    The next time the angle grinder won't turn on or the power cuts out while turning.
    Grab the wire and pull while doing this, the rest of the wire will break and you will see the failure point when the shell stretches from the break point. First remove the plug from the socket.
    Thanks for the nice video.

  • @arni7045
    @arni7045 5 месяцев назад +6

    With the Metabo grinder, after 40 years of repairing "stuff" the cable most of the times faults at the tool end when behaving like this, some times at the socket. Most of the time you can pull the wire from the cord with two fingers so the fault is few centermeters from the tool where it flexes the most. I have gotten many free tools just because of this simple fix.

    Andris, In Alberta my battery guy told me to charge the battery for 10 hours once a year and should last you 10 to 20 years. I keep my eye open for serviceable batteries. The ones you can put distilled water in. Much better batteries all around. And if you heat it up here and there you can add more distilled water and recharge. I get at least 8 years out of them and then usually I have traded the car in. Easy-Peasy. I also buy brand new Blems if you can.

    As for the "bunker", I think it's a great idea. I would check into the price of a precast "septic" tank (No worries about driving over it with a car or small tractor) and/or, if available there, a reinforced plastic one or any other similar, watertight vessel that's big enough, before casting one yourself. An emergency bunker might be a possibility? Or the same companies may make something suitable.
    If going with precast, get any holes you need made by them. Plus get seals from them. This was you know they'll last.

    Definetly build a pump house. My grandfather built one from "narva plokk". Nowadays its called Aeroc or whatever. 30 cm thick walls act as a insulation as well. At - 10 C it needs some extra heating in there, but thats because the floor is level with ground and the foundation is made of limestone. Cold gets through. Still, quite good. Half the floor is concrete, the other half 16/32 gravel on top of sand. That way if you have water accidents, it will seep into the ground even during winter. In that pump house you can also mount a lets say 1 ton water tank, for when there is no electricity or other emergencies.

Most angle grinders and corded drills always fail on the cable just after the rubber strain relief on the end of the handle.

Please keep in mind safety first, many of us are concerned for your safety when using the lathe, drill press etc. please don't wear gloves using these tools and no lose clothing either it is so easy for items to get caught in these machines we tell you this only because we care and do not wish for you to get hurt. Surprise! We thought you lived with super mom. Are you working on the cabin for yourself to live in? It would be great place for you. And you can be close to the family but not in the same house or do you live close already? Hows super moms room coming along? Looking forward to next weeks episode no matter what it is I am sure we will enjoy it. Have a great weekend and a great week. Batteries on start and stop vehicles are not classic lead acid batteries.
    The are EFB or AGM (Enhanced Flooded Battery /absorbent glass mat ) they last way less by design, they are made to discharge deeper than classic lead acid batteries,and are smaller.
    The little module bolted right on the battery lead is responsible to measure direct battery voltage and decide if the start and stop can be used or not.
    EFB or AGM batteries are way more expensive to buy.
    3 years is normal life span for this kind of battery,you can improve that by not using start and stop at all,wich will save life of your starter motor and engine life in general.
    You have a EFB battery ,it's written on it on its top.

    Great video as always. The locking ring coming out from the front axel on the T-40AM is a very common issue. I did notice the locking ring(pushing) has the hole egged out. The fact it came loose is not a very good sign. If you put Loctite on the threads of the locking pin. It should not migrate outwards. So temporary you have it fixed at least to the foreseeable future. I both a one ton cube for watering plants for 90eur. But it's a clean chemical free container. I could have gotten a random one for much cheaper but don't want to poison myself. I like the idea using the metal frame to store firewood and this little cube box stores a lot of it.

    Ant the CRV batteries don’t last because the computers continually use power. The Soviet dozer you have a battery isolation switch as it doesn’t have to retain memory of current configuration.

    Nice Video. Sometimes the copper in the wire itself is broken without any damaged at the outside, these contactless voltage detectors works great for checking such cables

    Golden rule check for power first, then continuity of the cable, then the switch.
    If you haven't already done so check out the guru of power tool repair....Dean Doherty. The guy is brilliant.

    The wire always breakes right before the tool. Just cut 15cm from the tool and wire it again. A molded plug will almost never breake 🤠

    Happy new year bro, another video with antspants random jobs, those are always fun.
    I work with LED lighting as a day job (from cars to household, you name it). From what it seems, your portable LED shows signs of life, which means the battery probably is good, but it only registers "low charge" and does not light up at all, even while plugged in, my guess is it has gotten moisture ingress, and one of the boards or part of a circuit has a short on it, probably something that does battery management, so it 'thinks' it's nearly empty and wont allow to fire up. Could be a simple fix for an electrician, could be "throw it away". If it's an expensive light, could be worth looking into it, if it's a cheap doodad made from mostly Chinesium, then bin it.

      Someone has fiddeled with it before. The locking hex heads bolts are stripped

    • @SideKickStudios
      @SideKickStudios 5 месяцев назад

      @Ants_Pants Aah, then there may be a temporary fix done that has unfixed itself. The stripped screws can be drilled out and replaced, that shouldn't be a major issue, but it's hard to determine what the malfunction is or how difficult of a fix it is, without seeing inside. If it's financially viable, that is it's not the cheapest light out there, i could potentially help you at least see if it's revivable.

    I have seen a guy take the plastic liquid tank and cut it diagonally in 2 pieces , leaving 2 plastic “a frame “ roofs that he used to keep the rain water off the firewood in the cage. That seems to be the best way to “use what you got” . (Also this same method makes a great roof for a dog house too.

    I'm really happy to see you clean the Fasteners and oil them before trying to take them off. Usually you just get the impact and send it. I am surprised you don't break more bolts.But, in the end, the angle grinder always wins! Happy New Year!

    The wires frequently break at a tool from all the flexing as you use a tool.
