Ok but has this been experimentally proven is my question. I get the concept just fine, but I would like to know about the experimental support. And additionally, it seems difficult to prove in that way. Seems kind of impossible.
Slight clarification: the speed of light traveling THROUGH space in a vacuum is a constant. It is the speed of causality. However, that does not mean that space itself cannot expand faster than the speed of light.
@LA-eq4mm right. Anything that has mass is bound to the speed of light when moving through space. This makes me question the video because gravity is a force not a wave or particle with mass. If the sun's mass were to suddenly disappear then its warping of spacetime would also suddenly disappear, no?
@@Tiknaps I think I see what you’re getting as in space seems like it should instantly become flat once the sun disappears because the expansion of space doesn’t have a speed limit. However they are two different phenomenon. The sun disappearing is a causal event and it carries information. its disappearance would give information that would reach for instance earth instantly, violating causality. In contrast space expanding doesn’t convey information. It isn’t caused by a specific event so there’s no info to transmit. essentially propagation is caused by occurrences inside space while expansion is an inherent characteristic of space itself so they have different constraints
Observable universe: 93016 billon light years, 46508 in radius, light takes 46508 billon years to travel the expansion of the universe, the universe is just 13.8 billons years old. So the universe expands 3370 times faster than light.
In retrospect it makes perfect sense that gravity must travel but the idea of gravitational waves having to reach somewhere and not just being present never occurred to me
i still think its instantaneous like if the object moves 1cm, the gravitation field moves along with it 1cm, at same time, not with a delay of the speed limit, i need more confirmation
@@San-pv the object cannot possibly move faster than C and as such cannot move "away" from the gravitational field faster than the field can reach and affect it.
@@San-pv Think what you like, but you should realize you're at odds with what Einstein posited, i.e., Einstein's theory of general relativity predicts that gravitational waves travel at the speed of light in a vacuum, which is about 300 million meters per second (671 million mph). This is because the motion of a massive object distorts the curvature of spacetime, which moves outward at the speed of light. I think I'm going to have to go with Einstein.
It would be "physics" if it had anything to do with the real physical universe we actually live in. But alas, fancy videos have replace observational evidence based astrophysics.

I like that! Brain is getting exercise just thinking of that conceptually.
Light can't pass the pull of blackhole,
Ok but has this been experimentally proven is my question. I get the concept just fine, but I would like to know about the experimental support. And additionally, it seems difficult to prove in that way. Seems kind of impossible.
Bruh Phineas and Ferb were so close to getting faster than light with those boots💀💀💀
I REMEMBER THAT EPISODE OMG
So this completely negates the flash's time traveling capabilities, hmm ?
@@Lyoko42oI guess so?
This sounds more like my science class
This is honestly life changing 🤯
Slight clarification: the speed of light traveling THROUGH space in a vacuum is a constant. It is the speed of causality. However, that does not mean that space itself cannot expand faster than the speed of light.
Then why do people say that the speed of light is the fastest speed?
(yeah i understand now)
@@alimirza4608Cause its the same speed
@@alimirza4608speed of light is the fastest something can travel through space but space itself has no such constraints

@@San-pvthe existence of gravitational waves is your confirmation.
I want to ask something, if the sun is gone would we all be dead by the cosmic radiation?@@brookemcquale5096

Yep, that checks out.
kinda weird how there is an actual speed limit, it's like as if someone intended it to be like that or something

idk if that's worse or better than the light switch breaking and going on^2 and everything gets melted

Physicist Sean Carroll has a playlist here on RUclips about this sort of physics. It's called "The Biggest Ideas in the Universe" if you want to search it up 👍
He's structured the videos like his university courses, just without the homework and intensive mathematics. An attentive layman can understand them.

Its not a lession its bad at most geabuty doesnt teavel its a foece of nature it doesnt need movw fast as light its instant acording to relativity the same teories we get nothing is faster than light states geabity is foemed by warping space time so if u remove mass space time will unwarp and grvaity will just stop beong thwir instantly
