, I think they do though. You did good getting a fish the first time on PuddingStone. It’s always been a feast or famine lake, and has gone down hill over the years!
That’s a good bag for this lake. Im sure theres big fish in every lake. I just didnt have enough experience fishing Puddingstone to find where they were hiding. I spoke with some locals and they pretty much have this lake dialed. Basically saying the samething you are. Thank you for the information. Ill definitely be back to this lake and any lake near it. Thank you for watching.
Thanks brotha. Hard to edit when I’m not catching anything haha. The guy I met at the end of the video was saying the same thing. He told me the locals just throw bluegill swim baits all day to catch big bass or dropshot until you catch something. It’s a s Small lake and is definitely pressured. I went to Perris like 15 years ago. I’ll have to put that on my list. Thanks for the reminder 👍🏻🍻🍻
Bro those days are the worst. Drove almost the whole way to Sedona AZ from SoCal last year to be met with flash flooding and oak creek canyon was closed 😂. Shit happens, glad you made the best of it. 🤙🏼
Damn dude.. it’s sucks! When you get turned away you just look at the person working the booth like “ you’re F$&king kidding me right?” I just drove 4 hours for nothing.. have to find water somewhere.
I drove down there right before Christmas and there was a ton of people camping down there right now. maybe i go down there after the holidays @@myotherlinefishing
Sweet. when im back out that way ill have to hit these places up. I drove out to cachuma last year and they turned me away. you have to "30 day" dry dock your boat before you can use it at cachuma. Dumb CA rules for mussels.
Go to Pyramid lake when you are in the area. Stripers, smallmouth and largemouth. Main channel holds a lot of fish espically when they are pumping water. Good luck and if you can time with a trout plant it can be fire
What’s up Rob.. yeah I’ve heard that place is crazy with striper. I’ll definitely go to pyramid this winter…With the cold weather coming I’ll definitely have to put that “front facing sonar” on the kayak and go poke around. Thank man 👍🏻🍻🍻
Yo! you can still kayak both upper and lower Castaic, but your vessel has to be BONE DRY. Not even a bit of moisture and they will turn you away.. Dry all you gear prior to arriving
@@rhalub I found out later that castaic is ran by Lifeguards.. if it’s too windy or there’s an algae outbreak they won’t let kayakers out on the lake. They told me to fish the lower lake but I just left and went to puddingstone
What’s up man. As I was driving into California I called up Diamond Valley, Skinner lake and they said no sit on top kayaks. That’s when I went to Castaic and they also turned me away due to algae. I’m sure there’s lakes around that allow kayaks but it seems like SoCal area lakes are tougher to get onto with a kayak. It’s just prospective coming from Arizona where no one cares. Lol 😂
@@CramersPage wow that’s crazy! Sorry you didn’t have a better experience. Most lakes in the Central Valley and northern Ca allow it. Let me know next time you roll through!
Yeah in Cali, power fishing for bass is almost non existent. You want to catch consistently you have to go more finesse. So many people fish these lakes they've seen everything. If you're still out here, go to newport harbor and fish for some spotted bay bass. It'll change your life. Use the same freshwater bass lures minus the topwater stuff.
Thanks man. I was in shock to see so many drops shot being thrown in September. Wtf. Everyone was fishing like they were at a local pond. I was just talking about going ocean fishing. I saw a lot of kayaks going off the beach in La Jolla. Definitely have to check that out. Thank bro 👍🏻🍻🍻🍻

@@CramersPage yes very true. it’s 50/50 tho. sometimes you can be out there past noon if it doesn’t get rough. You can but it’s no halibut or sea bass. Spotties will satisfy your tug and give you numbers, occasionally you can hook into a big halibut but offshore is strictly for size not numbers imo
Man sounds like you need to come fish NorCal. We don’t have any of those liberal kayak laws over here 😂. What a bummer I have a trip plan next month and I was going to hit up Castaic, silver wood , puddingstone, and Perris
It was just one of those days where nothing was going to go right.. yes sir. I’m Moving to NorCal in 2 weeks to join the tournament. See you out there 👍🏻🍻😎
Kinda crazy! I graduated from Parker High School but mostly have lived in So Cal. Just started bass fishing from Ventura, California about 5 years ago. So I have fished Castaic, Casitas and Pyramid a lot. I just went on a trip in late October to Lake Mojave, Havasu and the river at Parker where my dad lives. I just think it’s funny that we did the exact opposite trips! Check my channel out if you wanna see what I’ve been up to.
Parker high school.. I always see kids walking home from school when it’s hotter than hell outside. They look like middle schoolers though. I’ve been to those California lakes a handle full of time.
