  • The HC (or Hare Blaster Co) Diana is a brushless microflywheeler that has been making the rounds in small batches within the last six months or so, and we managed to get one from the first batch. Made with thick walls of durable nylon and an ergonomically comfortable (but aesthetically concerning) silhouette, Diana is a quiet and nimble super-stock blaster with some tricks up its sleeve. Let's check it out!

    The initial "delay" in a brushless is because the controller doesn't know the motors rotor position in relation to the stator, and needs to "bump" it along for it to generate enough voltage in the idle coil for it to sense the position. By keeping it idle, it'll keep track of the position and you can get rid of that initial lag.

    The price point is understandable but a bit difficult to swallow. I'd be willing to pay $300 under two conditions: it's available in a brighter color scheme, and there's some kind of solution to the heatsink issue, which I've heard multiple users talk about. It's a great blaster, but for that price point it should be nigh perfect out of the box.

    • @senorali
      @senorali 10 месяцев назад +2

      @David_Randall8108 People are saying that it gets hot enough to actually affect gameplay. Like, you actually need to holster it for a bit to let it cool down. I've heard this from multiple sources, most recently XFox, and that's a bit concerning in terms of both longevity and comfort. I'm sure the community will come up with a solution, or the spec we receive might have some changes to address it. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

      @@egg_timerhaving both blasters as well as both versions of the nightingale, I can tell you that they are night and day. You guys markup is too high. These go for $120, why do you feel the need to more than double the price?

      $300 is a low-ball estimate for the Diana, and includes international freight and import duties. We haven't yet negotiated with HC, and we don't know if we can even get it at that price.

    Way too realistic looking to be useful for anything but indoor play with a small group. I wish these companies would start designing blasters with a more sci-fi aesthetic, like a Star Trek phaser.

      I think it's just an inherent problem with sidearm blasters that are designed to be compact and holsterable, you can't really get away from the real-steel shape since handguns are generally shaped the way they are for their holsterablility and compactness. I think the Nightingale is an example of a blaster that pushes as far away from a real-steel silhouette as it can while still having a practical form factor, but I still see some people find it too realistic-looking in orange.
