Notwithstanding this horrible person, I won't do a procedure with any form of anesthesia outside of an actual hospital. At the dentist, only local numbing meds, such as Novicaine, are all I'll do outside of a hospital. Also, procedures that involve a risk of severe bleeding, such as heart cath, orthopedic surgery, gastrointestinal procedures, etc. That's just me, but I'd rather be in the same building rather than having a transport. I can't remember all of the details, but I remember that Joan Rivers was having an endoscopy procedure at a clinic and ended up dying as a result. I'd think she'd have a better chance of survival at a hospital.

I had a iv bag for dehydrated. It was bad . I was sick throwing up for a week before I went to the hospital I couldn't hold myself up. So they keep me in the hospital for the night..
She is a doctor. Just because she’s female doesn’t automatically mean she’s a nurse. IV fluids are the best way to rehydrate and she knew that. Unfortunately it cost her life.

The reason was he was under internal investigation by the hospital so he wanted other doctors to have 'complications' while they too were operating so that it appeared the hospital had problems not just him. He was trying to appear innocent at the internal investigation
Anesthesiology is the art of putting people to sleep during surgery, they also manage complex pain in patients. So yes, it is a specialty and they are Dr's just like a surgeon or rheumatologist etc.
