How you pray is how you believe. 60's Mass forgets the grandeur and majesty of God and fear of the Lord we should have. Thank you Father, prayers from a CSP member.
Transported me back to the times (1950's) when I was an altar boy and assisted the priest right from the moment he donned the vestments till the Mass was over. Absolutely nostalgic.
Thank you! I love this! The Holy Mass is so beautiful! This video brought tears to my eyes and consolation to my heart! Thank you, Fr. Goodwin! I don't know who you are, but I very much appreciate what you have done here! GOD bless you in all your endeavors! May the LORD preserve you in your most Sacred Ministry of Priesthood! May Saint Mary, Our beloved Mother, Saint Joseph, St. Michael, and all the saints pray for you and keep guard over you so that you may never fall from your high calling!
Leonardo's Truth. Yes, Austere because it is Roman, Lapidary, too, as chiseled in marble. The Roman's crucified Our Lord and God put Peter and Paul in Rome. Rome was conquered by Holy Mother Church / the Church Militant in this realm. God then gave us the Roman rite.
@Leonardo's Truth the Traditional Latin Mass is for and of our Lord, while the N.O Mass is for man( mankind). N.O was protestantized and doesn't give our Lord the reverence he deserves. If Vatican II wanted the Mass said in the vernacular why not say and do as the TLM is done? Why change it so much, if it wasn't made to water down the True Mass by making changes to attract Protestants and other groups? I'm still learning about all this myself and I was baptized in a N.O Parish, one that was stripped of everything, I thought all Catholic Churches were like that Until I visited a TLM. Anyways these are only my thoughts and I may be wrong, like I said I'm still searching.
Protestants: "Catholics don't have anything to do with the Bible." Tridentine Catholics: "But every movement we do in our liturgy is tied to scripture, like a bagillion rubrics are tied to scripture and apostolic tradition."Protestants: "I'm too lazy."
Don't worry about protestantism they don't even own the Bible. The Sacrament of baptism they stole it from us. Among the Seven Sacraments only the Baptism is practiced by them. So how could they arrived at heaven???
Protestants claim sola scriptura after they literally cut out 7 books of the Bible that didn’t agree with their new worldview 😂 I grew up Protestant and praise be to God, I found FSSP- true Catholicism.
Very helpful and informative commentary! If only all priests performed the Mass with such care and reverence. So many I've seen just race through the Mass as though they can't wait to get it over with.
This video is amazing. The commentary on the Mass is sublime. The priest’s actions, along with his altar server, serve as a testimony of the Real Presence of our Lord in the Tabernacle during Holy Mass. Today, , after the wonders of Vatican II, , 65% of Catholics don’t believe in the real presence. How terribly sad, and how terribly dangerous.
Let us pray for the FSSP as well as for the few, if any, remaining other order Priests where the TLM has not. been forbidden by the Cardinal or Bishop.
There is one thing that really bothers me after watching this video and the other videos on the traditional mass; I did not get this explanation when I was younger. This is perfection. Beautiful. Holy. Profound. An incalculable treasure. I am no longer a Catholic. But, I can not believe they sidelined this.
user-nl9ke8qz3p. I also did not learn the Holiness of the Mass when young. I left but came back. I now attend only the Latin Mass. Perhaps watching this inspired presentation is pointing you towards home.
As a former Continuing Anglican churchman, the Tridentine Mass has a lot of similarities for me to the traditional Anglo-Catholic Mass according to the 1928 BCP. The same reverence is encouraged and it reminds us that we are encountering Jesus - not mere bread and wine - in the mystery of the Eucharist. It is a beautiful and holy tradition.
This video is an absolute game changer for me. I've always loved TLM, but still feared that perhaps some of it was a little over-embellished, outdated, indulgent. Fr. Goodwin shows us that not one single part of this mass is superfluous.
I dont have latin Mass where I live How I long for it..My priests offer a reverent Novus ordo but like someone said years ago the new Mass is like a comic book & the TLM like a work of Shakespeare I know TLM is more pleasing 2 God.."True Worship " God have mercy...
An interesting consideratio...
I do not remember too much Silence in the pre-V2 Sunday Mass. The "silent" spots were filled with music. Are you, even, old enough to remember? it doesn't sounds like it.
Doesn't it depend if it's a High or Low mass? Plus you do know this is an instructional video for FSSP Priest or those who are wanting to become one, it's not an actual Mass for the public
+Stephen Hill The priests speak in Latin so often during the day through the Mass, the Divine Office, Lectio Dinvina etc. Speaking Latin is as natural to the priest as speaking English. I am a server at the Mass, one speaks in Latin the same speed as the Priest, it becomes natural!
Stephen Hill after a while, the flow doesn’t seem so fast use the missal and practice (and much patience with the foreign structure of Latin grammar... apart from vernacular language) really pays off in the mastery of the language aspect of the Mass propers
Very enlightening video. Thank you. I do not understand why it has to be in latin, would it not be even more beautiful, and give even more glory to God if spoken so that his people can understand? God himself, of course, understands all tongues. Furthermore it seems to me that the wine should be given to all. Especially since it is not given only out of convenience.
I believe silence is necessary but too much silence I find it's distracting your mind wanders to other things and it's not focused on the Mass I wish the traditional Mass did away with a few things, a few lest gestures, get rid of the Beretta the consecration should be said out loud placing the missile for one side to the the altar to other! The novus Auto is just a sacred it is simplified and yet dignified except of the Eucharistic ministers Eucharistic ministers should be used if there's churches packed other than that only depression distribute holy Communion we should receive only communion only on the tongue and at the communion rail many of the communion rails and churches have been stripped away which the church should not have done and of course the priest should-face liturgically East towards the Tabernacle!/race moves too many times back and forth I find it very distracting why can't you stay in the same place that's what I mean too many gestures and movements which I think is very it's unnecessary some gestures and movements yes but ritual for the sake of ritual as it seems I don't understand it!
It’s TLM that brought me back to God. I pray to God we never lose it
We won´t. It is promised.
The gates of hell will never prevail.
This didn’t age well
This is so beautiful. I wish all Masses were celebrated with such love and reverence, May God bless The FSSP.
Amen to that.
...and the SSPX

May Father Goodwin's soul rest in peace.
Thank You Jesus for the Catholic Priesthood, thank you to the priest for saying Yes to Jesus. God is good.

Such excellent Catholic commentary on the Mass.
FSSP are cool. Greetings from a Greek Melkite here! :)

I saved the video for future use - it is a good instructed Mass.

Exactly how it should be for those who pray.
Praying for FSSP that the wolves in sheeps clothing will not restrict Mass where FSSP is now offering TLM..Let us pray in earnest .🙏🙏🙏

Rest in Peace Fr. Goodwin!
Beautiful! Thank you so much for giving explanation to help us understand!
This is so beautiful! I never been to a TLM mass before. Thank you for sharing.. 🙏🙏🙏

You didn't had patience for it, be honest.
You still are. Your baptism is indelible.

Yooo Fr. Pendegraft is in this
TLM FTW

What about gregorian chant?
This is a video of a low mass, it's a subdued ritual with no music, no incense, just a priest and his server
En español?
In Church language LATIN.

This is the exact same liturgy the Western Orthodox use except English is used.

Why do they speak Latin so fast?

The universal language of the Roman Catholic of the Roman Rite is LATIN.
If you only spoke English and took a trip to France and attended mass you wouldn't understand the mass in French. Now what?
