Oh my dog!!! This can't be... just... I'm speechless... I... because I can resonate with everybody else here. It took me almost 30 years to find this! Is that actually David Gilmour? I can't believe how happy I am. This movie changed my perception of life!!! Commenters below (and above), befriend me!! Feel free to prop me a message!
I feel you bro! No words better expressed this. "This is our world... the world of the electron and the switch, the beauty of the baud." And I am so glad to be part of this tribe, after all those years.
I KNEW IT!!! I'm so proud of my 12 yr old self for NEVER being satisfied because i knew something was "different" about that guitar. I would rewind the VHS just to hear it. Yeah, I was rewinding DavidFuckingGilmore. This is like one of those lost puzzle pieces of your youth for me, i can legit die a little happier now knowing I was right.
OMG this movie made me, everything that i actually love become from this movie, when i get married, My entrance song was Heaven knows, my messenger name (yes messenger) was Zero Cool so many years, all my accounts passwords are this movie aka names, man this is incredible, i JUST realized that this version was released, so many years waiting for it (28), AND, reading comments realized that so many people was in the same situation, I'm not the only one. So glad to read those comments, so glad this song is complete, so many years, man.... 😊
Praise God almighty! - I have been waiting 28 LONG fucking years to finally know the name of this tune and listen to it in it's entirety while not watching the film! Love the backing synths soooo much - those synths been in my head periodically literally since 1995 when I was ten years old. Holy shit....
Do you understand....how long...people have waited for this?! I had to ask Guy Pratt in a Q&A if it actually was Gilmour to find if it was really him. AT LAST..AT LAST!!!!
@@Valet2 Well I could never get confirmation online, so I just flat out asked him in Glastonbury. He confirmed it was, happy to report my vinyl is in the process of delivery =)
Thanks for this. Loved this film like many comments, its aged a little, 28.8kbps modem....50gb is now standard! I always thought this was maybe satriani or steve stevens but chuffed to know the true origins. I used some of this soundtravk for teachinv spin classes. Brings back loads of memories
I can remember watching the end credits of Hackers squinty-eyed, straining to read what song this was (20some years ago, before Google & Shazam) and could only get the song title and not the artist. So happy it’s here now!!!
Hackers has been my favorite movie since I was 11. I saw it when it first came out. This song is the holy grail of soundtrack songs. I've had the rip of the one that is at the end of the movie on my phone for years. This honestly is a dream come true to find this.
I would've loved a whole Pink Floyd album in this style... Electronic & techno sounds, Gilmour & Wright solos, collaborations with The Orb... If only !
20 Effing Years, I'm sorry, but I don't know how may IT admins have played this when they're about to drop a segment....this was one great track...the movie was trash but this was a goodie... first time I'll buy something that's that good, I hope they release it in FLAC...either that or I'll rip it on vinyl....
I don't understand the logic of the people who put together soundtracks in the 90's (and even today still) where they think "Alright, the customer has seen the movie and wants the music from it on an album.... Let's give them half the songs from the movie, some garbage inspired from it, and slap voice lines from the movie on top of everything! Perfect!" You don't know how long I've had a crummy sub-128kbps version of "The Worm" and "Grand Central Dispatch" on my iTunes -_-
Haha man I've seen this movie plenty of times and never realized it was Gilmour on this, I should've known. Hackers was kinda far fetched, but still a great movie and brings me back to the 90's. Hey why isn't Phantom Phreak in the picture with all the other hackers, he was one of the main characters.
One thing I never liked about the promotional material is that they never the Phantom Phreak kid (ie the Hispanic kid, Renoly Santiago). That dude was a great actor and deserved better. He had as important a role in the movie as Joey.
Just know this its a weird coincedence that I wanted to watch this movie for a while which I normally do once or twice a year for some reason and this time I decided to look up the track names and found out this great news.
The Dark Side of Hackers = David Gilmore from Pink Floyd soloing out the coolest song no one could find till now. So glad this is out now but Shazam needs to pick up its game, still had to do some digging to find this.
Cant wait! Were going to be doing a 25th anniversary event (remotely) for fans to watch the film and to interact with some VIPs. Everyone should get this Exclusive Set!
Will this disc have the full track, not this shorter 3:06 edit where it ends with a fade out?? EDIT: I compared this version with the movie version and this one is missing some 15 seconds at the end, right after the fade out there should be those 3 strong guitar riffs (after that the movie version is just looped over before it fades out too).
only way to buy the 25th anniversary vinyl is to ask your local record store to order you a copy since it is a RSD (Record Store Day) Exclusive Release to just 3500 copies.
@@PowerGlove79 You can order the CD, but not the Vinyl. I placed an order since it's supposed to be out in September. Sucks it got pushed back, but I've asked them to order it. Hopefully, they will. They said they can't do anything until September...

So many years of having to listen to the clipped version online. Now the fans have finally been given the OG source copy. Thank you so much!!!
Wanted to hear the full version of this all my life. Like 20 years of more. Fucking hell I don't know what to say!
saaaaaame, I just bought two copies of the 2-CD set from amazon, one to listen to and one to never open
Well it seems that i was not the only crazy one

It takes much less time if you go to imdb and lookup the movie there.
I’m so excited they’re finally releasing this

Richard Wright played on this??
@@BrianCarnevaleB26 I have to be honest I don't think he did, this is Guy Pratt on bass and mix, and Gilmour probably on Red Strat.
This was my favorite song in the movie but I was always pissed it wasnt on any of the soundtracks

gosh I was looking for this! epic movie, not the technical accuracy but its vibe, and definitely its music.

That's what led me here I googled hackers guitar music

The Division Bell is such an album.
Guy Pratt worked on the electronic aspects of that album.
waiting years for this, the absolute soundtrack the central song, amazing!
just gettin' goosebumps everytime i hear it...
This is so fantastic. Can't believe we're finally getting it all.
I can never tire of this collection

*Sounds like it would have been a perfect fit to have added Pratt as a full member of PF.
i want the soundtrack on vinyl so bad!
same, been waiting decades for this.

This sounds like the Pink Floyd version of Tangerine Dream.
