Nerf has finally gone pro‽ | Stryfe X & Accustrike half-length dart REVIEW

- #ad Thank you to Nerf for sponsoring this video!
Nerf has long been a part of my childhood and a part of this hobby. Their N-Strike series established standards for magazines and stocks that are still common at games to this day, and Elite blasters only increased their quality, compatibility, and performance. Likewise, the N-Strike Elite Stryfe continues to be a long-standing staple in foam-flinging loadouts ten years later, and every mag-fed flywheeler since has yet to match the Stryfe without significant compromises.
Flash-forward to today, Hasbro has sponsored us to review and announce the release of Nerf Pro Stryfe X: Their first dedicated half-length blaster modeled after their best-selling flywheeler. With an included rechargeable battery, their own talon-compatible mag, and double its capacity in Accustrike half-length darts, this whole package is full of surprises, and there’s still plenty more to come. Let’s get into it!

@@outofdartshi Luke, how about using the official nerf magazines in non nerf blasters/adapters? Thanks for the awesome info!
Very exciting!
I would guess our dedicated competition Half Dart/ Rival indoor arena will be seeing lots of these being used by players.
Great video Luke!
We would love to fly you over to Michigan to play some time soon.

"We miss you Coop." Luke is classy as always. Hobby isn't quite the same, but I'm glad for anyone who moves on and up in life. Hope Coop is doing well!
Hasbro made this for coop772
@@theviper3320little late now
I'm still morning the loss of him honestly
4:22 This hit harder than the Stryfe X. Not hearing Coop's review on this and future entries is bittersweet, hope he's doing well.
literally the nerf pro line couldnt have released at a worse time. i wouldve loved to see what coop wouldve thought about it..
Nerf returns to prowess right as Coop leaves RUclips. Man.
With how much he loves the Styfe I wouldn't be surprised if he makes a one off video for this blaster. He probably won't, but I definitely would not be surprised if he did.
And it’s a stryfe too, of all the blasters to pop up, lol.
Same with dartzone releasing their own best half length pro blaster. The Omnia Pro
He probably left RUclips to join Nerf’s design team. This would make a lot of sense. 😏
Flywheel master race Bros
It's a shame Coop didn't stick it out a little bit longer. Imagine if this was his last review; this seems like his dream blaster from nerf.
I bet he has it and got to experience it
Woa, I never expected Nerf to embrace hobbyists. They definitely make a lot of money with what they put on shelves, but it only makes sense with how much competition they're getting now a days. I love that they're embracing whirlwind darts. I have good results with those when they work with blasters and personally love them.
Hey, it's Jarek! And agree; unexpected and about time
imagine if they then made a league. just don't do it how Overwatch did it.
From what I’ve heard, hasbro stocks have been suffering in general. Now obviously hobbyist nerf is a pretty small part of that, but nerf is a huge brand for them, and if kids are more interested in pro-level blasters from Dart Zone and even X-shot, that’s a big problem. This feels more like a panicked reaction, not them listening to us or the competition. They literally just recreated a modded stryfe. I fear this might be too little too late. Hopefully I’m wrong though!
Hello dragon man who got me into Turbo Overkill
The Coop callout was a class act.
This was wholly unexpected, and I couldn't be happier that Nerf is listening as well embracing the high level hobby!
they were kinda forced to...
Obvious PR statement to make them look more competent, but nerf is insisting that this was a completely internal decision and was driven by no external factors...🤨🙄
@@rickyrampage3732 Perhaps so, it's still a better result than nothing at all in my eyes (I expected Nerf to never touch half darts honestly). I think giving kudos is important when deserved, while still asking for better when necessary.
It probably took them a long time to navigate the legal framework of acknowledging a community that modifies their products, which is why they ended up saying “we didn’t do this because of any external factors. Also product production schedules are made years ahead of time in huge corporations.
It's about time!
This would have made a perfect 430 dart challenge 😂 We love you coop772❤
The shout out to Coop was as real as it gets. You have a life long subscriber and customer here. Thank you for what you’ve done for the hobby and community.

Woooo! Actually LOVE that the launch blaster is a levelled up Stryfe! I would actually happily take a pro line of Nerf redoing some classics as pro. Also super smart to sponsor this video, exciting!
imagine the Rapidstrike is next
You are right! They have the blasters. It is just do something similar. I want to see the Motoblitz.
Fingers crossed for a new Pro Stampede and Vulcan!
@@itsagundam79 bro I would throw all of my money at Hasbro so fast if they released a Pro Stampede. like ALL of it.
a pro retaliator would be great
I love how it's styled like some of the most common mods for the original stryfe, like the extended battery, flywheel cover, grip bumper, and magwell.
Figured I'd see you here😂 the feeling is mutual! It's great to finally see Hasbro take the next big step! Hope all is homie! -Bda
@@RequiemRC Haha, probably should have expected to see you too! But yeah, this is a good sign for the future.
While the play on my nostalgia works pretty well, I would've liked to see upgrades for a slimmer profile. Or at least something that is the same on both sides. The battery shape & size irks me the most. Good step forward for Nerf though!
looks like theyre closely watching the modding scene as well or some really serious fans started working on hasbro
This is truly the 2nd Golden Age of the Nerf hobby

Congratulations to OutofDarts for getting the sponsorship!
Great video I think that making the StryfeX the first Pro blaster was a very smart move by Hasbro. They definitely crushed it and made a nice product while hitting everyone in the feels
Not watching coop's review on his favorite blaster hits me in the feels.
I can’t wait to see what they bring next!! I really hope a Rapidstrike, Retaliator and Alpha Trooper version of these come out!
Pump action pro RetaliatorX hitting 150 fps would be awesome. They should have a twist off end cap on the buffer tube to have quick change main springs.
Honestly, they always had some pretty beautiful designs out there, I'm happy they might be on par in terms of Performance now!
@@MRWATSiT2YA37 that would be sick!
@@laurencebarnes5361 definitely. I’m 100% sure there’s still going to be performance mods out there for it, but it’s nice to see a new high performance line going (hopefully) with some classic blasters. And I’m definitely picking this pro stryfe up sometime.
The retaliator would not work that well in my opinion. The whole gimmick was it being able to turn into 'multiple' blasters. Competitive players won't care about the added attachments, so then you would have an ergonomically inferior alpha trooper. The rapidstrike and alpha trooper would be cool but I would much prefer they design new blasters.
The Nerf AccuStryfe. Let’s. Go.
NNN you HAVE you get your hands on this bro 😮

This is a game-changer for Nerf and the hobby both and they couldn't have chosen a better first offering for this line. Does this mean they actually learned something from the reaction to the first wave of elite 2.0 and ultra? hopefully this new line will be worth the wait and the heartache.
The Stryfe holds a special place in my heart, it was my first flywheel I rewired before hobby-grade motors were a thing and we were still cutting holes in the side of the shell for Blade 180 helicopter motors. Although I won't personally be using this blaster as I've moved on to brushless, I am really excited to see this come out since more competitive options being available off the shelf will make our hobby more accessible and bring in many new players!
Woo! Can't wait to try one myself and tear it down!
Excellent overview Luke and team!
One could argue the ballzooka mp150 was the first flywheel blaster. Didn’t shoot darts but it did run on flywheels.
You need to go back to Tyco Air blasters from around 4-5 years before the ballzooka, they had blaster fired darts using flywheels. In 1993
@@oukie666 well you’re going to need to specify the blaster or it didn’t happen! lol. I figured a comment like this was coming. I should have specified “nerfs” first flywheel blaster. Which if you really want to get technical about it you could even argue that the rip chord or ripsaw were actually their first flywheel blasters back in 98 and 95 but those were operated with a chord as opposed to a battery so I guess it depends on how technical you want to get about things.
While on the subject of non-nerf flywheelers, I remember a track and launcher for hot wheels cars, or possibly Matchbox, that had -suggestions- warnings not to fire at people. That was late 80s iirc.
@@itsagundam79 lol well that one is getting away from foam flinging entirely. But yes those were definitely a thing. I had a set that had 4 tracks that crossed each other and 4 flywheels in between those. You’d make it into a circuit and it would just keep propelling the cars around until you got bored or they eventually crashed into each other.
Edit: this set was made a little later in 93 to be fair. Criss cross crash set. apparently it was 5 flywheels and they still produce a version to this day.
@@pastiesandagstring I'm just curious what the oldest flywheel mechanism was and it's use, whether industrial or entertainment or military applications? 🤔 Automatic pitching machines for baseball are a flywheel mech, aren't they? I'm gonna Google when they were invented!
Hopefully Nerf doesn’t forget the Mega XL line going forward
They can drop all of ultra and most of elite 2.0 first.
@@QueldonusThe recent Elite 2.0 blasters have been pretty damn good for stock class battles.
@@muertolamentoMotoblitz, double punch, stormcharger and trailblazer are incredible
the lack of a barrel lug is weird since I don't see why half lengths would have any more trouble getting out than a normal length. Still, really cool blaster!
I swear, it looks so much like a community high performance mod, I didn't even realize it was official until a few minutes in.
I think Accupros is a good nickname for the half length accustrike darts.
I would've loved to hear Coop's opinion on this before he left, but it's about time for Hasbro to go in this direction. After all, it felt like they failed with the other different dart types, and tried to go in a different direction, and even refused to acknowledge half darts.
The Batteries are the best part of the gelfire system. Excited to see sealed batteries (not hobby packs) enter the space. One cracked LIPO and you'll want a sealed/ shielded battery for life. Thanks the info @outofdarts and Nerf!
I killed a battery because I didn't hit the buttons on the charger right. That was fun. No muss no fuss here
@@RiverWilliamson 100% USB built-in charging is so much better
Love the "No N-Strike barrel lug," shout out to Coop. ❤
OMFG !!!!! The glorious return of the Stryfe! Too bad Coop wasn't around to see this!
Yessss, sirrrrrrrrr!
Amazon lists it at $119.00. That's $30.00 more than the Dart Zone Omnia which also hits around 150 fps and has select fire from single to 3 round burst to fully auto. I know what I'm going to choose. 😊
Not to mention the Omnia includes two mags
Gotta keep the lipo in mind, though. I'm just happy to see Nerf's (hopefully) back on their game!
Dart Zone will always be number 1 for me though :)
Edit: Just remembered the Omnia also has a rechargeable, so yeah, it's probably a better pick. I'd like to get my hands on both, though...
What I’m asking for (if Nerf wants to continue) are just good, well designed blasters that take advantage of the half length darts to get things like mag-in-grip pistol blasters or even more goofy designs like something with a P90 or conquest-type magazine.
When he says “there is no n strike barrel lug, we miss you coop” damn it hits me, good video btw
Not mentioned in the video itself (maybe for legal reasons?) apart from 'very familiar magwell' (wink wink) but it is mentioned in the footnotes and is a biggie: The magwell is Talon-compatible, which is such a biggie and it would have been so easy for Nerf to go proprietary on that...
Consider my gobs to be smacked. I was expecting proprietary darts AND mag, instead we get $10 for 2 talon-compatible mags?!!
@@Galaxy613never would've imagined nerf mags are a good viable option, but they might become just that and it's the smart way of Nerf doing this
I can see this bringing new people into the hobby, especially when they can go straight to a game with an off the shelf option and not have to mod ( which I feel turns a lot of people away)
The nerf branding is a big deal I agree but off the shelf flywheel isn't completely new, and mk3 and more recently the omnia both from dart zone have been great options, especially with the omnia being fairly more affordable.
Great Video Luke! Good to see the mothership finally getting behind the hobby! I think the battery will be a huge game-changer as we move forward. Looking forward to seeing the internals and mod potential.
4:22 amazing tribute
Nerf is definitely a bit late to the game with short darts but this is one hell of a way to start
I would love to see future pro blasters to continue the "upgrading" of old blasters
I personally want to see ether a rampage, or a heavally reworked deploy
With the omnia pro with select fire just released for $89 i think hasbro is gonna need to adjust that price.
Definitely. The Omnia I'd everything I've ever wanted from a Nerf blaster
I have watched you for years but haven’t watched your videos in a while. Glad to see you are still making the same, great quality videos!
Wow, very Cool, great preview/review Luc !
So Glad the People at Hasbro shared it with you !!!
I'm gonna go out on the limb and say the Omnia Pro is a much better value for the price. It also has actual picatinny rails.
That being said, I'll definitely be checking out the refill darts. Those look very promising.
Also, seeing as they're revamping old blasters, give us a Pro version of the Stampede! ;)
an official, mass produced aeb would be a game changer for the hobby!!
2 counter points
1: Simpler battery set up, which also is far easier to swap
2: Build quality/consistency in performance and size
It firmly makes Omnia the budget version of this, which sets it apart
I would buy the omnia any day over this for the price sure and the better (imho) looks and select fire.
The nerf battery seems like the real game changer and I can't comment on build quality.
I just can't belive that nerf are so late to the pro game and don't put out an absolute 10/10 blaster. It baffles me that they didn't go for picatini or the flared magwell. The mag release also just seems like a compromise.
I'm assuming its for financial reason. I suspect there is a dedicated, built for half length from scratch blaster coming somewhere in the future.
They just seem to have lost a lot of trust in hobby space and I sort of hope nostalgia for the stryfe won't make the hobby forget nor forgive the slap in the face that was elite 2.0
@@S1erra107the build quality is the same , and the battery is barely easier , plus the omnia has select fire options which this doesn't , the performance is the same , overall the omnia is the better value , not a budget option 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@S1erra107 budget version? The omnia runs on Li-ion which is more stable and has select fire and full auto. May be unfair to even put the stryfe up against the omnia.
Thanks for the video! I’m curious how these wide dart heads will impact performance in a springer. My guess is they are probably only compatible with flywheel blaster which makes these darts useless in my opinion, so it’s possible that they’ll need a new design if they ever release a springer. Other than that the blaster seems really solid. The price point is way too high though. The 89.99$ Dart zone omnia pro with select fire and picatinny rails is probably a way better deal. This is still a good (and unexpected) start from hasbro!
i am loving this foam flinging hobby so much. these companies have been seeing youtubers modify stock blasters for so long, they've finally decided to manufacture "modified blasters". its crazy.
Awesome! Thank you for the review!
I mean, this is amazing. Finally, they’ve done something with a stryfe once again. I just wish it wasn’t that much. I thought the huge plus with a stryfe back when it was first released is that it was cheap and effective. But I guess it would make more sense for it to be that much due to the upgraded technology in it.
I’m guessing this is the beginning of the Nerf pro X line I mean, whatever they’re going to make in the future is going to look pretty awesome
Wow. It finally happened. They even brought back the Accustrike darts!!!
This changes everything! This is crazy!
4:23 "WE MISS YOU, COOP"

I am a little mixed on this NEWS. 1. I am happy that Nerf/Hasbro is finally taking their first step into the competitive and pro-performance dart-blasting space. 2. I can’t help but kinda see this as “Me Too Cash Grab” kind entry. Dart Zone entered this space in 2019 and worker was in it even longer. However, that is just my opinion.
Love the content and looking forward to your future projects!
I'm definitely agree. Especially since they are charging $120
High performance Flywheelers are pretty expensive though, even with other brands. Also consider that this has a battery in the package.
@@laurencebarnes5361 True. But it's still upsetting how expensive this is for what is essentially a modified Stryfe. Especially with the Max Omni Pro that just released for $80
Keep in mind they’re entering a hobby space created by people who messed with their designs in the first place, pulling apart Stryfes and adding heavier springs to Retaliators.
@@brickosaurus2276 we'll need to see how the price develops. At least the magazines seem to be a fair offer, so that's a plus
Thanks for the video. Always enjoy your content
This has to be one of the absolute best things to come to the Nerf hobby.
This shows how Hasbro is actually listening to their community, especially the enthusiasts. This new stryfe actually has a very neat and clean design!
Thank you Nerf!!!
It would be cool if they made pro versions for other blasters like the barricade or stampede.
I never thought I would see the day. This marks a change at the mothership in regards to our tiny hobby. I'd be interested in more info about the new darts. Looking forward to the release and where this "Nerf Pro" line goes, come on springer master race don't let me down!
Been doin this with custom mags and pencil parts glued onto the end of the pusher for years, but nice w glad to see y’all get something after like 5 years.
Wow, very cool! Nice that they let you have a copy to review as well, I think you did a great job!
It's definitely nice seeing Nerf finally get into the Pro ring and while I hope part of the intent with the Stryfe, other than the history and popularity, was that it will still be compatible body kits and other components that the community has been using for years, but can't help but think it was simply the cheapest way to do so. Pricing is a bit of a bummer when you consider that the Perses also had a rechargeable battery for $100. What's next for the Pro line will likely get worse in price but maybe we will at least get a Rapidstrike that performs amazing out of the box.
Very nice to see Nerf finally entering the Hobby Grade space with something to rival their competitors, and that pays homage to the community.
its very encouraging to see Nerf doing this. So happy with this release
Great review as always.
I think Hasbro launching pro with the sryfre was a good move on their part, its a very common and adored blaster by the community, alot of people want to make a normal styrfe do this so for it to be this powerful off the shelf is amazing...but $120?? Damn
120 dollars ain’t exactly bad.
@@speeddemon5339 no but wasnt the mk3 70/80 bucks? So 120 for a super stryfe seems....I can't think of the right word but redundant comes to mind.
@ferrariformulaonefan16 I think 90/100 bucks would be a bit more obtainable that way it's closer to the mk3 in price (the other main brand flywheeler)
The new dart zone is only 89 and has select fire.
part of that is definitely the battery, because lipos arent cheap, especially with a charger.
Nerf has finally gone PRO, I never thought I would say this, thank you Hasbro for doing this, I’m ecstatic for this release, thanks Luke for showing it off for us!
The future of blasting is now! This is a must have product for a pro athlete, I just pre-ordered. Can’t wait to get it one. Nerf pro stryfe X here we go.
Big points for Interrobang usage
Did not see this coming. The price is a ouch for me.
I'm genuinely surprised that NERF decided to embrace the greater market in this way. And in such a fashion. The price point is solid for what it is, as well as the feature set. Really impressive. I haven't bought a NERF product in years. That's about to change.
AWESOME!! THANKS
Great, thorough review. Thanks Luke. I preordered on Amazon.
Ok... I ain't really attracted to newer Flywheel blaster because, the Stryfe was always the best platform. This one is kind of Calling me. I was kind of hopping for a Springer blaster, but at least I was right on the Short Accustrike Darts XD. Really intrigued what they'll bring next
A question that I don't think was addressed in the video: Does the Stryfe X's mag well work with Talons, DZPs, etc, and can other half length dart blasters take Nerf Pro mags?
yes
Hasbro warns on the package to use only official Nerf Pro darts and not to modify the darts or blaster. However, I was able to utilize non-Hasbro-manufactured magazines in the blaster, and Hasbro-manufactured magazines in some other half-length blasters.
Excellent. It will be interesting to see what Drac and the other DZ humps come up with to slag this blaster with. Nice work OOD!
I started Nerfing again about two months ago after about 30 years 😂 I came back to a whole ton of amazing products. Now this too from NERF itself. What a time to be alive!
Holy crap, just saw the price tag 😂
I think taking hobby geometries and making them official Hasbro was a good move. We know what works, therefore it’ll sell
I like the blaster. The lipo with the safety features is huge. The risks are the thing that have kept me from switching to them since I’m not an active nerfer. The only thing that I don’t like is that it’s exclusively short dart and the lack of an n strike barrel lug. Would have been nice to have the option to use long darts and be able to put attachments like the chronobarrel on there. Overall though it’s a great blaster for someone who wants solid performance right out of the box and would like a safer battery option.
Make the switch to short darts. Mod your favorites to take shorts, and you’ll never want to go back
@@Queldonus springers I’m more much more inclined with this thought. As short darts are pretty much always better. Flywheels you get varied results and I just like things modular really. Perhaps you’re somewhere with younger folks or long darts are just the game choice. I just like having the option to use either.
This is exactly the reason I never switched to LiPos. I didn't play enough to warrant it and now I'm on an extended hiatus, but between this blaster and the new Dart Zone hammer pistol, I might end that hiatus
I smiled the whole time i watched this. love the battery so much lol
Man, coop would haved LOVED this
Looks like it’s time to get back into the hobby…
Gah that Hasbro price though.
Hey luke on the next stryfe x video can you check to see if the magazines are cross compatible with other brands and blasters? If they are it would be very nice option for people to pick up half dart mags
My guess is he wasn’t allowed to mention competitors but he did say the geometry would look familiar. I’d be honestly shocked if it wasn’t Talon-compatible.

I am really excited to see what other pro blaster concepts they come up with. This is the most exciting thing they’ve done in a really long time.
I suspected they were going to start doing this after launching the gel gun lineup. Competition dart blasting is a fairly lucrative hobby, and Nerf should be ashamed for not tapping into the heart of the hobby sooner.
