And, altough released in 2022 (widely distributed in 2023), Trenque Lauquen from Laura Citarella. All of Us Strangers and Zone of Interest also up there.
Deeply appreciate your eclectic list with both high and low brow films. Another point: Out of all my favorite film RUclipsrs you are the ONLY one who included ANY Indian films on their top of the year list. My personal favorite of last year was Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, which did release in January of 2023.
We love Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam. Definitely more than 12th Fail or some other films in the list. But we followed a strict "one film per team member" rule and unfortunately, no one picked it as their favorite film of the year. Nonetheless, a great film and we will try to do a video essay on it in the future.
