Back in 1982, you could do what ever you wanted to. Redlines, Supa-Roo, GT, Skyway, Haro, Mongoose. We rode dirt tracks, bowls, everything. Only things I can say only difference was chrome v paint, pads v no pads, tuffs v spokes. Great days
Yes great but you could destroy a frame in a day..reliability today its in an other level man..
Great times for me too early 80s.
My bro had a Haro, I had a Mongoose, my (now) bro inlaw had a Redline, my homie had a GT One. Those were the days man.
Trash can destroyers.

"Trail" bikes also usually have more offset in the forks and a slightly slacker headtube angle as well as the longer chainstays, so they feel better going fast because the front end is more "raked out," and the back end and overall wheelbase is longer. I use my BMX basically just for cruising, or riding around bowls at the skatepark, and I do like 0 tricks, so I prefer the "trail" geometry, it feels way more stable going fast, and I'm more confident to attempt stuff.
Mellow!
This comment was immensely comforting to me- 40 y/o who just started riding, enjoy the hell out of it...but not skilled!
@@HasanibnSabah I just have fun while I try keeping fit..😎
Just bought an Eastern Traildigger to replace my aging mongoose, I have like 20 bmx bikes but I only do basic tricks and racing but I mostly use them as commuter or cruising bikes because of their small size, ease of maintenance and lightweight
Laughs in 2008 era trail set ups.
Short offset forks stupid slack headtubes standard to super long chain stays. Chain stay brakes. Some times with different seat tube angles.
My old street forks had the slackest geo. 35mm offset vs Mt old trail forks were 28 to 30mm.
I believe the wider the wheels are from each other the lower the center of gravity which makes it more stable.
Facts!
For all you kiddos that haven't any clue of where Freestyle BMX started with a small handful of people, maybe even 2, RL Osborn is one, Bob Haro is another... and this is the real deal RL Osborn...
The center of gravity depends on bb height and crank length. Longer chainstays makes it more stable going fast/straight. Also, I think their wheelbase doesn't have a difference because of the difference in headtube angle.
Thats wheelbase length not centre of gravity.
@@mikehagen3785 Thank you Mike that's killer of you to say that
That feeling that you already know why but you still watch it till the end, that's how we support. Alfgang!
🙌🏻💜
the trail bike actually has a 30t sprocket, ive seen trail dudes run 30 and up 28t would usually be a street or park thing, this is my opinion but the trail bike you showed does in fact have a 30t
I was about to say this too lol.
Trey Jones is a good example he rides everything with his bike trails park street you name it
I learn alot from y'all. Shits so sick. Looks like the coolest place ever.
Shorter frames normally have tighter rear triangles which stops the frame from moving so much, which makes for less power being lost when sprinting. Longer bikes are more stable at speed.
Back in the day as kids we were unaware of all these factors, sometimes you can get use to such things, it is a bit difficult to get a bike that is great at everything just like a snowboard, similar points mean the same in snowboarding.
But for people it is not that much of a problem.
Don’t let these facts stop you from having fun.
I love how hyped papa Vu gets for RUclips
Some older frames with breaks on the bottom can't have 25-9... Found that out the hard way.sometimes people mistake weight and geometry too,it can make 1 pound feel like 5
Race bikes are good for older dudes just to cruise around on. Super stable, ultra-light plus they can handle trails, bmx tracks and pump tracks and are ok ish for skateparks and a little street stuff.
How about a comparo with some bmx racing bikes with the Pro XL, and XXL frames. Some poelpe ride those bikes on the trails, street, and even skate parks. Bmx race bikes need love to.
Don't forget, your tire tread helps stability while in the air, too. Science, yo.
My '00 General Lee was perfect gor riding trail and street. Loved that frame
those wavy chainstays were a trip
I use to use the Aaron Ross V1 Sunday signature frame to ride street felt like limousine
Ethan bike check ✌️🔥🇵🇭
Omg so amazing 😍 answered so many questions I had👍🏻❤️
Street frame's have a 75.5 head tube angle and a short back end the trails frame's have a 74.5 headtube angle and a longer back end to be more stable in the air and going fast BUT ive seen pros ride trails on street frames and ride trails fine i think its up to the rider what ever he or she is comfortable on 👍🔥🚲💨
Excellent topic & video. Thanks guys.
Thanks my G! 🙏🏻
My "20c inch is a 1996 " Brian Foster " signature race bike. My " 22" is meant for trails, but I ride them both on street. I'm a graceful rider, and I stay away from high drops, so it's okay. I love riding light " race" bikes on the street! And it's " metal " pedals all the way! Wes Sept
Nice shirt ethan. Now i know the difference street to trail
It's always good seeing you all
I'm thinking about using my 03 Orange Giant Method as a trail bike ... Need to make some adjustments so I'm listening....
"Different strokes for different folks" What ad from Ridebmx mag said that? Might have been Bmxplus mag not sure
Learning trails on a 12.75 backend is rough. Lot of loops
Phu, stability off of lips... # 1 main reason for a low bottom bracket and long chainstay... 🤜🤛
Ethans always got the freshest shirts possible he got great taste
Ill own the wtp zodiac 2017. Its a street bike. Most of the time i ride park. And i love my twitchy bit still stable bike. For manuals is the short rear end not thath eazy. Be happy with wat You own. And use it with some respect.
Big facts!
Thanks for this knowledgeable video. It’s interesting to know the different type of BMX riding. A guy coming from the new school BMX Bikelife cruising wheelie craze. And again the hint of naughty from Phu, is subtle, comedic, and tasteful.
My main concern was the length of the top tube on the dirt bike and head tube angle.
Do they make a bike that is good for both dirt and street ?
Disc brakes on trail bikes is the wave of the future
here i still am 26yrs later riding my mongoose solution pro race frame for everything
How do u keep your crank bolt tight my keeps braking and I have to buy new spindle and screws
Great video thanks for sharing.
Our pleasure 💜
Do a special on the General Lee. Hell you can use mine in the video if you want. I have the 04 GL.
Thanks for info. Clean smart explanations.
Being a newbie here please explain why the seats on these bikes slant down in the rear.
I have been riding road bikes mostly and the seats are usually level. Thanks, love the energy of your channel.
Road bikes and mountain seats are flatter cause you’d be sitting down when just cruising and if there is a hill you gotta climb the seats angel helps with comfort to go uphill where as for BMX the seat is slanting like that for slight comfort cause you aren’t really sitting down on the seat and the angle helps a bit if you try to clamp your legs or knees on the seat for bar spins
@@elijahfriesen8111 Makes sense. Thanks
The slant is also for bails. It's so you land on top of your seat rather than catch the back edge.
hey guys I have a lifehack for you, if you wanna TRAIL bike just grab some street frames from 2006-2009 years, it will have 74,5 head and 13,75-14 chains, perfect
Can you wheelie on the trails bike? Or do you need the street frame?
Thumbnail had me like... "Dis dude is riding BMX bikes with Brian laundrie?! "
Gud day idol thanks for the explanation of both bikes trail and street bikes now i know their comparison im rey fr the Philippines thanks and more power to the epic bike shop!!!
What about dirt jumpers vs bmx.

Could you guys. Make a vid. About protective gear. Hems. Knee pads. Etc. And pleaseeeee tel every 1 to wear an helmet at least. It is not cool to wear ( not ) a helmet. BIG LOVE FOR UR SHOP AND ALFREDO
Yes! Solid idea Gino!
Hangin with the early crowd 🤘
When you're as old as I am and live on the east coast It's not early it's almost bedtime.
I ride the trl frame on the street I just like it bc the frame feels bigger to mee
I have bought the cult control in raw
Thanks man
Love my Safari frame big bike street geo
Keep these up.
Thanks man!
I was never the best trail/box jumper but riding a sub 13 rear end makes it feel pretty awkward, sometimes makes me want to grab a 13 in rear end…just don’t want to spend that kind of money for a new frame
Can I call the shop and ask him questions
I used to have a 44 tooth kink sprocket lol
most people go with
street geo it would make things easier going slow with 36h wheels.
people wont tell you
74 type geo is odd because top tube needs to be longer, 21 feels small, bars should be lower, very contrary to modern bmx harder for tricks going slow
try 74 with 30t sprocket 175 cranks
and some bonedeth 48 spoke wheels
good for gaps but heavy
Dude I love your videos. For the love of God get a boom mic. Save your voice. Stop yelling at us.
Idk I know nothing about trails bikes other than the look simular. That's why I'm here...
What’s recommended as far as handle bars go, for dirt/trails
depends on how tall you are. midschool was 8" and 8.5 was tall, but now it's anywhere from 8.5 to 10, i've even seen 11's. i think OBB big boy run's 11's, but he's like 6'5" or something really tall.
NONONONONO,,, brakes are down the bottom because the calf touches the sides of the lever if on top.
😅
Trail bikes will have a higher headset angle for stability over maneuverability.
The trl is a 30 tooth sprocket ⚙️ and a ten tooth driver
Ayyyy
I thought the TRL comes with a 30T sprocket
Is it carbon fiber like dirt?
Where could I buy a bike from them and receive it since i don’t lived close to them
33 = 10 drive train trails all day frames have longer back end and 74.5 ht
We need a tutorial on how to get stuck Hubcones off lol
What type of Cat Set 🐈 do each have ???
Where can I find maxes stem

Are those jorts foo?
No matter what trail guys always kick you out 😂
Haha true
Gt vs hutch
Top 5 trail frames out now?
I bought a trail bike on accident and I’m really sad about it I wanted a street bike
Did it say made in Taiwan 🤔
Nice
So no klunker build
Is there ever a size in between
There sure is
so a longer frame is a trail bike??
Longer dimensions, not just a longer top tube
Not necessarily, but trail riders usually prefer longer frame with longer chainstays for more high speed stability, and also other trails/dirt specific geometry.
What Etnies Ethan wear?
Phocus phocus phu come on. Tires would be thing I would change dirt to street. I want knobby on dirt and smooth on the street. But I understand it is preference
The scams are catching up! I love how Steve justified his scam. He gives away all this cash and cars, yeah Steve, you do...to your friends, partners, and inner circles. You can fool your 13 year old audience, but not adults. It's coming to an end, rookie.

Making me dizzy bro.
Brakes on the top of the street bike for grinds no🤨

@@AlfredoMancuso this may take a bit lol
Go ride a skate!
The lower brake on the trail bike doesn't make sense to me, its lower and more likely to catch mud and twigs, I'd switch the brake location. Longer wheel base makes sense on any kind of off road, more stability and that plays into higher max speed on the trail bike. I am a mtn biker so take my advice w/ a grain of salt.
Who are you?
That was a very vague question. There are 3 people in this video. Gotta be specific bub
the 3 stooges
3 drunkmans grabbing bikes from shop
You took too much man, you took too much.
