dunno if you guys still check these, but currently planning to build a duratec powered 87 nissan 300zx, and will be attempting to convert a taurus engine to be longitudinally mounted, and needing some information, my plan currently is to use a rear water pump engine, remove that water pump, get a pre 99 front water pump timing cover, and swap the oil pan and pickup tube for one from an s type or lincoln ls, this sounds like everything should bolt up and maybe seal based on what information is available, but wondering if you guys know of any obvious issues id run into with that.
been planning this for a while, and was planning on using an aj30, and might still just do that to make things easy, but i really dont *need* the vvt and duratec plus all the hypothetical rwd swap components comes out cheaper than the closest rwd aj i can find
@@motoiq well in my opinion, this engine is a direct upgrade over the vg30, aluminum block. Better bottom end, and timing chain as opposed to belt, so this is kind of my dream build, ik there's the very easy route of just using the already rwd aj with the rocketeer kit and a Miata or rx8 trans, and if that's the route I end up having to take that's fine. I know theres at least that way to accomplish this goal, but I just wanted to ask someone with actual experience building these if my longitudinal duratec idea is even hypothetically possible, bc it lowers the cost of the engine core significantly as where i live i cant find any rwd aj for under 1000 and I've found an 80k mile running duratec for 300, and I'm willing to be the Guinea pig for testing this. I fully understand that it's Ill advised, and I'll have nobody to blame but myself if I do this anyway and it explodes. But if it doesn't. I'll be willing to share everything I learned and did to maybe find more applications for these underrated engines.
I do want to ask though if you know the best place to find diagrams for the coolant passages and the differences between the front and rear water pump setups, or if i should just shell out for a taurus haynes manual. Either way thanks for your time I appreciate you even replying.
The big problems are a lack of parts support on the aftermarket side, especially in the valvetrain, most stuff that was made has been discontinued so that means custom parts, and the worst problem, the OEM parts are drying up for these engines as well. A VG30DETT is probably a better drop in choice or a more contemporary motor like a VQ35HR or even an LS.
@@motoiq No it has a transponder key security module, never will I EVER build a car with one of those again. It looks like I might be able to use a 96 Contour 2.5 V6 ECM and its wiring harness. it has no chip key those started in 97, and the 95 isn't odbii. But I don't know if all the sensors are compatible with the jag.
The other thing is OEM parts support of the Duratecs is becoming iffy. Every one we build we have issues finding the needed OEM parts. Like I said in the last post, LS is a good choice and is more compact for swaps except its a little longer. A small block Chevy is even more compact.

Now I'm not here trying to be a troll and throw around negative comments because I feel misled, however I am here to be a viewer with a sizable interest in these such things and could potentially be a viewer and my opinion is as was stated. That opinion again with more descriptors, this video through its title had me believe I was going to view a build of a duratec being turbo'ed and all I found was what I viewed as a shop advertisement disguised as an engine review video. Now I very likely represent a very small number of the status quo but there are some like me who may also be turned off after watching this video having gone into it the same as I had.
Have you guys built any 1,000hp+ Coyote V8’s?
No 550 NA ones.
Why not contact you? Not everyone needs Noble\Rossion parts.
Some of us want to slap these in our Ford Contours. LOL
Watch this and think “man this raiden place sounds cool” then find out they’re literally a few miles down the road from me. What are the odds?!
Where?

What ECM options do I have to swap in a Jaguar 3.0 into my Willys? I planned to build my own, but I want this thing running asap. thanks for any help.
Probably the stock one
@@motoiq No it has a transponder key security module, never will I EVER build a car with one of those again.
It looks like I might be able to use a 96 Contour 2.5 V6 ECM and its wiring harness. it has no chip key those started in 97, and the 95 isn't odbii. But I don't know if all the sensors are compatible with the jag.
I mean why ask me? I discourage weird projects. I would say use a more normal engine like an LS that has many universal wire harness and ECU options.
The other thing is OEM parts support of the Duratecs is becoming iffy. Every one we build we have issues finding the needed OEM parts. Like I said in the last post, LS is a good choice and is more compact for swaps except its a little longer. A small block Chevy is even more compact.
If the EJ is the most overrated engine. This might be the most underrated
can you guys build a 3.8 L 2000 mustang engine for me? how do I get pricing?
You can build anything but since there isnt much aftermarket support for that engine, it mean more custom parts and more cost and longer lead times.
Can anyone enlighten me on the rwd transmission options available for a duratec?
In the UK the Jaguar S-Type 3.0 came with a manual, I think it was a Getrag box
hi grate video i have a v6 2.5 port bore 3.0 i wana make viturbo i folow you proyec
Is this the Vulcan V6 or is this a different motor
Not even close, the Vulcan is an old school pushrod iron block Taurus motor.
How much for a motor rebuild?
I got 1
Any relationship to 2018 ford f150 3.3 na.
I can't find shit on this engine.
No its a different motor.
How much to get 425 hp
I've never saw a 2 piece block before
Whats a duratec offer that an ecoboost doesnt?
raw v6 power naturally aspirated grawl
It doesn't have garbage cam phasers like the eco
too bad you guys don't do a 2.5 or 2.3 duratec
This video should be titled, "advertisement for Raiden Performance" and not "how to build a turbo Duratec motor...yes I skipped some parts of the video which I won't be faulted on as from the get go I was not viewing what I felt should have been expected. Really I am at this point just offering feedback to the makers of this channel as someone who will forever be turned off by what ever I just watched and I'll never had become a customer but now il never be a subscriber because well there are too many channels out there to be running around picking that which "sometimes" offer me interesting content. I just think you wasted my time...I hope you took the time to read all the way through my comment and I hope I wasted at least a few minutes of your day. :) So maybe I was a small bit of a troll 😂.
if you think our content is a waste, then don't look at it. Too bad for you, you could learn a lot.
I'd really like to see what you could do with a peugeot xu9j4 or esj4
We don't have those cars in our market, unfortunately.
@@motoiq keep an eye in your junk yards for a Peugeot 405 mi16. You got those. Could be an interesting project
Alot of horsepower but what about a much better breaking system...
Hopefully it won't break.
@@motoiq an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by an external force
Newton's 1st Law
So you need a good braking system to make sure it doesnt break!
@@motoiq my mistake "Braking vs Breaking" thanks ( swipe text, didn't notice)
Mazda
Such a POS motor with oil issues. But nice to see there was things that could be done to it. Ford Fusion SEL 3.0 worst car I ever did own.
Are you but hurt mate?
@@usb7018 Never lol. I had it for free. Wasn't the car for me anyways. Slow, didn't handle well, interior didn't feel the best to me. It had good audio, did very good in snow with AWD and snow tires, and only made me late to work twice cause it broke without me interfering with it. Besides that its a car for someone else that just needs a car. Not something I would ever think of getting.
VULCAN best V6
Ford copying the Buick v6
What make ls motor is ls fest car event that have car event and the support for ls swap is huge why is take long while for other cars motor take a while have same as ls fest I went ford or Mazda v6 fest car meet
There's a couple of cues they borrowed from their experience with the Mazda KL series V6 of the 2nd generation Probe GT. Except the Duratec sounds like shit compared to a KLDE or KLZE.
From what I understand is Cosworth helped design this engine.
@@motoiq they definitely share some similarities like the split crankcase setup.
@@motoiq Cosworth worked the heads, engine was a porsche design bought by FORD.
Except the Duratec makes power and the KL doesn’t...
@@johnherbold6539 KL's make 200hp. What's a 2.5 Duratec rated at?
