      I'm asking for you
      If impossible to extend to MOA
      Can MRT 3 extend to NAIA from Taft?

      And domestic road

    • @philippineassociationofrai8305
      @philippineassociationofrai8305  5 лет назад

      @@JoshuaRail3070 MRT-3 can't extend on these roads/areas anymore, especially to SM Mall of Asia. Why? You see the LRT-1's viaduct at Pasay Rotonda? You think MRT-3 trains can pass under that very low viaduct? Extending the MRT-3 to MOA will surely cost billions. That billion can be used to build a new and another railway line here in Manila or somewhere here in our country. That billion can be used to buy new trains too.
      In short, extending the MRT-3 to SM MOA is just a waste of taxpayers' money.
      So I'll ask you a question: Would you still want to extend the MRT-3 to SM MOA and waste those billions of money?

    • @philippineassociationofrai8305
      @philippineassociationofrai8305  3 года назад +1

      Lol. It's just coincidental since the train was passing through a rail switch that time under a strict 10kph speed limit due to worn-out tracks. The limit on switches was raised to 20kph in mid-2020 after most old rails had been replaced, thanks to the Sumitomo-led rehabilitation.

      The original and maximum speed for the MRT-3 is 65kph.
      In 2013, it was reduced from 65 to 50kph, after the original maintenance provider Sumitomo-TESP and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries unreasonably removed by the Former DOTC Secretary Mar Roxas.
      But in 2014, an CKD Tatra RT8D5M of MRT-3 derailed and overshoots at MRT Taft Avenue Station. The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC; now DOTr) decided to reduce the speed again from 50 to 40kph.
      In 2016, The Department of Transportation (DOTr) terminated the contract of Busan Universal Rail Inc (BURI) (former maintenance provider of MRT-3) because of the reported corruption and anomalies.
      After the DOTr terminated their (BURI) contract, the DOTr temporarily took over the MRT-3's maintenance and they created a maintenance team called DOTr MRT-3 Maintenance Transition Team (commonly known as DOTr MRT-3 MTT)
      In November 2018, Sumitomo-TESP and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is now officially back as the MRT-3's maintenance provider, after the Japanese and Philippine government signed the Loan Agreement worth P14B for the MRT-3 Rehabilitation. The MRT-3 Rehab will last for 43 months.

      MRT-3 system can accomodate 4-car configurated LRVs, but the power upgrade has not yet (I think) finished. As you can see on the MRT-3's stations, there is a remaining space reserved for the additional car when a 3-car config train stops on the stations.
      But if I was asked, I would like to retain the MRT-3's trains in 3-car configuration, rather than upgrading to the maximum 4-car configurated train sets. But why?:
      - MRT-3 trains does not look good (in aesthetical) anymore if the 4-car configuation was pushed through.
      - And it would make the original MRT-3 trains' (the CKD Tatra RT8D5M LRVs) lifespan shorter because of the additional weight caused by the use of 4-car configuration setting.
      My advice is don't force the MRT-3 to run on a full 4-car configurated train sets setting. The current 3-car config is enough to serve 350,000 daily passengers of the MRT-3 system.

    The gov't should not run the MRT-3 line they as they are inefficient. They should award the O & M to the private sector similar to the LRT 1. Look at the operation of the LRT 1 it has no more problem when it was awarded to the private sector. The reason behind is that the person appointed is a political consideration and not due to competence.

    • @philippineassociationofrai8305
      @philippineassociationofrai8305  5 лет назад

      I agree with your opinion but awarding the O&M of MRT-3 to another private conglomerate is impractical. Why? Because MRT-3 is still owned by a private corporation led by Robert Sobrepeña named Metro Rail Transit Corporation (MRTC), and there's still 6 more years before the BLT Agreement between MRTC and DOTr expires.
      The best solution for now is to let the private owners again to maintain and operate the MRT-3. The government still holds the whole responsibility on MRT-3 as we talk. The DOTr thinks that they are capable on operating the said system.

    • @philippineassociationofrai8305

      Disagree privatizatioj will lead to high fare. This should be kept by the government and they should just maintain it and besides sumitomo is our maintenance provider so what is the difference between government own vs privatization when in fact they will both use sumitomo as their maintenace provider. The difference government can lower the pricw for services while privatization will look for profit leading to higher fare

    • @philippineassociationofrai8305
      @philippineassociationofrai8305  6 лет назад +2

      Very true. MRT-3's rails are not replaced since it was first laid during the MRT-3's construction in 1998. The reason why there are huge cranking sounds on this video is because of the many dents, cracks, and fish clamps on the rails, caused by the continous rail grinding of the old rails.
      Speaking of soundproofing, the Dalian Trains are well soundproofed. You can rarely hear noises from the outside when the doors are closed.

      @@kamijousawamura3168 Actually, the MRT-3's first proponent EDSA LRT Corporation Ltd by Eli Levin planned to build a LRT line along EDSA, by using a metro-type LRV like the Dubai Metro is using today. Stations designs are large and has a world-class look.
      But in 1995, Robert John Sobrepeña bought the EDSA LRT Corporation of Eli Levin. From EDSA LRT Corporation, he (Sobrepeña) renamed it into Metro Rail Transit Corporation (MRTC), while the EDSA LRT Holdings Inc was renamed into Metro Rail Transit Holdings Inc (MRTH). Sobrepeña's Group decided to create a development group to handle the land development of North Triangle and other commercial-related business, and the Metro Rail Transit Development Corporation (MRTDC; mostly known as MRT DevCo) was created.
      In short, the MRT-3 was not supposed to be a real MRT line.
