As a medical professional. Periodically I see MDs who have no business practicing medicine do so and after reporting such ppl many times their employment remained intact. The worst thing that ever happens when something happens are they get moved to practice in another location or system by their medical group. It's incredibly sad. Same with some nurses, but at least they don't stay in the care of the same patients for long enough to cause any obvious problems. Still overall inexcusable.
If an anesthesiologist need to be supervised doing his job he shouldn't be in that position to begin with!! Legal AND healthcare system is beyond f*cked
Hi Jesse. Doctors are not hired by the surgical center or the hospitals. Doctors have to apply for privileges at surgical centers and hospitals. They go through the Credentialing and privileging process. The credentialing files are reviewed by the credentials committee and the medical executive committee and then the board. Texas medical license is verified, the NPDB is checked for malpractice claims and a criminal background check is done on each applicant.
I'm an RN and usually IV bags come in an outer bag to prevent this. I wonder if they took the outer wrapper off when they put them in the warmer. Probably never do that again. Maybe he went through the outer bag with a syringe but that would be difficult.
If theres a documentary, I would like to know his life story, how he became a doctor, where he worked, what was he like with colleagues and family, I want to know how a rich doctor became so resentful to do what he (allegedly) did.
He became a doctor for power. Anesthesiology specifically for the power since they’re so vulnerable. His track history shows he is an ego maniac who at all times needs to hold power over others. He will do anything to hold power including killing others.
As a mother living with cerebral palsy and having gone through so many surgeries and having to trust people to take care of me, this is disgusting. I hope he gets the maximum sentence. I am so disgusted by this man.
Im a nurse and we had a child come in ED who coded, I am paging the anesthesiologist to come to the code over and over and we ended up finding him dead in the on call room with a needle in his arm. This guy needs to be locked up forever. People are completely vulnerable and trusting of anesthesiologists
I'm 65. Besides a lifetime of personal experiences with incompetent medical 'professionals' and pharma products, I used to read a lot of books way back in the last century. A couple of authors helped make me become even more cynical of the powers that be. Their fictional stories were based on real life situations. Robin Cook wrote 'Coma' which was made into a movie. All his books had what real life event the story was based on. Horrific nightmare stuff 😱 Slightly off track... Dennis Wheatley wrote thrillers and of the occult during the '30s to the '60s. I read his in the mid '70s. Wrote of the evil that some people are willing to inflict on others, especially during the 2nd WW. Highly recommend them both.
Domestic assault and animal cruelty charges... yeah definitely must have been a tough call for the board to decide on whether to let the man keep practicing. Makes total sense.
Horrifying, DEATH ! Unbelievable... see last Friday I literally got an infusion and got an IV bag too so that's not cool with me at all. That's my biggest fear trying to trust people that have no interest in serving people.😢
13:53 Why wouldn't the Texas State Medical Board notify the facility where Mr Ortiz worked? Taken into account the number and nature of his suspensions of his license to practice in his field? His criminal record?
They were more worried about his ability to make a living rather than the patient's lives? What utterly ridiculous excuses for allowing this violent mess to be in the surgical rotation. Obviously, their patient's lives were of the lowest considerations, especially when it came to his and their own financial benefits being first and foremost in their minds, smh. What a sick and corrupt system we are left having to navigate alone on a daily basis.

This is crazy.
What a sicko !! I feel so bad for his victims he’s a monster
SOME medical professionals are absolutely insane. They're either mentally ill, or on drugs, or both.
Wow!!!! Just pitiful
Wondering if he interned at the Harlingen Texas hospital?..
Sick
Fantastic episode;great guest; awful case - what a failure of various legal processes that led to the circumstances of these terrible crimes.
1:06 what a psycho path . What’s his background does he come from another country at all ?
What a gross monster. And the poor dog 😞
A hospital is where you SHOULD be safe...Its scary to even go for seemingly routine surgery anymore...
That’s a demon on earth.
Horrific nightmare stuff 😱
Slightly off track...
That's my biggest fear trying to trust people that have no interest in serving people.😢
I live in Canada and was unfamiliar with Dr. Ortiz's crimes. Having just had surgery myself, the case is even more frightening and horrific.
We all know they just didn't want the hospital sued. The real number of victims will never be told.
Tampering w medicine = 150yrs
SA your two daughters = 8yrs & 10yr parole 🙃
‘Oh no I’m being held accountable for my actions- I should take it out on people that had absolutely nothing to do with it’. 🙄
13:53 Why wouldn't the Texas State Medical Board notify the facility where Mr Ortiz worked? Taken into account the number and nature of his suspensions of his license to practice in his field? His criminal record?
This is terrifying! I have a big surgery coming up. 😲
Praying for you🙏
Best of luck, i hope it goes well! 💪🏽
Bruh can't trust anyone anymore. I wonder how he injected it , without them leaking after.
a thin needle
I’m already a nervous wreck whenever I have to go to the hospital, now I’m not gonna even wanna go. You never know who these people are. Terrifying.
