    5 years ago I saw a RUclips cover by Charlez and decided that day that I was going to teach myself the Sax and do covers as well. Today I can successfully say I achieved that and have my own channel on RUclips!
    I hope this comment encourages anyone looking to learn the Saxophone- You CAN do it

    I used to play this every single day when my daughter came home (years ago) from the sitter while I was at work, along with the song "Sway", and she was listen to them and then want me to repeat them every day. The power in this girls voice is amazing. My wife sang and did not believe this give was actually the one singing until she watched is a few times because of the quality and power, but she believed after that. The best part is that smile at the very end, and it cracks me up how she keeps looking around and getting distracted by whatever is happening, but it doesn't effect the quality of the recording one bit. She also tried to play my saxophone, but she was too young and just kept chewing up the reeds LOL.

  • @WellStudied
    @WellStudied 9 лет назад +25

    Had to laugh at the tail... just happened on your vid. Nice job. Years ago I won runner-up in the Seagram's Talent Search in NY for singing/writing... got to play, sing and work with hundreds of stars over the years. One day my wife dragged home a rescue chihuahua, he HAD to be in my arms or on my lap whenever I sang or played; loved music & always came running as soon as I plugged in... 22 years. After 40 yrs, I sold my horns after a bunch of surgeries to pay some bills, I've regretted it ever since. Nice job. It's not how many fills, but the heart and tone. David Gilmore can make you cry playing Alto, but probably couldn't play thru a practice book. Don't stop.

    I play clarinet and was taught never to puff my cheeks. Wouldn't it be the same for a saxophone?

    • @charlez360
      @charlez360  9 лет назад +6

      In the elementary sense, yes. Your teacher tells you that so that you keep your embouchure tight and in tact, but once you start using advanced techniques (such as circular breathing for instance), there is a lot more leeway in that regard 👍

      +charlez360 how long did it take you to learn to circular breathe? A technique like that would help my playing so much!

      It didn't take me very long, I was a weird kid.. haha. Here's a tip to learn: go to the sink, fill your cheeks with water, and when you push the water out of your cheeks into the sink, inhale through your nose. Repeat until the entire action is easy then try it while playing your clarinet. The biggest focal point is that you maintain the same pitch and tone throughout 👍

      +charlez360 I try it just straight up and the concept just seems so weird
