How are you positive it was ambergris? Also a bit strange that you remember seeing a random rock looking object floating if it had no significance at the time you'd think nothing of it. It's a lot more fragile than rocks and way lighter . Think of it as solidified oil that over time in the ocean gets bleached white and dries out to a dry almost chalk and waxy like interior. They vary in hardness and scent .

Does the ambergris have a strong smell? Or is it more subtle? I found something that looks like ambergris on the beach today. It's light brown, it floats, but it doesn't really have a smell. Until I did the hot needle test ... then there was white smoke and brown liquid just like in the video. Only then I noticed any kind of smell, kind of earthy, sweet, subtle hard to describe smell. Does your ambergris give off a strong scent?
