For ID check at the entrance of the waiting hall, now face recognition facilities are applied, but not for foreingers, foreingers need to find the manual check counter. anyway, those face recognition things shorten the queue.

So much hassle, just to get on a train.
Having to collect the ticket and queuing at least half an hour. Why can't you just buy it online and print it yourself or have it on your phone? And Passport checks (for a domestic train?). All of this takes so much time and drastically reduces the benefit of high speed rail. In Europe, where I live, people prefer the train over the plane, because you can just walk into the station and enter the train. It takes just a few minutes, other than at an airport, where you have to arrive at least an hour before the flight departs. But in China you need to be there really early too, which makes me wonder why you would even take a train, if you have to go through the same hassle as for a plane. The only thing I like are the security checks and I wish we had them in European train stations too.

1.For Chinese citizens, buy the ticket online and print it at the machines in the station. Or in some stations, you can even check-in with ID card only, without a printed ticket.
2.Passport check is for ID identification.Local citizens check their ID cards. It's to ensure that your are the actual person who get on the train, and prevent a criminal/fugitive use the public transportion. This is why in some other clips, travellers think that China is safe.
3.China is vast, as vast as EU. so in some cases, you maynot think in the way you do in EU.
      4. As a local citizen, I don't need to get to the station very early. For example, I live in downtown Guanghzou, 40min to the HS Train station by subway, I usually set out from home 1:30 before train departure time. 15min will be enough for printing ticket and passing through all check-in process.

When you buy train tickets online from us or anybody else, you get a confirmation number. You need this and your passport to collect the tickets.

1:49 "网 means Internet". This is not very accurate. "网" could mean network or net. "互联网" means Internet.

Just like an airport! Airline companies not just competing against each other they're competing against Train companies. Fierce in China.... Who will win?..

You mean a SIM card? Look for an China Unicom outlet. You can buy a SIM card at the airport. If you already arrived, ask your hotel for the closest place to buy it.
For maps, download maps.me or get a VPN so that you can access everything.

What’s the reason for security check plus the in and out ticket checking? Is there a big security threat in China and do people cheat on transportation fees?
The convenience of travelling by rail in Europe is that you by tickets on line and turn up at the station just before departure.

There used to be a big problem with problem scalping. At busy times tickets on some routes are sold out in seconds. Since the tickets have the passenger's name on them and the id is checked, the problem is gone.
As far as the security check, it is a bit of a joke.
Regarding the ticket control, isn't that done everywhere. In some countries they check your ticket on the train. In China it is automated. On some trains locals do not even need paper tickets, they can swipe their id card which was used to book the ticket.
