  • Jeff and Sarah Walton have faced a series of crises that have severely impacted their marriage and family. Their firstborn son developed a mysterious neurological disorder that has resulted in dangerous personality shifts. Sarah has struggled with a degenerative injury to her ankle, leaving her immobile at times. Sarah and the kids had a myriad of aches and pains that were eventually diagnosed as Lyme disease. And Jeff’s demanding 24/7 job was creating too much stress and feelings of abandonment for Sarah. When Jeff quit the job for his family’s sake, they lost half of their income. Since then he’s struggled with on/off unemployment, which has added to their financial stress. The Waltons compare their journey to the Old Testament book of Job, outlining key passages about staying faithful to God despite unexplained suffering. They also encourage couples to turn their woes over to God, rather than blame each other. To find hope even in grieving, knowing that God always cares. And the importance of waiting upon the Lord.

Wonderful message! Thank you for sharing your testimony of relying on and turning to Christ through the storms of marriage. Takeaways, stop relying on our spouse for comfort and Christ walks with us in our individual suffering and trials so He is the one that can relate to and heal us. Loved watching this and wish you two and your family the best moving forward in Christ. 💕

Storms of life are just there, we live in a fallen world. Building that house on the rock is imperative. Understanding comes by living out those Words. "Faith Days", patience- long suffering, self control- perseverance" all of these fruits are developed in these testing storms of life. Prayer, Pressing on to know the God of the Word by seeking Him in His Word. Learning the ins and outs of our partners nature and how to best pull together. That's what Love is all about.
Thanks for sharing real life marriages. 👍🤔😐

Thank You Jim for sharing the tough balance of work and family
Could see and hear and feel Jeff sadness of his past decisions
She and I are both self-employed
    Five hours apart
At this point, for last several years ... the road does not go both ways, the phone calls don't go both ways, the texting does not go both ways
She says I need to fix my "dysfunctions " or we need to divorce
At this point, honestly ... I have done most of the traveling since we met 9 years ago
Not sure how it will end
    Told her I didn't want a divorce
When she came up to my place to meet with the pastor and his wife along with me
She never even came to my place
She went to stay with an old girlfriend and co worker from a previous job she held in my area😢😢😢

This young couple seems so sad and so serious. I hope they are getting help from older members of their family. I appreciate that FOF has a lot of couples on talking about their relationships but none of them talk about how their 'family' goes beyond the nuclear family. I've never heard them talk about help from parents, adult siblings, cousins, grandparents, etc. It's as if y'all think that 'family' only means wife-husband-children. It's not the two of you against the world - you have many other people in your family.
