- Calling it a public safety concern, a New York City Councilmember wants illegal vendors off the streets in Flushing, Queens. CBS2's Jenna DeAngelis reports on the issue that's divided a community.
Good. This makes neighborhoods look like third world countries.
Totally agree, for once l thought it was my city centre in Nairobi
Flushing first then Canal street next
@@st.elmogeorge5403 @St. Elmo George Your racism is noted. There are many street vendors that are chinese in flushing, too.
Shame on you on making it about race.
Shame!!!
@@borednow5390 that’s not racism it’s the truth. The majority are non Asian. and the idea is to keep the money in their community. Do you not think that’s what the business owners are pushing to their Congress women?
no, Flushing first then brooklyn 8 ave
Yes please, clean up all those illegal vendors in Junction Queens, Washington Heights, Harlem, Fordham etc it’s disgusting.
So take the ones away from Chinatown.
Good this isn't a third world country
Flushing downtown is a complete chaos and has become very dirty and unsafe for pedestrians because of the streets vendors.
Sounds like your shell for Big box retail
you fucking what, mate? it's been chaos for decades. as much as i detest these street vendors, they have nothing to do with the influx in traffic.
I agree. It's annoying.
I agree
It’s about time tell them to come to Washington heights, you can’t even walk on the sidewalk from all the junk their selling. It’s ridiculous 😂
You really can’t in all seriousness
This is a good start. Too many street vendors in certain areas,..it's out of control. Some communities I've seen, it's row after row of tables going down a block. Areas look super congested and dirty,..and def an eyes sore. Also, the vendors are clearly selling stolen goods or fake products / black market goods. The stores immediately in front paying rent, electricity, who are also paying taxes in general, on each sale, can't compete. Best solution; put vendors in open lots(flea markets), so they are not an eye sore, impeding the flow of walking, and not being problematic to the legal stores.
Completely agree
Lmao they cant compete? How many people you see buying stuff on the street?
you ever ask yourself why there are so many vendors? or why they are in a certain area? There should probably a more sensible approach starting with communicating with the vendors. Also accusations like calling people thieves because you think they look like it is a dangerous place to go and leads to criminalizing people that might just be trying to provide for their family when an out of date system of laws are actually to blame for creating a situation that doesn't work for anyone.
It's all over the city main thoroughfare.
FINALLY!!!!!!!! as a small business I have paid a lot for tickets for blocking the sidewalk while across the street there are illegal street vendors.. Many times i yelled at the sanitation guy, while giving me a ticket, to enforce across the street. Never knew they were powerless. Finally they can clean it up.
Ok, two sides to the story but bottom line is it's currently against the law so follow the law of the land. If the goods are so popular and it keeps people off the welfare train then why not have a flea/market area where they can all congregate to sell their wares?
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 3rd world.
It’s like mexico 😂😂😂
Get em in crown heights too!
take your city back, New York❤
Flushing Main street is a total mess because of the illegal street vendors, they are not only obstructing the sidewalk but also bus stops, elderly and handicapped person cannot get on or off the bus without risking to fall, all the illegal street vendor need to clear out ,this including the one selling homemade outdated food. Also need to control the stores that took 50% of the sidewalk to display their merchandise, All rules and regulation must be strictly applied .
Have you ever helped a "handicapped from falling or getting off?"
@@mysteriousjz yup, these vendors have no respect to the pedestrain at all
Good
Looks HORRIBLE !!
It's looking poor
A lot of landfill being sold out there
Yes yes no room to walk or do anything
Brick & Mortar Business should not have customers chased off or intercepted by third world markets camped outside their door 🤬
Get the illegal vendors off my block
Flushing, Corona, Elmhurst, Jackson Heights,
It's sad knowing ppl will undergo hardships, but we deserve better quality of life. It never should have been allowed to get this far. After Covid, a lot of ppl saw it as an option to earn income. Suddenly the streets were overtaken w/tables of cheap, overpriced, counterfeit items, & overpriced low quality covid "protection". This is overdue
But it ok for the homeless to put their tent up.
It's about time... getting worse than ever before ...
Too many people way too many.
Is this something New York really needs to do worry about it it’s so many issues that need to be fixed immediately
So you are one of them?
Street vendors bad, violent thugs good.....smh
Because thugs pay em. Vendor's don't,
Stop hating 🤡
These idiots are worried about harmless vendors trying to get by, but not all the Le-bra-james's committing all the crimes..
finally. one cannot walk
This is the stuff i would see at a flea market they have to pay for a space to sell there and it really shouldn't be sold on the streets anywhere
Sounds like you’re a shell big box retail
Code: 'we want access to licenses...' Translation: Give everyone a license without limits or requirements. Meanwhile... they want special treatment that bricks and mortar businesses don't get.
What are your grievances for B&M?
Please save flushing. These immigrants take up more then half the sidewalk
Sounds like UNG drank the Giuliani tea>.
Wow .. how vendors in Times Square anywhere on the street and subway.
Ain't she have better thing to worry about.
It’s disgusting and dangerous.
Right?
If her constituents are complaining to her about it, then she should be addressing it. And it has gotten out of hand.
Typing from your blanket selling crap?
Wasn't getting his cut !
They can get a salary job like the rest of us.
Africans
The question is it is almost impossible to get a permit to sell stuff on the street. Ask an NYC who tried and you will see.....
Good
These permit 80 percent are for the veterans whom their rent for money these permit not all of them do it but most of them 😊
rather ironic, considering this lot chased out a kebob vendor that was by the church since before puberty hit me... why give a shit now, of all times?
Build a tent city in Central Park
1:26 1:42 1:58
Lots of COVID-masked people walking on the street
A vendor actually admitted what he was doing is illegal and he should be removed? In NYC where nobody ever admit to anything?
Stop buying that garbage.
Public safety concerns? 🤣
It got way too out of hand during/after COVID. Yes the things are quite cheap but I’d much rather not have to squeeze in between a crowd just to get somewhere
Defund all politicians and all illegals
Selling looted stuff. Hahahahahahaha pure profit
You can barely walk on Junction Blvd.
What's an illegal vendor and what's no vending zone?
This should be enforced decades ago! Street is for people to walk not your business place! Do something else to make a living. If no skills, go learn!
All those items are stolen from reputable stores sold to these venders for crack wtf.
Sure. Because they ain't getting the cut. Also this affects safety. How? But guns and gand violence is. Greed and money talks.
tell NYPD they're asylum seekers and they'll leave them alone...
It is looking like third world country.
Make a vendor park . Sell cheep licenses
Yes I can't stand it I can't walk is very stressful please l
I found some good records over there back in October/November. Including a rare Sarah Vaughn test pressing.
Buying stolen merchandise are ya
Entrepreneurship is the essence of American capitalism. Shame on NYC’s tyrannical policies.
Alot of 3rd world people feel at home with the chaos of this environment because of their culture from their home country.
Make a cocaine on coca plants on the street. I love it.
Next, should set up their methlabs on the street.
It be ya own ppl tryna stop her own ppl smh
At 1:37, was that Sen. Fetterman ?
Leave these people alone and let them make some kind of living. Or if you really want to help them, then do what they did up in Harlem, and designate an area for all the vendors so neighbors and tourists know where to go to browse everything. Focus more on your outrageous crimes, and affordable rents!
Fake stuff says china 😅 they started this now they wanna sign a petition
The rats love all the food vendors.
How much money does councilwoman take from big box retail lobby. She wants people to be slaves to big corporations.
Ppl need to make money.
illegals
Life is hard in New York and it's going to get worse. To all the people who are complaining about Street vendors. They should mind their business and shut up.
FUCK street vendors. I wouldn't buy anything from them.
Don’t worry about the street vendors
Matatan.🔥🤔🔥. Ribirin HS,
Safety concerns??? Don't they have anything better to worry about. How about young men and women being killed. Shouldn't that be a higher priority for safety???? Just sayin! SMH
Put them in a flea market. How are wheelchairs, strollers and people in walkers supposed to have access to public areas when these illegals throw down a blanket and sell their crap?
street vending is fine but when its done near the subway its so annoying. Give them some kind of empty store to work in or regulate it to not be during morning rush hour
Democrat stronghold.
I'd be worried about the crime not people trying to make a living right now.
Lmao of course...
This is so sad to let this happen if they have this to deal with its notfair to yhe people that have lived there before 😢
No more vendors! Im tired of hearing its “culture” no its not our culture this is AMERICA
Need to make room for all the recent illegal immigrants to set up shop. No licenses needed. SMMFH
Especially the ones from Africa
So glad I enjoyed the City years before bail reform disaster. Good times, good memories.
What does that have to do with this story or you just really wanted to say that and feel good about yourself
Palimo who cares. You only said that so it looks like you have thoughts when you read things..
@@idkidk8278😂😂. Ok bro. Go back to bed now
No thanks ima eat some lsd
Sandra ung should work on her English and minding her business
Racism
People trying to eat lady are u going to feed them
How come it sounds like english isn’t her primary language
People are trying to survive - without stealing.
These vendors are not criminals. Go after the criminals and thugs first. What about homelessness? You rather see homelessness, rats, subway crimes? This woman is funny. Let others make their dollar to survive.
PUBLIC SAFETY CONCERN??? Really? These vendors are working for their money and family but is a safety concern when marijuana is a neuro-depressant is not a safety concern?🤦♂️
Are they paying tax.
Vito consul should remove drug dealers from the street s not honest citizens who wants to just get by and get few $ to not become homeless r die from hunger
My goodness China moved to NY I don't like theme
Yup.
Ok Karen… I live in New York I have no problem with people working. I have a problem with criminals and people doing bad things. Let’s all focus on that and then we can solve that problem.
Good
