Papier d’Arménie triple is the oldest room freshener in paper form, produced in France since 1885. Its typical scent of slightly sweet vanilla with a touch of balsam from styrax resin conjures up the orient.
😊yes. I've just googled it and it says the following: Part of Wolf & Gypsy Vintage 'New' range of products Papier D'Arménie incense paper booklet Established 1885, Papier D'Arménie is most ancient natural room deodoriser 12 pages of 36 pre-cut strips Burn or place them in wardrobes, chest of drawers or books and items will be perfumed with a subtle, delicate scent I guess it was used quite a lot among so many rooms with patients, clothing and laundry. The nuns must have a strict cleaning habits as well as perfumed areas.
I have Armenian papers made by the Farmacia de Santa Maria Novello, a very old maker of scented things. I bought them in Florence some years back and they are like incense in paper form! They smell wonderful! Interesting that they made them in France too!
So interesting, the things that must gave gone on in that place, and with your help allowing us to be part of the discoveries. Thanks Ryan and everyone that's at the convent

Simon the medal is of St Magdalene and on the other side is the Sacri Vultus - Holy Face Relic: The Sacri Vultus - Holy Face - Relic is one of a number of images that were created and actually touched to Veronica’s veil in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican. Very interesting finds and I do think those buttons were from uniforms as the Convent was a hospital at one stage. The inscriptions on the wall was very interesting thank you Moe and Ryan for the translation, I must admit it felt spooky for me too when you were in that room. Ryan and Simon I enjoyed your fresh air with the incense paper Loved it. Have a lovely day.

Because no matter how good you are at your job, you constantly have to "advertise" it! After all, YOU are the product you sell! And I have a feeling that Yannis will get a much better price than what was originally laid out for him...
Ryan! It’s important to remember that the nuns were subject to all the strengths and weaknesses that any other women have. Some became very troubled or were very troubling! The other sisters looked after one another as part of their way of life. So, if one of them became mentally disturbed, for example, the others did what they could to help the sick sister. Your wall-writer may have been one of those troubled sisters. Perhaps she was one of those people who were implicated in that poisoning plot and was forced to live in house arrest in the convent! That was done sometimes to aristocratic women rather than to put them in a common prison or to put them to death.
The time gap between l'Affaire du Poison and the convent being built is too long for this to have come directly from a prisoner. It could have come from a young maid in attendance on an elderly prisoner who then recorded this in her own dotage.
Yes you are correct. In Mexico they found buried fetuses or babies in the walls of convents or churches. Nuns suffering at the hands of soldiers or priests or having affairs. This convent seems relatively tame for its age. Only a couple of small areas give a creepy feeling - but most of it is lovely, bright and more like a working enterprise. Although I feel the Nuns were taken advantage of by someone selling them on unnecessary renovations and taking their money.
Perhaps at one time the nuns treated the mentally ill or the person(s) who wrote on the wall was given alot of pain medication, and they were hallucinating.
Simon is a natural teacher. He puts things into a clear logical form to pass them along. Yannis and us are lucky to have him pass along his knowledge and his discoveries. Thank you, Simon. I think the transcription on the wall is maybe saying that the writer thought the children were also being poisoned (like the king) by a clear, odorless substance in food or water. In the "Affair of the Poisons" they believe arsenic was used, which is clear, tasteless and odorless. Also long term exposure to arsenic can cause various types on cancer (bladder, liver and lung). Although they didn't come out and say this directly in the writings, they did sort of elude to this.
You might get a UV light to help see the writing. It sometimes helps bring out some types of dyes. They aren’t very expensive, so you wouldn’t be out much if it didn’t work.
about the writing on the wall....I did some searching. The time frame and mentions of poisons affair lead me to thing of Madame De Montespan. She did spend about seven years at that convent right after the poisons affair. She was dying. She did leave the convent after seven years to go to a family members chateau to take a cure unavailable at the convent but she died anyway within a few years. But she was at the heart of the poisons issue and lost her favor as the kings mistress over it and was sent away.
Ryan and co are doing a great job and the different approach is fun. Of course we all look forward ti Billy coming back after his hols. It must be nice to know everything is going well in his absence, and he doesn't need to worry (fingers crossed).
So far, the content of this channel while Billy on holiday is top notch, guys! 😁💙 That goes for the editing as well, Alex. Always love the beginning montage 🙏
The writings on the wall are interesting. Well done Ryan. I think they sound like the writings of someone who was somewhat disturbed. A convent could well have been somewhere where someone who was psychologically unwell could have been cared for in the past.
Simon...Prof. Mick Aston from Time Team would be proud of you 😊. You're a great stand in while Billy is gone, and the work progresses along nicely. I would subscribe if you had a channel while fixing up your farm/cottage.
A dormer with a wench reminds me of Amsterdam. The wench is used to move heavy items to upper floors. look at the windows below the dormer area that could have been doors for moving items.
I hope Simon starts filming the home he is restoring. I would subscribe in a heartbeat. I've been learning a lot as he works on the convent projects. He explains things well and his explanations make such good sense. Easy to understand. Great teacher ❤

That's what I thought it was as well.
Keep up the Great Work Alex ( everybody forgets the guy behind the camera ) The video's are even better with you onboard !!!
Laughed too hard at the purification ritual. Thank you! :)
I like Yannis willing to learn and Simon has a way with him a gentle heart love watching him teach someone is trade , love the video's with you're findings I'm interested hope you stay on the team . Ryan you make me laugh at you but you are doing well with you're new home , can't wait to see the finished project and it will be you're new home ❤❤❤
I enjoy hearing Simon teach. He does an excellent job.
You chaps are doing a phenomenal job while Billie’s away! 👏🏼🎉⚜️🙏🏼✨💜😊
I would carefully wash some of the other walls down there may be more hidden writing
about the writing on the wall....I did some searching.
Ryan is doing a great job of emcee! I'm so glad you got into the room with the "writing on the wall"!
There are so many awesome people who are great at their trade and have wonderful personalities. Nice to have Duncan around again for a while.
An interesting and fun day! Thanks for sharing
Ryan , you are doing a great job “presenting” these videos……..quite professional!👏👏👏
I'm having so much fun watching you all working and playing hard.
Ryan and co are doing a great job and the different approach is fun. Of course we all look forward ti Billy coming back after his hols. It must be nice to know everything is going well in his absence, and he doesn't need to worry (fingers crossed).
You're doing great, Ryan and the Gang!! Luv the videos!💜😁
Best vlog on this site yet. I laughed. Loved the Duncan and Ryan segment, loved all of this vlog. Super!
A few episodes back. Heavy rains, rooftop leeks ! Up dates please~
Have a wonderful week~
It is not unusual for insane person to write on the wall
Judging by some of the transaction seems to me a reason why it's there.
Simon...Prof. Mick Aston from Time Team would be proud of you 😊. You're a great stand in while Billy is gone, and the work progresses along nicely. I would subscribe if you had a channel while fixing up your farm/cottage.
Simon said awhile ago his renovation would be on Billy’s channel.
Simon and Yannis…great vlog! Mo helping Ryan…terrific!
Well done Ryan and Simon for hosting! They are such a good combo.
Love this! Simon is such a natural in front of the camera!
Really nice to see Duncan again.Wish he could fix my wiring. LOL Simon is great as always and Yanis got a little laugh in there! Mo was really helpful in translating the words on the wall. I wonder if you would be able to get that plaster off in one piece so you can keep it. Hmm, chances are it will crumble at the first attempt. Alex, lovely video as always and Ryan, you're a great stand in for Billy. All of you are making a great time for us while Billy and Family are on vacation. Be safe and see you tomorrow! 💚
Happiness is being dog and having permission to run the halls.
I love these vlogs... I'm always smiling at the end of them.
Brilliant cinematography and great team work.
Yannis is doing fabulously and I'm delighted to see him doing so well in the vlogs. Love that he's interacting more. Always lovely too, to see MO doing a cameo appearance. He was looking so suave.
Another great episode, packed full of interesting information.
I want to comment on each topic you covered, but so many!
What an INCREDIBLE team!
Thank you for sharing it all with us, & blessings from the USA.
I could listen to Simon all day. Actually you guys all great.
Interesting video about the writings. I enjoyed. Nice finds from the garden. great job Team.
