    Every experience in Morocco should be like this. Our weekend with Said and his family in Al Haouz, Morocco in the High Atlas Mountains was amazing. The Moroccan Berber culture is so genuine. The visit to the Tin Mal mosque was spectacular.
    If you are interested in participating in a Berber Home Stay like we did, you can reach Said at berberhomestay....
    Welcome to our European (and now African) Motorhome family adventure. Videos from our destinations are shared to show the glory of full-time family travel. You can also follow our travels on Instagram, and Facebook (links below).

      Thx for sharing your experience. Berber people are indeed good people: they have very strong moral values, work ethics, and great culture. Unfortunately their region has not been developed under HassanII as they were discriminated against the same way Algerian berbers were in Algeria. But I believe it has changed over the years.

      Thanks!!! The fact that you came here for a visit is a great experience in itself. Sometimes we land in places where we only work and miss out on the cultural experience, it happens, don't beat yourself up. This just means you get to come back for another visit, right? There is so much to see here, I wish we had 6 months. Glad you got to come along and explore with us virtually.

      Absolutely, need to go back. We just came back to Florida from traveling out west for 2 months and being in Europe for 4 months. Our kids learned so much. They want to live in Spain one day...at least part time near our family after they are done with college. Your kids will NEVER forget these experiences you are giving them. You have changed their future for the better. I'm so excited for your kids and what they will do with the knowledge they acquired from these travels that you have provided for them. I need to catch up on your videos...we are so behind because of the travels and my mom's passing this January. Lots has happened. We are not in St. Petersburg, FL as our home base but will keep traveling in the future from here :)

      Sorry about your mom. I hope she lived a fulfilling life.
      Congrats on your travels, they sound amazing.
      It will be interesting to see what path the kids choose in life. Frankly, as long as they are happy and good people it really does not matter to me. We want them to follow where their passions lie, but I suspect the travel will impact their choices for sure.

    You guys are way cool! You have had the real Moroccan experience. I am envious and I am Moroccan although I now live in Chicago.
    Tinmel, the mosque you visited, is the birth place of a Berber dynasty that ruled Morocco for a long time. Tinmel means "school" in berber because the founder of this dynasty was versed in the Koran and taught his disciples the "righteous way". His followers took his message to the rest of Morocco and ended up founding a dynasty known as "Al Mohads". Al Mohads means the "uniters" because they united different tribes and regions under one single nation. They are the first of just two Berber dynasties that ruled Morocco. The other dynasty are the "Al Moravids". Both of these dynasties are known in Europe because they sustained the Moors in Islamic Spain for many decades. Both dynasties eventually turned their backs on the Moors of Spain because they did not consider them to be pious enough.
    The entire area where you stayed has a very rich history although it looks backward and disconnected from any modern lives and modern conveniences.

      @@moukafaslouka4796 All good and very well said. One small precision though, Al Moravids came first, i.e. before Al Moahads.

    • @andresvaldes5568
      @andresvaldes5568 4 года назад +1

      Actually the Almoravids & Almohads were invited by the Taifa kingdoms to come to Al Andalus & help the Taifa rulers stop the Native European Catholics from taking back their land from the Muslims but instead the Almoravids & Almohads simply kept the Taifa kingdoms for themselves.
      The Almoravids did not give up on the Taifa kingdoms but rather the Almohad dynasty destroyed the Almoravids in Morocco & then the Almohads took over the former Almoravid lands in Al Andalus

    • @andresvaldes5568
      @andresvaldes5568 4 года назад +1

      The Almohads were severely defeated by
      a Christian coalition of the kingdoms of
      Castilla,Navarra,Aragon,Portugal,
      Knights of Santiago,Knights of Calatrava,
      Knights Templar,Knights Hospitaller,
      & French volunteers in the decisive battle of "Las Navas de Tolosa" in the year 1212.
      After this 1212 battle the Almohad king was seriously injured & he fled back to Morocco where he died shortly after.
      This 1212 battle was the end of muslim power in southern Spain & southern Portugal because the Christians took back all their land town by town until the late 1200s when they completed this task.
      The Nasrid kingdom of Granada was created as a vassal kingdom of Castilla after the Almohad defeat & although Granada was conquered in 1492 REAL Muslim power was gone after the 1212 Almohad defeat because Granada was just a tributary state of Castilla

    As a Morrocan and a Berber too I can tell you Moroccans are the most hospitable people , they like to have guests and know how to receive them : )

      I could not agree more. The hospitality here is top notch. It makes learning about a country and its people so much more enjoyable.
