Tekken 5 & 6 gave a lot of personality and flare to their customization system hope Tekken 8 comes back to this concept!

It will all depend on budget because many issues like in T7 is due to money problems. T5, T6, TTT2 Was put a lot of effort in new system graphics and customization.

Man I love Tekken 5. The first Tekken to introduce character customizations only for Tekken 6 to perfected it. From Devil Kazuya in a suit to Super Saiyan Blue Jin. Tekken 5 is the best Tekken ever created.
It's fun to think how that game predicted the Super Saiyan Blue long ago.

Customization kinda went downhill from TTT2

Still the only pre-fight animation where the character directly interacts with their opponent.
That intro blew, and still does, blow my mind since I’ve seen it in T5DR. Although it was a bit jarring with some people, if you could pair him up right, it made for some very interesting pre-fight intros. There are very specific characters with specific intros that also depended on whether Raven went first or after his opponent that went well with it.
Even If They Enter First Than His Opponent.
These costumes bring a LOT of memories! Unlocking them felt so special! Good times and osts 🥺💙
Right. I missed how you actually had to take time playing the game to earn enough coins and buy items. Now, they hand out millions of coins like candy. At this point, they might as well get rid of the coin system and make all items available from the get go.

The era when we don't have to mod our favourite references...like, I wasn't expecting Slam Dunk and Ashita no Joe in 1 game.
Seeing these sick customizations makes me wish I played more characters in this game. I mean, *holy shit* , the creativity was insane!

95 % of the stuff seen here is just both default costumes with alternative colors and added hat + gimmicky stuff like wings that are still present and expanded in further titles.

The transition to Unreal Engine has seriously decimated the character and charm of Tekken
The fuck- who blames a game engine for the mistakes of a developer? Ue4 is one of the best and most used game engines for a reason-
@@helix5729 every ue4 game has the same clay feel to everything, and the transition meant losing a decade worth of assets from Namcos proprietary engine
@@Geferulf_TAS that's where u are wrong. The devs managed to import all the assets into the new character models and hit box without any issue. The reason for the clay feeling is because they're new to the engine and seemed to not explored further into it
A great example is escape from tarkov. That shit was made in unity!

Back when Tekken cared about giving their characters unique designs and customizations that were actually coherent with their personalities and backgrounds.
i wished they combined that with the options tekken tag 2 had, like the versatile colors, decals and customization slots
I fear that they would just hide an excellent customization system behind microtransactions .
But T7 doesn't really have any customization DLC so I think if they do make is spend $10 then you will get loads of customs

@@TheColossusAgro the video were watching is Tekken 5 and Tekken Dark Resurrection. The game came out in 2004 in the arcade and the PS2 version came out in 2005. in 2006 Namco updated Tekken 5 to Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. the update was only on Arcade, PSP, and PS3

@Ares 0160 I mean that's true, but what I meant what that TTT2 had some pretty wide customization. Long hair, ponytails, decal customization, etc. And there was even a color wheel customization, compared to having a select few colors
TTT2’s customization was underwhelming and horrid, to say the least 🤢

@@2011Transformersdotm Imo Tekken 6 and TTT2 are equally good customization wise, but for different reasons. TTT2 gave us 10 customization slots, decals and a colour palette where we could pick every possible colour. A combination of T6 and TTT2 customization would be best.

The peak of the series in terms of creative energy and passion was the 2000s. Not every "next gen" fg sequel look truly evolved, but the PS2 TKs felt greatly evolved compared to the ps1 TKs.
Even with TTT2's wonderful delivery, but that still doesn't compare to the work done in the 2000s. It's not very impressive but more like: well, that's expected for a late PS3 title.

2:44 I haven't seen this win pose. Is this only seen in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection online only? I've only played Tekken 5 (PS2) and Tekken Dark Resurrection (PSP). My dad haven't gotten a PS3 until Tekken 6 was about to be released for consoles in a few months.

He almost had all of them except Tekken 1 and Tekken 2. and we did got Tekken 6 but sadly he rented it at Blockbuster.

There are certain win poses that will only appear if you hold certain buttons during replay like Jin’s “Mishima bloodline ends here”. I believe it’s one of them
I remembered my first tekken is tekken 5 in console and tekken 6 in arcades. Tekken 6 was popular in our country and it felt insane some people can complete a costume set in tekken 6 and 6 BR.
Tekken 5's customization was inspired by Virtua Fighter 4:EVO/FT. On the other hand, Tekken 6's customization was inspired by Virtua Fighter 5
TT2 & T7 made their own unique system instead of basing it off of VF and it shows in difference

Tk 5 had a lot going on, but Tk 6 had the best customisation. After Tk 6, things aren't the same.
If you look at it customization for specific characters was done better in 5 6 had more volume of items. I perfer stuff that matched the characters or in jokes

Tekken 5 and 6 customization system was pretty basic but made up for it with a ton of awesome items to use. TTT2 system was best in the series but needed more character specific items to flesh it out. Only thing really saving T7 customization is mods.
Mods are not customizations. Which is why you are wrong, nothing is saving T7. Nothing.

Man, I need to buy a new copy of Tekken 5 for PS2. Tekken 5 was one of my favourite Tekken games to play & it's customisation was just full of creativity. Unfortunately my old copy of the game was scratched up beyond repair because it was borrowed by one of my friends other friend & he purposely scratched the disc so I couldn't play it anymore. Still mad about that though, since that copy was a present from my father. 😑
Only when I bought T7 on a whim did I realize how much time I spent playing fighting games. From T3/4/5, to playing DBZ games on my PS2, to even way longer ago playing Yu Yu Hakusho and DBZ on the mega drive. Oh the memories

I swear they better bring this back in Tekken 8 I think it's so cool to have so many different pieces and variations of things it's like you can create a new fighter while using the same moves
Tekken items were much better in the past because it was the first time it was integrated into the game. There was a newness of seeing the items posted online but then it was cool when you saw an opponent at the arcade who had a particular item or costume. You knew how hard it was to attain that item - they really had to earn it. I don't feel the same with items nowadays. It's too easy to earn items. Namco could have a nice basic set of items, then make all of the other items and outfits more expensive to attain. There needs to be rare items that are difficult to attain. PC Tekken 7 doesn't solve this problem (although it's cool seeing the costume ideas executed). I'm a PS4 player so I can't get the PC customizations. I hope this is revamped in the next Tekken.

Nah Nah for real though Tekken 5 was stupidly ahead of its time just in general Tekken 5 felt like the ultimate Tekken up onto that point , I mean for fucks sake the game had Tekken 1,2 and 3 included , something you'll never get again.
