Hello everyone and welcome to another video :-) In this one I FINALLY stayed in the book themed capsule hotel in Tokyo that I've been wanting to visit for ages. Japan has a lot of capsule hotels--but this one is pretty unique, in that, it's absolutely filled with books! It was so incredibly beautiful. It was an absolute dream to film these clips at the book themed capsule hotel. However, actually trying to sleep there... was a very memorable experience indeed 😅

the editing in this video is so effortlessly funny
Thank you 💛💛
Omg it’s the book Leo!
"not unlike a cheap coffin" 🤣🤣🤣 I enjoyed this video way more than I expected I would.
(very) weird encounters aside, the idea that you can just go to a library and just ... not ... leave when the day is over sounds amazing. The lighting looks great with the wooden furniture and random books, it's such a mood, but ... I have a feeling I would want to fall asleep (somewhere else? :D) pretty quickly.
It was so funny to hear all that story happened, just hilarious. I was laughing like a kid 😂 ❤
locking a door is a must for me too. I had to live in a shared space once for a very short time, even then, I made sure to lock my bedroom door. there's just a sense of safety in that. lovely vlog 😅💕
We demand a vlog explaining growing up in caravan parks, especially the wolf spider infested one 😮
Definitly 😊
Travel horror that pans out always make the best stories ✨🌙✨
Hostels are so hit and miss when it comes to nighttime happenings, this seems like one of those places where if you just picked it up and dropped it into a different district it would be the most lovely place. I stayed at a hostel like that in Canada once and it was the same sort of thing... the hostel itself was adorable, but it was in an entertainment district so it was surrounded by (tbh pretty unsafe) party crowds and had some very drunk guests.
I've stayed in a few hostels now and I pretty much always stay in a 6 or less person room, always female only, or if it's cheap enough I'll treat myself and get a private room. Those are usually pretty decent, and half the price of hotels. A full-on book hostel with these expanded room options--not just co-ed capsules--could be really awesome! Especially if it was located in more of an artsy brunch district than a nightlife one :)
okay that's it i'm booking my trip to tokyo ✈
Hi Christy! I loved this video concept, and appreciated your honest and truthful feedback regarding the nighttime events 😂 that had happened staying in a hostel. Thank you truly for being honest, as for most of us who hasn’t been to Japan, we may just blindly follow tips we see just because of the aesthetics! This truly made me value your reviews even more! My partner and I are looking into visiting Japan after our wedding next year, and would really love a video on tips and tricks on budgeting a trip to Japan from Australia. ❤
You always look happy while in Japan.
its refreshing seeing this video, because ive watched other ones of this same place. now i understand that a locking and gender separated capsule hotel will be the place for me if i ever end up staying in one.
this was lovely to watch (although I am sorry you had such a anxious night)! it's so nice and actually quite refreshing to see a review that is both careful and honest. I'm glad you reconsidered and talked about your complete experience, with all its ups and downs.
Yikes! The hole in the ceiling alone would have been grounds for a bad review. I am so sorry you experienced all that. And I hope you gave the front desk some info about your experience. Honest reviews are so necessary--thank you for that!
I kinda envy people who can just go wherever, sleep wherever, to me hostels are a literal nightmare. 🙈 Even standard non-capsule ones. But that café and reading spaces were gorgeous indeed.
I've definitely had interesting hostel experiences in many countries.
I kept thinking i would be crazy anxious to be in such a space with no lock on the door. your experiences after midnight just solidified my fears!! Oh my God! 😵💫😅 youre a braver (wo)man than i, gunga din!
😅 I couldn't help but laugh till my stomach hurt. In the first 2 minutes that made crack up for the "...if you're easily conned by pretty women..." 😆 and then it ended being the normal lovely chill regular video, until the event!!! I'm still laughing! The way it developed and the sudden turn from quiant to dramatic was masterful! But the best part is seeing a redhead turning red is enough said,😂🤣😂
Love the atmosphere, i'll certainly give a try for a next trip, just for the experience.
Such a funny story! I love how in Japan they have so many themed things
Hi Christy! You never cease to amaze with your awesome content! By the way, you look great with the umbrella! Have a great day!
Oh god I am like, in the middle of watching the video, still watching it, but I just HAVE to mention that zoom when you talked about book and clubbing pairing love it
I love this! I traveled quite a bit in my twenties and I have some crazy stories. I'm so happy you kept that story in. It's so real.🤣 I hope the rest of your Japan travels were a bit more peaceful, but not any less interesting..? 🤷Or at least interesting in other ways. 😉
I loved the hanging of the Akira manga, that looked so cool, along with the idea of just going to a library and staying for a night.
What an amazingly bookish experience, despite some setbacks! Always love your creative videos Christy 🙌
"not unlike a cheap coffin" XD omg!
I’m subscribing not only because this video was a great first impression of you, but you also won me over with Sleep Token! ❤
Girl I would have checked out immediately!
this looks so peacful and absolutely magical...
Years ago I stayed at many hostels around the world including many in Australia and absolutely loved the experience! There is something unsettling about it, but the again, that was part of the fun 😮
This was so funny😂😭 And beautiful
The variety of content you try to show is amazing. Really happy to have subscribed to your channel
Love the books and the aesthetic.
I loved seeing this video and anything related to your travels in Japan. Yes, I laughed quite bit about the hostel stay. Even more so when you said it was serviceable. It seems like that noisy woman was definitely being serviced😂. Ok, I will stop. Thanks again for such great content!
So lovely to watch this (despite your eventful night!) - it looks like such a unique place to stay! x
Always my favorite mood maker❤ lots of love for you ❤
I was laughing so hard lol! so glad you didn't scrap the video haha
I'm so sorry to hear you didn't have a great hostel experience! I've luckily only had positive hostel experiences in Japan. But I do make sure to only ever go to hostels with a women only sleeping section. It probably makes a big difference (though maybe not for those wanting to cry and....) 😅
Love seeing your content, and seeing all these wonderful bookish places all over the world!
Really beautiful and interesting video! :) Sorry to hear how your first hostel experience went! I have stayed a lot in hostels and never experienced anything quite like that! But i have noticed that in the past few years people have been more rude in hostels (not caring about other people sleeping for example). I feel before covid people were more considered and polite. There is also lot of hostels (at least in Europe) that you can book private rooms. I usually choose a room with 6 or 8 people.. 12 to 20 is too hectic for me :D
Yeaaah, hostels are special 😅 I have experienced a few during one of my Europe trips. After that - never again. Probably, only if I have super duper tight budget. On the other hand- it’s a good opportunity for travelling when you are on budget.
Hi christy! I love your videos and especially like your honest review of the place despite the beautiful book aesthetic. I would want to go there myself and enjoy their book collection but would prefer sleeping in another place😂. Love you❤❤
that's the reality of travelling and especially of travelling as a girl. The fear is REAL. Had I been myself, my personality and all, but in the body of a male, I probably would've gone and complained in a situation like the one you described, but no, I totally get your comment of being "already uncomfortable and not having a lock on my door". Oof-- so sorry that happened to you. BUT the rest of the video is super sweet
Adorable Episode!
I’ve been really lucky in staying in hostels. The worst one I stayed in had no AC and it was suuuppper humid. I stayed in a great Korean hostel in Paris.
And as I progress through the video, I realize that the zoom with the book and clubbing pairing is not the only funny part (obviously referring to the lady having a "good" time) jokes aside, oh gosh that is.. that is mortifying
Omg haha insane! Im glad you are ok and can laugh about it 😅
clicked "like" five seconds into the video. christy never disappoints
Loll I’m dying. Ending the aesthetic mood hahahahahaha
Lmaoooo that story. Unbelieveable.
Yay sleep token to the rescue ❤ DYWTYLM is my new favourite song😅
No this is exactly why the idea of pods is not for me! Lmao the café itself is so cute tho🥺
Wow what an adventure! I don't think I'd be able to sleep knowing that there was a hole in the capsule lol.
Since you enjoy Japan and the Japanese culture I think you might enjoy Shogun one of James Clavell’s books from his Asian series.
😂😂😂just hilarious❤ she was very VOCAL
Christy Thanks Much !.......
Wow I mean funny to look back on but dang thats not what was wanted, Im so grouchy when I dont get sleep 🙃
On the plus side your video was brilliant and very aesthetically pleasing ✨️
Oh no!!! Appreciate the video😅😅
Did you post any videos from your trip to Japan in May? Really enjoy all your Japan videos!
I did a double take EVERY time this person said “Host-ELLLLLLLE” 😂
but that's how you say it in an Australian accent 😭 😭 😭 What is it in your accent? HOAST-el?
@@christy-anne-jones “Host-l”, as if the e before the l is silent. There’s no right or wrong way, just funny. Never heard it pronounced like that ever !
I'll already leave a thumbs up!
Very beautiful Hostel . What an experience ! Definitly unlucky i have satyed in Hostel and i depends if the people staying are cool and educated or not i have Made good Friends and also met some not friendly people . Definitly a cheap way to travel i did it in My 20 don't know if i would do it in My 30 , Will see😅
My kind of place
So, this was quite cute and traumatizing at the same time 🙃
Hostels aren't for me, I guess they are too unpredictable haha. But this place looks soooo pretty. Do you have any bookstores in Japan to recommend? Especially those that sell a lot of Japanese translated books?
I'm honestly shocked there aren't rules about that sort of thing (the woman) and that the staff didn't intervene. I would also hate it with no locks on the door. I'm impressed you got any sleep whatsoever. I've watched hostel vids from other youtubers and they seemed more secure, also gender separated, which would be a more comfortable experience. But yeah, given the choice, I'd be staying at a normal hotel.
My slight claustrophobia could never.
that literally sounded like my nightmare
Christy I don't think you were unfair in your review considering your experience, at all! However, I'd love to point out for anyone in the comments that hostels vary a LOT depending on country. For example in Portugal (where I live), I've stayed in three different hostels and they were basically like a cheap hotel. I had an individual room and included bathroom. I stayed in one in Luxembourg that was also pretty decent, albeit not as nice. Then I stayed in one in Dublin that was a DUMP 😅an absolute shithole with a communal bathroom. It can be very different, so I just wanted to leave this note here :)
You're back in Japan! How long will you or did you stay there?
😂 This video made me laugh 😊👍
The fact that you could spend money to stay a couple of hours was a huge red flag for me 😅😂
Oh my god 😂😂😂
It was hilarious
That's so cool with the book hotel in japan, now this just wants me to go to japan even more
But I'm stuck on writing block and I'm not sure how to get out of it, any suggestions or help would be great if you see this comment,
Hope you had a great time in japan!
It was a hostile, hostil ❤😂
that's such a good short story title 👀
Every flat I have lived in I have had to hear sex arguments snoring loud music and general drunkenness. I will never live in a flat again let alone a pod. I loved the idea right up until now. Thanks. 😂
Hi! Planning to book this capsule hotel, I just like to ask does it get hot inside the cabin when the curtain is closed because I don't see any AC ventilation inside. Thank you!
I was there in May, and it was fine. I was on a top bunk, so the roof was entirely open. That being said, you can't pick where your bunk is and if you were to stay there in the summer, yes, I think the bottom bunks would get a bit warm! Hope you have a good trip 😊
@@christy-anne-jones Thank you!
💗💗💖💖💖💖💗💗💖💖💖💖💖💖
Help, at the start of the video there is a lofi music playing in the background, what is the name of it? I've heard it before but i cant recall the name of the song.
Not Clair De Lune? That's the piano music playing at the start 😊
@@christy-anne-jones Ohh I found it thanks!!
I never been to Japan. But it is impossible for me to imagine living a place when I don't speak their language. Not to mention the way for me to earn my money for everyday living. But life is about trying something new, right? Maybe I will try a Tokyo life in the future part of my boring life.
NEVER EVER going to be on my bucket list. That is obscene. I’m not a prude either but there are limits!! Thanks for the warning 😱
Big yikes at that whole situation!!! The staff should have kicked all of those people out.
oh dear seemed like not a good place to stay...tho the place look very pretty!
A banana wrapped in plastic 😳
Thank you for being honest.🤍 The hostel looks great. Too bad someone really really enjoying their time there and being vocal about it prevented you from getting more hours of sleep. My "masochist" side wants to know about wolf spiders. 🙉🙈🥴
